eBay Genius Starts With One Red Paperclip......
oneredpaperclip.blogspot.c… — "My name is Kyle MacDonald and I am making a series of up-trades for bigger or better things up to my goal of a house. I started with one red paperclip on July 12th, 2005. You can read stories about each trade."

- SatansMagicHat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i had to click that link just find out wtf it was about. After reading a good bit of that story (start at the bottom of the page) it's absolutely crazy. +digg
- cyrusgades, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sorry, read it after and it didn't make sense, too bad i can't edit my own story

- loker269, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is quite old but its nice to see he got past the red generator lol
- AndrewMayne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I tried this with girlfriends. Some how they ended up with richer, younger, better looking guys and I...well I'm currently single.
- ncraig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0how doesnt it make sense, he traded one red paperclip for some other thing thats slightly better, and so now if you trace back its like he gave a dude a paperclilp and eventually with the things he chained with that he now has a skidoo...
- flubba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that is insane. insane. insane. insane. i want to see if he will actually get a house.
- kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2haha, nice Andrew. Cool idea.

- Badseed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0By the time I finished reading the story and digging it, the amount of diggs doubled. Looks like Kev and Alex will be mentioning this on Diggnation.
- dbrodbeck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ahh, and now we see why the TOS were added thrall....
Just heard about the paperclip guy on CBC news, fairly cool. - monototo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1dupe, old, (wrong category deals?)
http://digg.com/deals/Swap_a_paperclip_for_a_house - Scoobysnax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I knew a guy in University that did this. He started with a marble and went door to door asking if they would trade him for something bigger or better. He ended up getting a lamp, a climbing harness, and a small TV amongst other things. This was in Canada as well by the way.
- papaz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Montreal ROX ! So DiGG
- nate007, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0this has been here before
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0No way the guy trading him the generator is a Marine. :)
- sonyoak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1stupid and pointless. people that are trading with him just wanted to see their name up site, "oooO, i traded with whatever-that-dumbass-name-was and i got this-piece-of-useless-*****."
- bczechowicz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0screw a paperclip, i'd rather just Give Bob a Dollar
- jtibbetts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is exactly like one of The Great Brain books I read as a kid. But I think the Great Brain started out with a bug in a jar instead of a paperclip.
- nintendo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0A digg is a digg, dupe or not, people are still digging it.
- yikiad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i've got some belly button lint....anyone.....anyone.....beuller.....
- kinderstod, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Wow, seems like anyone with a stupid idea and a ***** .blogspot gets on TV these days. Meanwhile how many people have been headshot in Iraq? Oh, the red paperclip guy, SVEET
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0@nintendo:
Digg is for tech news. By definition, a dupe cannot be news. Therefore, a dupe does not belong on Digg. - undressmarty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hey bczechowicz - don't Give Bob a Dollar, undress Marty...
http://digg.com/links/Undress_Marty:_See_a_guy_nude_by_removing_pixels_on_his_site. - Dwebtron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this was on the front page a few weeks ago wasn't it...?
- NoahK, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Saw this last week. No digg, and reported as dupe.
- serra, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Yeeeeah, I don't know if this is going to work or not.

AndrewMayne makes me laugh. Thanks. - jk_baller23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haven't i seen this before a while back...????
- mrhaines, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't believe this is on the news. We did this in youth group when I was a kid and went from a paper clip to a pool table in like 3 hours.
- CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I couldn't find any references to "eBay"...did I miss something?
- rswarsaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This isn't genius -- it's charity.
- praveens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Genius he is! What creativity!!
- godmstr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0he doesnt do it on ebay no digg
- grieks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0old news so old
- Overdose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Too bad this is old. I just digg it so I can keep up with the process.
- sw96, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Someone ban grieks, he's posting "old news" on just about all the pages on the front page and just generally flaming..
- Friedbeef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Old site... but new news...
- ScottyQuest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I saw this awhile back, but I don't mind seeing it again. Last time I saw an update he was at a snowmobile. Looks like he's still there. I wish him well. We all have our trading stories. I remember a Pete and Pete one. Fantastic show that one...
- Scott - circusbred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I heard about this on the BBC, good to see he got rid of that budweiser sign!
- Sabotage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0NOTHING to do with eBay
- grieks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Someone ban sw96, he's posting "Someone ban grieks, he's posting "old news" on just about all the pages on the front page and just generally flaming.." on just about all the pages on the front page and just generally flaming..
- super_structure, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The stories on his blog are cool. I'm glad he really takes some time to interact with the people he's trading with. Even if he doesn't trade up for a house (which he just might at the rate he's going), he'll have a great book deal or something.
But what has this got to do with eBay? Did the person who submitted this site even read it? - ender52, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, i've done that before going door to door. We had a competition in high school. I started with an apple and ended up with a couch. One group started with a pencil and ended up with an old mercedes. The guy told him if he could get it started he could take it.
- haochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good digg, this is the way I wanna be...HoHo
- gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0eBay? and an old story. it reminds me of the girl who begged her credit cards free a couple years back. besides it's just a kiting scheme.. what's next a genius who invents a ponzi scheme?
- gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice recursion grieks! it's funny - the more popular digg gets the weaker the frontpage gets.. it would be so easy to tweak/fix.. and automatically disallow dupped url's within a time limit, and if a dupe is submitted automatically add one digg to the original post and voila - on that note, my digg goes to: http://digg.com/deals/Swap_a_paperclip_for_a_house
