- TheSilentNumber, on 10/14/2008, -2/+31They said not to expect lines, but expect me at the store as soon as it opens.
- xolot1, on 10/14/2008, -1/+29this is excellent news. i hope this encourages developers and companies even more to pursue this project.
- bloodomen13, on 10/15/2008, -0/+26like send an MMS? how about copy and paste?
Sorry, couldn't resist - kinseyincanada, on 10/15/2008, -3/+27i didnt expect it to be this popular, must check it out.
- Krissam, on 10/14/2008, -1/+22Just give me an european release date pls :)
- gandhii, on 10/15/2008, -3/+19Yea.. but I also don't think I care. If it did everything I wanted, I'd be one of those smart asses to get an ugly phone just to give the finger to all those damn apple zealots who call everything with a gsm signal an iphone clone, and every other device "fugly" even if it is an exact replica/clone of the iphone.
- pdangelo22, on 10/15/2008, -3/+19don't go thinking for yourself there
- CCB0x45, on 10/15/2008, -9/+24I don't buy this. This is marketing hype how much it sold, T-Mobile or Google didnt present these numbers, and hasnt commented on them. This looks like it is about 400,000 that are preorders filled, and the rest that are earmarked for stores.
Read this article and think about it:
http://www.informationweek.com/blog/main/archives/ ... - otto989, on 10/15/2008, -26/+38anyone else think this thing looks butt ugly?
- petard, on 10/15/2008, -1/+12AT&T just released 4 new dumbphoens with qwerty keyboards today. Check them out.
- themadhatter444, on 10/15/2008, -2/+12Fantastic. I'm see no reason for the software to fail. The G1 is another story, but a cash cow like Google is going to push this into something amazing.
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -1/+10This has NOTHING to do with the iPhone. Where in the article does it imply that it is better? It is simply an "alternative" and competition for Apple. Since you're obviously a fanboy, you should be happy that it is doing so well because it will only drive Apple to be even better.
- Alvantoai, on 10/15/2008, -0/+9All these new toys and I'm stuck on Verizon :/
damn these voyagers, dares, and envy's... all childs play! - mydjtl, on 10/15/2008, -3/+11I got one... this is gonna be sic...

STFU you stupid apple noob, your iphone blows just like all apple products, overhyped under performing, feature less. - ptsuk, on 10/15/2008, -1/+9fugly eh? just because it doesn't have chrome on it? Please. I hate to break it to ya but your phone isn't going to get you laid. iphone or g1.
- DelMonte, on 10/15/2008, -1/+8From the article you linked:
"I contacted Anders Bylund, the author of the original Motley Fool article that hundreds of stories are citing. I was curious as to how he got these figures and he gave me his rationale.
He cited a Cens.com article that said, "according to industry insiders, T-Mobile is planning to order a total of between 1.5 million and 2 million units of G1 with HTC in the near future, including 400,000 to 500,000 to be sold in the fourth quarter of this year."
Then, Bylund cited T-Mobile selling out of pre-order units, and tripling the number of phones initially available. He then tripled the 500,000 number to get 1.5 million."
So the "1.5 millions Android phones sold" statement is inaccurate. - Murdats, on 10/15/2008, -0/+7yet!
- meghalc, on 10/15/2008, -0/+7I want the HTC HD with the ANDROID OS. This G1 is a good start for Android with a affordable price point.
- HonoredMule, on 10/15/2008, -1/+8So...do you think 1.5 million people know something you don't, or do you just like following crowds?
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -0/+7Blackjack II's are free with an upgrade at bestbuy. Great phone, especially for free.
- apotropaic, on 10/15/2008, -2/+9no
- ssj4vegita2002, on 10/15/2008, -0/+7Pretty sure a 3rd party app for outlook syncing is in the works already, as well as multiple video players, and possibly flash support.
Gotta love an open environment. - nashrafeeg, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6says the person with iPhone interface for his avatar
- MacParrot, on 10/15/2008, -1/+7Counting you that's 1.5 million...and 1
- Shaunzio, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6DAMN YOU.... 2 YEAR CONTRACT!!!
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -4/+10here's hoping the G2 looks better
- gtapro92, on 10/15/2008, -2/+7sprint is cdma so there is no sim card. oh and its "voila" u dumb *****
- pooljoe, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5keypad lock
- mrsteveman1, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5That really is twisting the definition of phone sex, but ok.
- Inaktivist, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5The G1 will sync with all POP3 and IMAP email services (not just Gmail) out of the box.
- gandhii, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5the nsa already does... and what do you get for that? (other than higher taxes)
- thephosphorbox, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5Will it support T-Mobile's Hot-Spot-At-Home service? That'd put me firmly in it's corner when my VZW contract is up.
- FelixDrylock, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5(sic)
- ptsuk, on 10/15/2008, -2/+7As is the article by the guy disputing the facts. Face it iphone users, the G1 pre-order did sell out, t mobile did triple their order, and next week you are all going to see another little black slab doing things your phone can't, no 1. CUT AND PASTE.
enjoy! - jeremymccurdy, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5Dude, just stop it. You might have gotten a digg or two if you had posted Data from Star Trek TNG or some other COOL android... Seriously, all the androids in Dragon Ball sucked.
- subterfuge, on 10/15/2008, -3/+8so you're a douchebag if you buy things that work better???
- GhostFreeman, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5Sprint has no SIM cards, they use ESINs -- they will only allow their hardware on their network.
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5Sorry for the double post ... darn chrome
- r3zonance, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4"you are though for not joining the 21st century with bluetooth A2DP"
Good luck with your 21st century no battery life. You think the iPhone 3G has poor battery. Bluetooth will drain the living ***** out your battery. And then you have to pay an extre $30-40 just because the headphones are bluetooth. - pardonator, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4They haven't even shipped them yet. These are pre-orders. 1.5million orders isn't bad for something that isn't even out, yet alone had a proper review.
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4UK in November, other countries in January. Checked t3.com, but somehow I can't find the article there anymore... :(
- IronTek, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4I agree. My one-year T-Mobile contract has been up since July and I was waiting for this thing.
...but a two year contract...hmm... - ssj4vegita2002, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4Every hands-on that people have had in the t-mobile stores so far says that pictures do the device no justice, they also say the device is built very solid.
- tjallen, on 10/15/2008, -1/+5Ah, this is only about pre-orders. I was wondering when Android would start blowing up on digg with real world users. Can't wait till they ship! The iPhone (my phone) needs a great competitor to keep it progressing. Android looks sweet. Can't wait to see future phone models that run it.
- noderat, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4Sprint? Why, God, why?
- CCB0x45, on 10/15/2008, -1/+5Yea, which is what I was saying, even less than I was saying as well... I was getting dugg down and I didn't know why. I don't care either way but this just seems like marketing BS being pushed on digg.
- dmostrowski, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4Got one pre ordered too!
- Aitese, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4Everything he just said (sans physical qwerty and VGA) my N95 can do. I have an iPod Touch (My N95 provides that with free WiFi access wherever I am!) and I'd HATE it as phone despite loving it as a PMP
