It's nearly impossible to find on Google if you don't know its name already because the crappy commercial ones have spammed up the Google listings, which is why it needs to be on pages like this.
  • SDNick484, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The list is pretty comprehensive, but it only briefly mentions (and doesn't link to or describe) one of the application suites I use most frequently: Cygwin. Cygwin is a, "Cygwin is a Linux-like environment for Windows" consisting of a Linux API emulation layer and a collection of *nix tools. I find it programs essential for anyone stuck using Windows but needing to deal with *nix machines.

  • deadpixel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0there's a lil program listed there called "net meter" it's almost exactly like "du meter". i've been using du meter for about 5 years. i love this little program. being able to see all my net traffic (including local network) is great.
    the window for it is small and the colors are customizable (sp). i prefer black background with green as the download and red as the upload colors.
