- megaton, on 08/17/2008, -3/+32My distro doesn't have a website.
They have a BBS.
At 300 baud. - Vadi0, on 08/17/2008, -4/+28Dreamlinux website uses Flash.
*zealot mask on* Their website isn't Free! - Commodore13, on 08/17/2008, -0/+12He means free as in freedom, not free as in beer.
- dewey, on 08/17/2008, -1/+12Arch Linux has a good website, glad to see it was included.
The website, AUR packages, and forum all match and keep the same look and feel. - Cooperfan, on 08/17/2008, -0/+9I couldn't find the 'download' button for this distro.
- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -4/+13Why would an ugly website make a list about the "10 Best-designed Linux Distribution Websites"?
- angrytortilla, on 08/17/2008, -2/+10Someone's a sucker for rounded corners and glassy buttons.
- adamflight, on 06/28/2009, -0/+8geeks don't care for the most part, but if its not pretty, regular people won't trust it!
- Beacon, on 08/17/2008, -0/+7Arch's and Slax's were the best, IMO. Pretty simple, clear, and easy to navigate. And still pleasing to the eye.
Not that I, an Arch user, would be biased. - phatboye, on 08/17/2008, -2/+9My distro's website is fugly as hell, but who cares about that. I want a distro that works well, I could care less about the website. As long as the website has the info in a well organized manner that is updated in a timely manner.
- netzdamon, on 08/18/2008, -0/+6We can only hope.
- MagicBobert, on 08/17/2008, -1/+6You're right. Linux never really caught on in the server market.
Oh wait. - stxza, on 08/17/2008, -1/+6Much love for ARCH!!!
- 3242130193, on 08/17/2008, -2/+6I can't disagree that all of them look nice - but it's also important to make sure that they convey all the important information easily and efficiently. Designing a website that does both of these things is hardest.
- Sephr, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4Last time I checked Dreamweaver ran fine on Linux under WINE.
- darkknightita, on 08/17/2008, -3/+7If by "best-designed" you mean "the front page is full of lame 2.0 effects and shadows", yes, these are the best-designed websites (luckily, the only one that does not follow this rule is Arch's).
If, instead, you mean "that let the user find quickly what he's looking for", this chart is absolutely worthless. - maninalift, on 08/17/2008, -1/+5and for that openSUSE is best
- santaliqueur, on 08/17/2008, -2/+6The person who wrote the article. Are you too stupid to understand how this works?
- santaliqueur, on 08/17/2008, -1/+5I'd say Fedora's website looks pretty clean.
- praisethelard, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3Hardcore...
- greywolfexcel, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3What is your distro, by the way?
- fnordy, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3Judging a distro by it's website is like judging a woman by the size of her breasts. Sure, they are great to look at, but that doesn't mean she would be a good wife, lover, etc.
Don't judge a distro by it's webiste....Download the distro and try it. That's part of what Linux is all about, experimentation! - Balla79, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3@Hockey13: Free means freedom in modifying the code and freedom to redistribute it. And no, Flash isn't free (as in free beer) for all operating systems, only 3 operating systems.
- pijalu, on 08/17/2008, -1/+3Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover...
- infiniphunk, on 08/17/2008, -1/+3try slax
http://www.slax.org/documentation_install_slax.php - SteveMax, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2I didn't know Patrick Volkerding was on Digg...
- Hockey13, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2Oh, I see. So you mean free as in open source? To the casual observer, a capital "F" in free looks like a typo.
- FolkTheory, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2Debian is great for that.
- neFariou5, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2I'm guessing Knoppix's site isn't there. Hate having to use knoppix.net whenever I'm getting a new version.
- Cherubim, on 08/17/2008, -5/+7Irrelevant. People are digging this nonsense ? What next ? Which porno site looks the best ?
- srg13, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1"To the casual observer, a capital "F" in free looks like a typo."
That was actually a joke... - unrealmp3, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1Adobe is still making efforts to make it more "open"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Flash#Open_Scre ... - melat0nin, on 08/17/2008, -1/+2This is far from confirmed. Check the Artwork mailing list to get an idea of where the 8.10 theme is.
- Vadi0, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Knoppix isn't actually too bad, until the mirror selection part.
- Veni_Vidi_Vici, on 08/17/2008, -1/+2I couldn't see those cause they loaded too slowly.
- etank, on 08/17/2008, -2/+3go go Foresight.
- DanRabbit, on 08/17/2008, -1/+1well, they are designing for IE.... I mean, its not like Microsoft has standards anyways....

- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -2/+2to me a good website gives you information, A fancy website that just looks good does not do a whole lot for me.
- LanEvo, on 08/18/2008, -1/+1***** YEAH ROUNDED EDGES FTW
- robisgreat5000, on 09/06/2008, -0/+0Nice collection of designs! I love reference article like this.
