- mrlunix, on 09/10/2008, -0/+13Dugged for Spring! Great game...
- gringer, on 09/11/2008, -1/+9I just wish people would spend a bit more time on narrative for free RTS games. A single player element with a good storyline as part of these games would make them much more palatable to gamers (particularly those who aren't so great when it comes to dueling against actual humans).
- inactive, on 09/11/2008, -0/+5Spring ***** rocks, good community of players and an amazing variety of mods
- changingman, on 09/10/2008, -1/+65 Best Free and Open-source Real-time Strategy Games for Linux is a nice way to put it. Its nice to have a choice and thanks to people like you guys they keep coming.
- inactive, on 09/11/2008, -0/+4***** yes! Perfect timing! Just today I decided I wanted to look for good Free RTS games.
*pats self on back* - richIsBored, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3I remember Warzone 2100. It's a shame that company tanked because it was a pretty original RTS. I can't believe it's open source now. Sweet.
- leszek, on 09/10/2008, -1/+3hopefully there will be a ubuntu package ready for Intrepid

- hugolp, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Its seems theres allredy a repository from where to get the packages.
I have played Warzone 2100 and Glest. Both great games. I liked more Warzone 2100 just because Glest is mostly for network game. Ill be trying Spring soon. - spiki, on 09/12/2008, -0/+2Seems Crysis is to Digg what Beowulf (clusters) are for Slashdot :)
- skoruppa, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1Now when EA give us for free RedAlert and we have "OpenRedAlert" we can add to this list Red Alert: Command and Conqueror (for people that can read in polish: http://gry.ubuntu.pl/?q=wpis/redalert-za-darmo )
- SuperMonkeyKing, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1free apps is one of the reasons i have a dual boot now...
- aphorizm, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1There's another engine being developed by the Total Annihilation community called TA:3D. It's compatable with all the third party content for TA too unlike Spring. It's a little early yet but it's still one to look out for.
gringer: you can dress it up with expensive cinematics but single player RTS is a bit dull for a reason. Creating a good RTS AI is incredibly difficult. They're usually very repetitive to play against. Multiplayer is really the only part of an RTS worth playing. - Antimatt, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1No Tux Racer?
- DreadKnight, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1I am going to develop the next-best open source game!
The project is already started for a few months and it's currently in stage 2.

Hope to see you there, we really need your support! ;-) - dbr_onix, on 09/12/2008, -1/+1The thing is, you can run a majority of these games on Windows, or OS X (via the X11 application, if there's no a more native port). That is one of main reasons I use OS X - I can run Windows stuff either natively (BootCamp, for "big" 3D games, like.. Crysis?), linux stuff (it ships with bash, zsh, csh etc, the Developer Tools install GCC, you can run X11 applications - even things like window mangers/environments like Gnome and wmii/ratpoison if you so desire..)
For example, I have played Spring on WinXP and it worked perfectly.. although after 4 or 5 games, I had worked out a "system" to consistently win, and it got a bit boring.. In all fairness, some of those 4 or 5 games went on for many hours. - fcamkar, on 12/17/2008, -0/+0http://*****.pornlivenews.com/ Hardcore ***** video

Not counting using Wine. - Izacus, on 09/11/2008, -9/+2A single Total War game makes all of those together look like a joke.
- Endpoint, on 09/11/2008, -9/+2Apart from Spring, those games look so damn fugly! Did firing up the LHC suck them through from the 1990s??
- nickycakes, on 09/11/2008, -10/+3Good god those games look awful.
