- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25I think 100+ Links to Ubuntu Tutorials is a better title. :)
- eezzzz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19You should make this into 100 individual front page stories. Today.
- johnIRL, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20Still beats Windows
- demonsofgoetia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Agreed, and speaking of which, here's 450 links to Ubuntu Forums Tutorials (and growing) on one page, from A-Z:
http://lotusleafslinks.tuxfamily.org/ubuntu_howto39sfromubuntuforums.html - Xageroth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Thank you so much Digg for switching me to Ubuntu. Seriously. I love my "new computer"
- aura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm normally dubious when it comes to anything that advertises 50 or more 'somethings' on digg, but this one was pleasently surprising.
- xspinkickx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6yeah tell me about it, a linux distro that an average user can use, and have all the same functionality of any other distro while maintaining community support is the hallmark of bad linux distros.
I use linux from scratch, package management is for da n00bs!
^^ thats sarcasm btw. - pictureDIGGER, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6please digg me down
- iamasmallgoat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I just installed Ubuntu this weekend and was looking for something like this. Thanks.
- jhshukla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3command-not-found package. one of the best ideas ever. most programs tell you that there is an error and stop about there. this one also tell you how to fix it.
- MrDo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Their front page includes: "KxDocker - OS X Dock in Ubuntu"
Please dear god no. The OSX dock just sucks so much.(and I am using a MBP myself when I am not running Kubuntu). - SweetMercury, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@bias:
"Hmmm I don't remember Windows or Mac or any other OS need that many tutorials. If an OS is really "User Friendly" you shouldn't need 100+ tutorials to use it effectively."
Right.

And so on... - xlocust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ifconfig
- NeMeSiS187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Needs more cowbell.
... And I need a damn tutorial that can tell me how to run Xorg in my T60's native wide screen resolution. 640x480 isnt much fun on a widescreen :-( - inactive, on 02/25/2009, -0/+2@daridave
You feel like being more descriptive by any chance? - Spr0k3t, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5This digg posting is obviously dedicated to the much loved Ubuntu Fanboi "RandaII".
- xspinkickx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you know there is an alternate install disc right, and yeah the live disc sometimes does not work if without proprietary drivers, I know with my 7800gt I can't boot the live disc unless I install the nvidia drivers from the ubuntu repo.
- aussieaubs, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7cmd line configs are always better way to learn
- thomas, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5To Randall: Don't bother to comment on how much Ubuntu sucks and that we are all sheep just bury it and move on.
- Zoufiax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good job, thanks. This site helped me find this tutorial (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?highlight=howto&t=202834) about Linux and WPA. I've been struggling for hours and hours to get this working, to no avail yet. Maybe this tutorial will help, it looks good fur sure.
- toliman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1100 reasons why ubuntu is getting better. maybe.
still, it's a great list of threads from ubuntu forum howto's that, while good, are written out almost verbatim from dozens of other linux forums that have jumped through the same hoops and foibles in getting their hardware and apps to work. i know i've read the same kind of material on the gentoo forums for sure, though popularity and a good kernel modules package helps a lot with getting those users who would give up pretty quickly once they realise how much work is involved going past apps as packages.
yey for linux. - daridave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm having a hard time dual-booting Vista and Ubuntu... and of course, it seems to be Vista's fault.
Sorry to ask for help on a comment, but anyone can help with that? I really want to get into Ubuntu lately... but I'm stuck at the start line :S - xspinkickx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it seems that people have problems with network manager, but I have been using network manager since breezy, and I haven't had any problems with it.
- schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8Wow. These guys have grown quite a large knowledge/linkbase over time. I can't help but feel like the page concentrates on one particular Linux distribution however. Many of these can be generalised to assist a wider audience.
- icebrkr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was thinking more like 100+ links to Linux How-To's. I'm kinda tired of the Ubuntu Fanboys making it sound like Ubuntu is some 'other' OS. :-D
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not even a dock, either. It's a physics engine disguised as a dock.
- pllb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I can't help but notice a pattern in everything ubuntu related here on digg. ANYTHING in ANYWAY related to ubuntu, no matter how silly makes it to the frontpage. Anyone who says something good about Ubuntu gets modded up while anyone who speaks their mind or truth gets modded down....sad really.
- pictureDIGGER, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1in the podcast they don't mention that this number was up on every other "digg-a-like" site. Just thought I would include that. Thank You, Good Day.
- HighLife1990, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0https://help.ubuntu.com/community/
Way better. Just search what your looking for. - CGA1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Hehe, I'm doing my best to mod them down. Linux is a hobbyist OS for nerds, or perhaps a nerd OS for hobbyists.
- toxonix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Those tutorials are all stupid. What can I replace that stupid network settings manager with? I ***** hate that app.
It sucks complete balls. - Spr0k3t, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3no no no... RandaII has enough work to do already. His daily routine searches for the word "Ubuntu" is just too much.
- bariswheel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2sigh...Why aren't these in howtoforge.com ? I'm sure these are great tutorials, but this is an epitome of the Fundamental Problem with Linux. We have a social problem, not a technical one; people keep reinventing the wheel. I'm glad Canonical stepped up to provide some leadership so the wheel stops getting reinvented.
- mombof, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0should read.... 100+ Tutorials you could use if the 7.04 livecd wasn't broken.
- Fijocha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Ubuntu: it just doesn't work. Enough said.
- cloudless, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I just hope Ubuntu will get intuitive enough so tutorials are not necessary.
- bias, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Hmmm I don't remember Windows or Mac or any other OS need that many tutorials. If an OS is really "User Friendly" you shouldn't need 100+ tutorials to use it effectively.
- CGA1, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5I don't love Ubuntu.
- troydoogle7, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Would be awesome if they would create gui alternatives to terminal stuff, that way you wouldn't need tutorials!
- vare2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Great site, but some are a bit impractical. I, for one, wouldnt want to install ubuntu on a brand new ps3
- SicKn3sS, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1FIANLLY! A story that isn't about Mac. Oh wait it's about one of the worst Linux distros...
- Spr0k3t, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2+digg for not being a sheep-a-phobe like RandaII.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -30/+3That list needs an FDISK tutorial for when people realize how ***** and overhyped Ubuntu is.
