- houndeyex, on 10/10/2008, -3/+58God I hate the "Finger Licking" expression...
- Winkythecat, on 10/10/2008, -9/+38These are great. Why do I have vista?
I hate my life. - oobuntu, on 10/10/2008, -1/+26blogger is trying to redeem himself after his last effort turned out to be (1) hideous or (2) mockups. i'd say he has succeeded in choosing a nice list this time :)
- RodBorn, on 10/10/2008, -1/+22I'm a tri OS user...XP, Leopard, and Hardy Heron. I have been a custom Linux guy for years, but I have to say lately, after using OSX more and more, that the Linux user experience just seems too inconsistent still, especially in the theme department. Rough around the edges after all these years.
- Myztry, on 10/10/2008, -1/+2290% of the appeal of any desktop is the wallpaper in the background. I admire Ubuntu for many reasons but they seriously have to get away from the default mud compact (makeup) theme.
- QuixoticNoob, on 10/10/2008, -2/+21I'm using dust right now, I'm SO stylish.
- Wulffy, on 10/10/2008, -4/+2210 fingers - 10 Themes - Licking, licking, licking... ;-)
- thedragon4453, on 10/11/2008, -3/+16Umm, you hate your life because you haven't downloaded a free operating system yet?

Get to it before you start slashing your wrists! - chaoswings, on 10/11/2008, -1/+14You mean an article that finally shows you some themes and gives you links to installing it!
So many of these articles list all these awesome themes but then never tell you where or how to get them. So for that dugg. - shanesemler, on 10/10/2008, -5/+14Hey, a collection of themes for Linux that really are great!
- MadEnvoy, on 10/11/2008, -2/+10Does "Labia Licking" work better?
- ImUrStranger, on 10/10/2008, -2/+9Dayum! Finger licking YES. Toe sucking? Not quite.
- smotpoker, on 10/10/2008, -5/+11A few of these are ok. I thought "Wreathing Gray" was coolest out of them but most were mediocre at best, IMO.
- Sabretou, on 10/11/2008, -4/+9Maybe you like playing video games or something.
/is going to get buried like hell - waspbr, on 10/11/2008, -0/+5If you still want to game just dual boot. Linux is about option not about picking sides.
- inactive, on 10/11/2008, -0/+5These are good, although some are those cliche Aero/OSX style wannabe themes. I want a theme that makes it a cool LINUX system, not a Vista-lookalike or Macfake
- motang, on 10/11/2008, -0/+4Dust Theme for me, have it running on both my desktop and notebook.
- cyberwiz01, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4My work is a filter-nazi as well. I cant even go to something like walmartsucks.com or anything with *sucks in the URL or search query because it's flagged as "Adult Content/Pornography"
Seriously. - orb9220, on 10/11/2008, -0/+4That is "Conky" for the desktop. Allows you to configure many of the system info.
http://conky.sourceforge.net/ - lancedice, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4I've been looking for some good themes! Anyone have a mirror or anything? linuxhaxor.net is blocked at work, it labels it as a "hacking" website.
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -1/+4Finger licking? Perverse...I like it!
Well played. - Raz4Life, on 10/11/2008, -0/+3Our filter:
youtube.com = Obscene/tasteless
digg.com = weblogs/personal blogs
weezer.com = R-Rated (really?)
iGoogle.com = Online games
Plus any web-based email service = Personal Mail
Major sad-face. D: - thePTS, on 10/11/2008, -0/+3These actually look pretty good. You can see a professional has been at work at putting the shots together. The only thing is, they base themselves a lot on the desktop background, but still it's a great way of showing off the GUI part. I can show this to my parents and make them switch to linux. Good work!
- GarrettGrimsley, on 10/11/2008, -1/+3First time I have ever seen a double post on digg, congrats.
- arandomgeek, on 02/24/2009, -1/+3Here's a great dark theme I came across a couple days ago: http://sen7.deviantart.com/art/Mira-100077120
- jjabe, on 10/10/2008, -2/+4Nice! I've been looking for themes to try out on my Linux machine. :-)
- IndigoMoss, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2I really like the dust theme a lot. It's clean and has a dark transparency which I like a lot. The other themes are kinda meh though, especially that terrible OSX clone in Japanese(?).
- emehrkay, on 10/11/2008, -1/+3thank you. I submitted the form and nothing happened. So I refreshed the page and my comment wasnt there, so I resubmitted.
- abbathdoom, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2Not really, its all in the theme and the icons. You can make it look like a Mac clone or a Vista clone if you like so there is scope to have it look like just about anything. Personally I love the Shiki Colors theme, it makes gnome very pretty.
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Shiki-C ... - desuexmachina, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2maybe geektool: http://projects.tynsoe.org/en/geektool/ecrans.php
- inactive, on 10/11/2008, -2/+4i like Dust Theme, and Dust theme only. The others' are close to my tastes, but the "super FuTuRiSTiC R0B071C" fonts turn me off
- beaner2011, on 10/11/2008, -1/+3Arezzo and Dust are the only ones which look to be approaching what you can do with Vista.
(Braces for the flurry of downmods) - seinman, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2http://www.panic.com/stattoo/ may also suit your needs.
- solarwind24, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2They forgot the best themes on gnome look: http://www.blog.solarwind.metafy.org/2008/10/08/am ... (not trying to advertise my useless blog, I just use it as a "bookmark" manager).
- Digglet69, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2do you have a mac or did you get osx illegally just curious of how to do it ?
- 007brendan, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2Most popular games have decent support in linux through Wine. Plus a few games, such as Quake Wars, are being released on linux as well as windows now.
- kingvik, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2it looks similar to royal noir for windows (XP).
- ommadawn, on 10/11/2008, -3/+5Gnome is fugly.
- mohtasham, on 10/11/2008, -0/+1Mac is very hard to use. At least for stupid people like me, ubuntu is much more user friendly.
- brettalton, on 10/11/2008, -0/+1Eww...
- svivian, on 10/11/2008, -1/+2I dislike the process of installing themes on Ubuntu, you have to install parts separately, like the Controls, Window Borders... it's worse when the parts are in separate files on gnome-look.
...unless I've missed something and there's a way to do a one-click install? - jamesmcm, on 10/11/2008, -1/+2Arezzo and Dust look great, might use one of those.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1some old ones like DustTheme and BlackWhite GTK but a great list nonetheless :)
- MattBD, on 10/11/2008, -0/+1If you can do any better, go ahead.
- fuckingusername, on 10/12/2008, -1/+2i like mine
http://files.myopera.com/web4me/albums/387529/myde ... - mohtasham, on 10/11/2008, -0/+1Dust FTW.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1It all seems to be the same ole stufff. If anyone wants to check something a little different, check out my gnome desktop here.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn201/killsthew ... - inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1Ha, Wallpaper is awesome. The orange blinded me tho :P
- inactive, on 10/11/2008, -1/+2surprised there aren't more a-holes saying "why use themes... they just make it look like vista" comments
- CCmachined, on 10/11/2008, -1/+2i cant believe the Ubuntu Studio theme wasn't there. it's awesome for a dark theme.
