internet explorer tab within firefox
addons.mozilla.org — this is a new firefox extension. to use it, just right click a link and choose "open this link in ie tab" you've now opened internet explorer in a tab of firefox! this is great for the occasional times when a page doesn't work correctly in firefox, downloading windows updates, or designing a web page- since you can easily see how your webpage displays in IE with just one click and then switch back to Firefox.

- remiprev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This is really great, but it sometimes crashes my firefox.
- tehubersheezy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1couldn't ask for anything more useful!
- bitwiseplatypus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Works great until you hit the back button in an IE tab. Then suddenly you're back to using the Gecko engine.
- MCA-007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0One of my favorite extensions. Very useful for those pesky non-Firefox supported pages.
- pietistic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Brilliant!
- sdcdiggs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Agreed pietistic!
- numba1xclusive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0old!
- Software2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0"This is really great, but it sometimes crashes my firefox."
Hah... firefox crashes 10 times a day on me. What's 1 more? - numba1xclusive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1actually, I take that back. I thought this was the open in IE ext.
- kevin_qnn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i've had this for a while. pretty useful.
- er1ca, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1"old!"
as far as i can tell it was released on October 31, 2005. - cappslite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Goodbye forever, IE... You POS.
- MikeEnIke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0WOnt load :(
- Draconiko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes!
+digg! - TheAttacks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Do you need IE installed on your computer to have it "open in the IE tab"? Cause I mostly use linux, the only reason I have Windows anymore is because I still have to debug layouts I code in IE and stuff.
- DiMo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why doesn't this work... i have firefox 1.5rc1...is that compatible?
- radda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awsome. +digg!
- SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0crashes too much
- Dren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As a web designer this is very nice to have. Unfortunately, I'm also a Debian user. Doesn't work for me. =
- D14BL0, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Dude. I've had this plugin for over a year. This isn't new, nor worth a digg. It was worth a digg a year ago, maybe...
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Capitilaztion please.
- Brando, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is awesome. I used to use the "view in IE" extension which would open a new window, it was cool, but this one is much better.
- JediLord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a great extension to replace the IE View extension. It makes Firefox more like the new Opera, which this was the only feature Firefox was missing.
+digg - Backlash, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Ok, so thats 2 people that have commented about this being old. Its new to me and to the 20+ other people who have commented so... STFU!
- yensed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesnt seem to work very well.. Kinda crap, but awesome idea and will use alot when works better.
- er1ca, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1"Capitilaztion please."
spelling please. - weblava, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0WHY NOT JUST USE IE?
DLL Database: www.dlldb.com - persecuted, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This has been around for a while.
But still a great tool - ezrie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I keep getting prompted to "Install missing plugin" when I try to use this on portable firefox.
- theantidote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Read the instructions on the page, for firefox 1.0.* (so the latest non-beta versions) you need an extra plugin.
Works great for me and it's a very good idea. - ph3rny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool
amazing
i wish i had seen this earlier
its amazing - Carbito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very nice!
- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Windows only, unfortunately...
- shockme17, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0this is old .. not new, its been out for months
- crazaalex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1user agent switcher
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=59 - er1ca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1to all the people who say this is old, i think you may be thinking this is the old extension that allows you to open a link in ie, this is different in that it doesn't launch a separate internet explorer window. you open internet explorer in a firefox tab.
- jakejarvis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"this is old .. not new, its been out for months"
Maybe so, but look at all of the people who didn't know about it yet. - kylef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great stuff.
- Mark_H, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"WHY NOT JUST USE IE?"
That guy makes a decent point...It's not too dificult to just take a link that doesn't work in Firefox and paste it into IE. From the comments, it seems like it's crashy, too. I really wonder if the crashing might take MORE time than it would take to just open the link in IE if it's even an issue (which it rarely is). - LucianSolaris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The ability to disable activex plugins needs to be implemented (so i can update my not-so-legit copy of xp :D)
- squeeze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome. I thought there might have been a problem using windows update with this. I was proved wrong.
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0O.L.D!!!!
- er1ca, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1it was released on October 31, 2005!
- Odoacer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0kickass, I don't have to open up IE to watch certain movies online anymore.
- lordelric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does any one know if you can update windows in that new tab?
- er1ca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Does any one know if you can update windows in that new tab?"
yes you can - Malachai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Finally! Been waiting for this! Let's just see how stable it is...
- dukem72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I dugg because the idea is great but here is my perpetual problem.
I use Mozilla as opposed to Firefox, the reason is that I like to have both browser and email application in one.
So each time a cool plugin comes out I go to try and install it I get lucky sometimes and the things works or about 90% of the time it downloads, then tries to install and fails.
The error is that the install script was not found.
I've asked around and not one person has led me in the right direction, so what say you?
Thanks. - lockdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When I go to http://update.microsoft.com I get the following error, even though I'm using XP Pro fully updated:
Thank you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site.
To use this site, you must be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later.
To upgrade to the latest version of the browser, go to the Internet Explorer Downloads website. - lockdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Crap, it worked when I went directly to it, but not if I opened another site and then edited the site in the navigation bar. Good to know.
