.... NOT ONE USES MICROSOFT WINDOWS !!! ... hooray !!!
.... bottom line, they all hate LINUX / UNIX, but in the end they all end up using Linux / UNIX ... do I have to say more !!!! - Ymeg, on 08/16/2008, -14/+65***** christ. Do we need another condescending OS war again?
Well, I guess Ill start it:
Microsuzors, Macs are gay, Intelligent people only use linux. - inactive, on 08/16/2008, -40/+88Linux is great for a web server. The same cannot be said for personal OSs.
- equallyunequal, on 08/16/2008, -3/+47HAHA, I love it. We hate the people, not the product. Sounds like a good slogan.
- jnordb, on 08/16/2008, -6/+32@darkzealot89, you are wrong. Just because Windows has the bulk of the market share doesn't mean it is better, just aggressively marketed. Linux and os X are gaining market share constantly. IF Windows is such a better product, then why are people leaving it behind? The fact is, that if all new computers were bundled with Linux or os X, they would have the majority of the market....it's mostly a matter of marketing.
- equallyunequal, on 08/16/2008, -1/+26Betamax > VHS
- asshankie, on 08/16/2008, -25/+47Hi. I'm one of the co-founders of Linsux.org.
".... bottom line, they all hate LINUX / UNIX, but in the end they all end up using Linux / UNIX ... do I have to say more !!!!"
While I cannot speak for the rest of the sites, I can tell you that none of the founders/staff have anything against Unix in general. My current Unix OS of choice is OpenSolaris. We feel that Linux makes a good server OS. If we didn't, we surely wouldn't be running it. Our site was founded with "Hating the community, not the OS" in mind. Though, we can't speak for everyone who posts there. - Striss, on 08/16/2008, -2/+24Colecovision is better than Intellevision
- jasmus, on 08/16/2008, -1/+19Laserdisc > all
- Mr_Lyle, on 08/16/2008, -3/+20This debate is exactly like the religious debate. Nobody should give a ***** what anyone else is using. If you're happy with what you're running, good for you. Just don't try to get me to "convert" to your OS cause believe it or not, I'm just as happy as you with what I've got running. Use whatever suits your needs best and shut the ***** up about it cause nobody cares. Don't be your OS's Jehovah's Witnesses.
- Fartag, on 08/16/2008, -8/+25I agree its benefits and flaws should be pointed out accurately because that will improve it over time, but not by spouting blind propaganda against it. And not by blaming it for the problems caused by any of the industry kowtowing to a Microsoft monopoly that holds onto its position through shameful and harmful actions. Many Linux (/OSS) developers are even working towards fixing those problems that aren't its own.
Who hates Linux besides those vested in proprietary closed source technology that see it as a threat? Or neophyte users that don't yet know the details of our computing industry's history? Are only sociopathic trolls left? Hating Linux is like hating yourself because _you_ can help fix its problems, even if not directly, by supporting those that can (in lieu of buying Windows or Office for example). And even if you can't stand to be in the same room with yourself, surely you can't hate the freedom you have to change the reasons why. - asshankie, on 08/16/2008, -3/+19@mCanada
When we say that, we're talking about the general community. You know, the ones that run around chanting "WINDOZES BLOWS LAWL!" while they try to convert their grandmother. Unfortunately, this seems to be the bulk of the community these days. - radix2, on 08/16/2008, -2/+17darkzealot89: The market share shows no such thing. The market share only shows what vendors have been installing on PC's that people buy. What the true share would be if people *had* to choose is completely unknown.
Don't get me wrong. I'm no Windows hater - dual booting at home and living in Windows at work, but given my druthers I would prefer to only use Linux for its stability. At home it is only installed so that I can run certain games. - Dobby156, on 08/16/2008, -7/+22admittedly although i hate these site almost as much as they hate linux, linux really isnt all that.
- dood, on 08/16/2008, -0/+14Live theater > Betamax
- luminousnerd, on 08/16/2008, -18/+32Nobody hosts on Windows except n00bs and suckers. Linux is the only viable option for web hosting.
Plus, these sites all focus on Linux as an end-user OS, not a server OS.
You = epic fail. - mr5150, on 08/16/2008, -0/+12Mac Donalds makes the most burgers in the world doesn't exactly make them the best burgers though.
- Jellzilla, on 08/16/2008, -2/+13"ungzip my pants && suck my tarballs"
Uhh... the command is gunzip - ericdano, on 08/16/2008, -5/+15I don't hate linux. I just hate it when the Fanboyz keep insisting it is going to take over every other week.
Another great OS is FreeBSD. I still run a server that has FreeBSD on it. Rock solid, even on old hardware. - slythfox, on 08/16/2008, -3/+12Lol:
"Don’t risk your personal and professional future. Ask anyone, Linux clearly violates Microsoft Intellectual Property. This has been proven in a court of law [1]." Goes to -> http://www.promotinglinux.com/proof (404 error!) - UnWeave, on 08/16/2008, -2/+11If an article on digg is capable of making your weekend, and it isn't about how great you are (for example) then, er. Well, what?
- Cryptocracy, on 08/17/2008, -24/+33Linux Rocks
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 08/16/2008, -4/+13I don't think there are a lot of Linux haters out there (aside from shills). There are, however, plenty of FOSS fanboy haters out there, and it's understandable. There are plenty of reasonable FOSS supporters out there, but they often get drowned out by the FOSS zealots who froth at the mouth if anything in the world is still closed-source. Seriously, I've seen fanboys of all kinds, but even the Apple fanboys can't hold a candle to a FOSS zealot.
- thePTS, on 08/16/2008, -4/+13"Microsuzors, Macs are gay, Intelligent people only use linux."
'tis true. - Rosco, on 08/17/2008, -2/+11A lot of these sites are not anti-Linux. In a way, they are trying to bring more attention to Linux, and hopefully persuade some devs to make it more user friendly to the average user. It's not that they hate it, just pointing out what needs to be improved. But, that's not speaking for all of them, only some of them.
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 08/16/2008, -3/+11Except both Linux and OS X are gaining market share. How often do dead things keep growing?
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -1/+9M$, Microshaft, etc.
- DivineMonkey, on 08/16/2008, -1/+9I love linux and couldn't give a ***** what haters have to say about it. The Linux community knows what they need to do to increase it's popularity. And that is, 'dumbing it down'. The population simply aren't patient enough to learn Linux, and i can understand why, it's a huge difference from Windows. And as long as Windows will be an easier alternative, it will always be more popular. But for people who enjoy a challenge, Linux is perfect =)
- slythfox, on 08/16/2008, -0/+7I do think that this is a good quote: "In order to improve, you need to be open to criticisms; even from your enemies"
Except www.promotinglinux.com is terrible, they no supporting evidence, nothing. It's not criticism, it feels more like racism. - Matt2k, on 08/17/2008, -1/+8> Does any serious website run IIS?
Yes, actually. IIS and the framework it provides, .NET, PHP, ASP, ISAPI, is really quite good. I run and manage servers using both, and while I'm most familiar with IIS, both web servers are quite decent.
Also Apache runs on Windows, but you'd have to be an idiot to do so. - andymci, on 08/16/2008, -1/+8Hating on either side of the fence is counter-productive. Inform the public, don't preach to the public. Let them know what the options are, and let them decide for themselves.
- Ki77erB, on 08/17/2008, -0/+7Your idea of a good weekend is masturbating to "I hate Linux" websites?
- strevoir, on 08/17/2008, -2/+8The Anti-Microsoft site You must follow!

- InorganicMatter, on 08/16/2008, -0/+6Darwin is the Mac OS X kernel. I don't know if Apple's implementation of Apache brands its OS as "Darwin" or "Mac OS X," but I'd saying it's a safe guess to assume they are hosting on Mac OS X Server.
- kuehlschrank, on 08/16/2008, -2/+8I don't care about the websites, but "ungzip my pants && suck my tarballs" made my day.
- jstone, on 08/16/2008, -0/+6WIMP would be Windows, IIS, MSSQL, PHP

- kontraire, on 08/16/2008, -2/+7I've been using Linux off and on for about 5 or 6 years, and it's finally, within the last year or two, gotten to the point where it's actually usable for non-nerds. God forbid anything goes wrong though, because they'll be completely hosed if it does. Command line for grandma? Don't think so.
- init100, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4"Inform the public, don't preach to the public. Let them know what the options are, and let them decide for themselves."
I completely agree. This is a much better course of action than just keeping quiet "since nobody cares", like so many posters above demand. - zwaldowski, on 08/16/2008, -0/+4Who the ***** runs a server on Darwin?
- ultrafez, on 08/16/2008, -1/+5Dugg for "Don't be your OS's Jehovah's Witnesses."
Man, they are annoying. - benburned, on 08/16/2008, -12/+16compiz fusion easily wins against the visuals of vista and leopard IMO.
- SomeImagination, on 08/16/2008, -4/+8Use whatever OS you want, because at the end of the day nobody else cares which one you use
- afrothunderman, on 08/16/2008, -0/+4lol, I never realized it made WIMP. Something should be said for that, it totally fits.
- krisrm, on 08/17/2008, -2/+6That well thought-out comment seems to tell me that the only idiot here is you...
- flawedprefect, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4Allah-OS, Buddha 3.0 and Vishnix are all viable religions to Osify.
- slythfox, on 08/16/2008, -2/+6The point was the page is missing.
