- nerddtvg, on 05/06/2009, -2/+24The list is a bit misleading. Drupal, Joomla, MediaWiki, and PHPMyAdmin will all run on any web server running PHP with the appropriate modules. I've used them on Linux and Windows with no problems. Plus I wouldn't call the first three as tools but rather frameworks to build upon.
- Orsenfelt, on 05/06/2009, -0/+12I stopped reading after
"1. Drupal"
If you don't know the difference between PHP and Linux, you should stop writing tech articles. - keyo, on 05/06/2009, -0/+10Would have been nice if they linked to each tool.
- paulieman, on 05/06/2009, -1/+7No TorrentFlux? lame list
- TheFounder, on 05/06/2009, -1/+6dude forgot Wordpress on that list... freaking granddaddy of them all... as well as phpbb....
- kresek, on 05/06/2009, -0/+3Afaik Windows isn't Web-Based
- manstein01, on 05/06/2009, -1/+3Usable for urbanetruth, who is too scared to at least take a look at a different platform he is unfamiliar with.
- dogfood, on 05/06/2009, -1/+3I'm all for the Linux love, but the writer should have noted that most of these run on most any web server. I'd hate for someone to overlook Drupal just because someone read that it was a tool for Linux servers.
- factotum218, on 05/09/2009, -0/+1Orsenfelt beat me to it. Holy carp, ubantu can run the webz.
- zip000, on 05/06/2009, -1/+2Web based tools for what? This may be a good list of things to look into for people managing a server, but not exactly useful for most users I wouldn't think.
Also, who hasn't heard of most of these already? - Andrwmorph, on 05/06/2009, -1/+1Insert usual guy whining about the fanboy flame war here
- hummstheword, on 05/06/2009, -2/+1Just to incite a linux-fueled diggmob..
Xp is the best, because of its top-notch customer service and easy customization. - zonical, on 05/06/2009, -6/+1Linux is a beter SO for servers, thats for granted, but thats not because it can run those things. CMS must work in any good SO... most of them just need apache and a php interpreter, they dont even care about the SO where apache is running.
- JackSchittt, on 05/06/2009, -8/+3Insert usual linux vs. windows fanboy flame war here
- urbanetruth, on 05/06/2009, -23/+2Must-have Linux tool #1: Windows. Helps to make computer usable.
