- snypa, on 10/12/2007, -12/+51that was pretty cool, few minor details wrong such as marge and maggie sitting in opposite sides of the car compared to the actual, but very nicely done.
- Pharmboy, on 10/12/2007, -11/+12My guess is it was produced somewhere besides Springfield, since you don't see any right hand drive cars in Kentucky. All and all, however, a well produced "copy".
- soleblazer, on 10/12/2007, -40/+11I second that, aweseome...also I am digging the threaded comments..
- Eskadus, on 10/12/2007, -39/+9Springfield isn't in Kentucky, it's in Illinois.
I know, I live in Kentucky. - EddieW, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Looks to me like the UK.... So thats why they were at wrong sides!
- marnaq, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12It is not clear which Springfield the cartoon takes place.
- haphazardly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30Re: Location of Springfield.
In fact, the makers of the show have gone out of there way to confuse the matter show after show. It has become a regular gag. On the DVD commentary, they stated that they haven't decided, it doesn't matter, and that a good guess would be "Springfield, Anywhere in Generic USA" (not a verbatim quote). - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -19/+9Good god you're all picky!
Genius. - jugo23, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6yeah, its euro so its like opposite sides of the car for them
- Pharmboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15They left it obscure for many years, but have painted themseves in a corner, and Lisa even admitted it in one episode, with her comment "It's a bit of a mystery, yes, but if you look at the clues, you can figure it out."
In episode 248, it was revealed they live in Northern Kentucky. Goggle it or search http://www.tv.com. It was the fake VH-1 "Behind the Laughter" episode. - vann, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Springfield isn't anywhere in particular. There are tons of geographical contrdictions and other such things. For example, Springfield is near the coast (re: the episode where Springfield decides to deport all illegal immigrants) but also has a large mountain, the Murderhorn (re: the episode where Homer tries to climb it). Also, it snows in Springfield, but can't be so far north that six inches of snow wouldn't cancel school.
There are non-geogrpahical contradictions, too. The radio station is KBBL, which means that Springfield is almost certainly west of the Mississippi since the name starts with a 'K,' otherwise it would start with a 'W.' However, there's an episode where Bart returns a squishy bottle or some such for a dime, but Michigan is the only state in the Union where you can return cans for a dime.
So where is Springfield? Nowhere in particular. Or, really, anywhere that's convenient for the episode. - benspicer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11this was filmed in the UK, you can tell because:
- the cars, they're all european, but yet right hand drive
- the policeman that bart skates past
- the signs (like the 'danger high voltage')
incredibly well done, just like the real thing.
edit: anyone else noticed if you edit your comment you cant add the plus sign in? plusDigg :) - soundboy64, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3If you generally look at all the locals and such, it could be Orgeon. As Groening grew up in Portland. Although that doesn't really explain how they drive to NY or Florida very easily. Once again, that's just the greatness that is the simpsons.
- indiefan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually, the behind the laughter episode was supposedly (according to the producers) meant to be profiling a fictitious simpsons family who were actually actors in a tv show. I guess this was supposed to be a joke that went wrong.
Although, in the second season he goes to mail a letter and it looks a lot like an "IL" on the envelope to me.... - shooby, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1was probably made in england...hence the right-hand wheel
- cgwas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Actually the documentary episode has three syndicated versions that say three different states.
- corvi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I tend to agree that Springfield is Anywhere, but if you had to choose a place I would tend to lean towards my home town for a large chunk of influence.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lance_Wilder#Influences_on_Artwork - FearNLoathing, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2In the Simpsons episode called "Behind the Laughs," the narrator says that the Simpsons are from northern Kentucky: "And now the future looks brighter than ever for this Northern Kentucky family".
- gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18Yeah i noticed that too, i think it was filmed in Britain though, definitely not America check the license plate. I think they drive on the opposite side of the road there. need someone to confirm that
- hater2win, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5This is true. Great video though. As close as anyone can get.
- eddieroger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Yes, it was British. The car position, roads were dead giveaway. Still, incredibly awesome, considering they make it live action.
Also, the band instructor was spot on. - Out_Of_Space, on 10/12/2007, -17/+7Yes, it was done in the UK
- LegendarySock, on 10/12/2007, -33/+5NICE.
- gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -79/+3abc
- zleetd00d, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2Wow, wonder what happens if you get -1337 diggs. Prolly get banned or something, without the block button.
- schadenfreude52, on 10/12/2007, -18/+11Close, but not quite there. Some minor differences. Still pretty good anyways.
- barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -13/+5yes this is cool.
- cyb3rllama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Excellent treatment. It would be nice to know who produced this and why.
- jedi55555, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That is exactly what I was thinking. I would love to know what this video was made for.
- richardiscool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It was filmed by Sky One
- Chasin_Fat_Kids, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5That was well done - Loved it.
- craigeth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7also the green thing didnt bounce up and back into homers suit. though that would be hard to duplicate. very well done
- navster15, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8That was freakin' awesome. I can't believe that in the 15+ years that the Simpsons have been airing no one has thought of that. +digg
- Gruesome, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Homer's plumber's crack is especially nice.
- FistOfVengeance, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Oh yeah, his crack is beautiful.
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I wish I could digg that twice. That was awesome. Does anyone know what that was put together for? It looks a little too professional to be merely a fan film.
- The_Decryptor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Yeah, looks like it was done for a show or something.
- thidranki, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Wow, these people have too much time on their hands :P
Reminds me of the remade full-house intros - ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I agree with the minor details, but it was definately a damn good effort.
- huffapuff, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Only in Europe... looks like somewhere in England or Ireland perhaps
- ivaj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2hehe well worth the watch, funny to see it put together like this.
- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Digg for sheer beauty and "I WILL NOT EAT THINGS FOR MONEY".
Again, some mistakes, but I'd be shocked if this DIDN'T become a Simpsons movie trailer...- magik, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2*doesn't
- FearNLoathing, on 10/12/2007, -2/+39http://www.gimmeallthe.info/simpsons.wmv .. downloadable copy
- linus7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2+Digg for the mirror...thanks FearNLoathing
- dotuplink, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2are they ever going to make that real life movie version?
- cdubs01, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Yes, the drive on the other side of the car/road in Britain...
- AUGTRON, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Bart didn't take the bus sign away and lisa didn't throw her bike into the garage, but those would have been difficult to do. Digg
- Avius, on 10/12/2007, -18/+2aham
- RadicalBender, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, that was done only in the first season intro. They redid the opening sequence for the second season.
- ejstacey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Wow, that was awesome... well done.
- hadem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Pretty well done. There were a few minor things missing, like when Homer drops the nuclear waste, it just falls, but then suddenly he has it in the car, and if I am not mistaken, doesn't Bart turn on the corner and not go straight?
- ddufour, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4In the old original Simpsons episodes, Bart went straight.... no turn. I noticed when I got Season 1 DVD.
- aquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In the opening sequence, Homer tries to throw away the glowing rod, but it bounces back up and tucks in his shirt. When he's driving home, he feels it behind his collar, reaches back, and throws it out the car window.
- yllabianbitpipe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8That was pretty cool, but also scary because it reminds me of those crappy live action cartoon remake movies like "The Flintstones" and "Dennis the Menace." I hope that never happens to the Simpsons.
- bentrop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Those were my thoughts exactly. I wonder why no one else expressed that concern before. I thought "Cool!" and "oh my god, I hope they will never make a live action Simpsons movie like that!" at the same time.
- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1That was awesome.
- GeneralChang, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2well done, except they aren't British....or whatever
- skippy2057, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Very clever and well done - "Homer" even showed some butt crack at one point....
- zzz@tkz, on 10/12/2007, -17/+1Wow. I'm very jellous.
- mv1008, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1that was pretty flippin cool
- makinde, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2simply awesome
- magicmonkey23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I remember there was one done for british tv to celebrate 10 years of The Simpsons some time ago. It might be the same one.
- teh_techie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I've been a simpson's fan forever... and I generally enjoyed it!!
- tempusrob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Very well done ... it's awkward seeing live actors in the place of cartoon characters, though.
- misfit410, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2That was very well done.
- sych0, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1*****, that was reaaaaaaally cool!
- Opelious, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Aww, no giant shoe to crush them when they sit down?
Great video, though. - cduquette, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Great! Any idea who actually created this? It'd be cool to see what else they've made.
This is almost as cool as the real life Simpsons HOUSE!
http://www.lasvegassun.com/dossier/misc/simpsons/photos03.html- andydude117, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2whoa that's awesome
- Snyder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I just watched this a few hours ago. Great quality. They get the angles, the editing, etc. very close to the cartoon. Great job. I only wish I knew who made it.
- Riker, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1That was great!
- humanchimp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3definately UK, look at the policeman when "bart" is skating down the road
- Mongoose, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Very cool. As is the new comment system.

- thepandoras, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11This was filmed in England, and will be used as the opening scene in an upcoming episode.
- marnaq, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Cool. Do you have a source on that?
- pmace, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1source on the upcoming episode comment?
