Man gets $15000 Christmas present for leaving car unlocked.
thebostonchannel.com — Depressed and dejected, an anonymous donor left an engagement ring with a note reading: "Merry Christmas. Thank you for leaving your car door unlocked. Instead of stealing your car I gave you a present. Hopefully this will land in the hands of someone you love, for my love is gone now. Merry Christmas to you."

- betterth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How sad :(
- semvhu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm never locking my car again.
- madmax22e, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9good, tell me what kind of car you drive
- disgruntled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1on dec 3, i had about $1500 damage done to my car so the moron could steal a stereo that wont power up without a copy of Primus - Pork Soda (no really the stereo allows you to key it with any CD) i wish i woulda found this instead.
- thereisnospoon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Good, now I know which CD to use to make this damn radio work.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0that's wild.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0lol @ no spoon
- spiderland, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Wow, too many people posting Fark articles lately. No digg.
- JaggedEdge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0wow dude, i feel bad for the "donor"
- rydawg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2tech news? TECH NEWS?? How is this tech news. I read this on a regular NEWS site earlier. I don't need to see it here too.
- Aynatix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0^^Who cares rydawg? go die.
- KarlSage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wow.
- Deputy_Doodah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Poor guy. I've been there too, and it's especially depressing at Christmas.
- rohcky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I left my car unlocked one time. All I got was a moldy ham sandwich.
- jboi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5a girl rejecting a $15000 ring...
this is a hoax! - Simen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@rydawg
There's a car, a small piece of metal and a depressed user with no luck in love.
Sounds pretty "tech" too me. - Kryptonitfusion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2My love is gone now too...8'(...and I prolly would do that do
- echimu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It is called luck!
- lilfroger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2jboi
money can't buy love...i know it is a stupid saying but it doesn't matter how much the ring cost...if he was not right for her she would say no. I'm proud of her for not being swayed from what she truly felt by something shinny. - fugitivALiEN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd call it tech related, because it makes you consider a good car alarm but then again you wouldn't get a shiny happy ring then would ya? ;) Reality check... i'd still try and take it back to the freakin store... I wonder if the relationship would mend... oh well =/
- markyymark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So he wrapped it up himself and said it was a gift... Now he has no issues keeping this "present" from a stranger... Smart guy.
- Namingishard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, i kinda feel bad for laughing at this story, the guy could have killed himself 5mins later, we'll never know i guess
- thatsiebguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If he could afford to drop 15grand on an engagement ring, I doubt he cares if hes just tossing his money away.
- dstart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sad story, poor guy :(
One question, how is this related to tech news? - thegrinder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone ever consider that the woman died and that was her old engagement ring?
- thegrinder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2AND this is Massachusetts. It could have been a man rejecting him for all we know...
- partialinfinity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe she died.
- nihilator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"a girl rejecting a $15000 ring...
this is a hoax!"

I agree. It's that time of year for fake stories.
But how do you know it was a girl? It is Boston afterall, it could have been a man/bf. - xLiKx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very cool, i hope the gift-giver didn't kill himself afterwards
- KidVicious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, the guy probably killed himself when he got home.
- markyymark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He found it, wrapped it up and told the police it was a gift. That simple.
- barnkim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1a nice story, but where's the tech?
no digg. - NidStyles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who's to say that it wasn't a girl that caught her fiance' cheating on her?
- thegrinder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nihilator: It was actually Northborough. I rich suburb 45 minutes West of Boston.
- nihilator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"It was actually Northborough. I rich suburb 45 minutes West of Boston."

Fair enough. Gay/lesbian/bisexuals live in rich suburbs, too. Are you suggesting that by being a rich suburb, 45 minutes west of Boston, that it is only populated by wasps? - Midnightbrewer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Poor guy. I've been there too, and it's especially depressing at Christmas."
You've had someone leave a $15,000 ring in your car, too? And this depresses you why?
I have too much love, myself. I live in Japan, and my girlfriend is annoyed because I am going to be interviewed to teach at an all-girls high school. What's a guy to do? - hcetrepus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lucky bastard.
You mean you anal compulsive people either like or dislike a story, depending on whosesite it came from? They are all coming from somewhere for gods sake. - Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeesh. No woman is worth a $15,000 chunk of rock and metal.
- simpleid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's on cnn now too
- SweetsGreen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0That guy must of been sooooo ugly if the girl rejected that ring.
- chabuhi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Stole it ... felt guilty ... but didn't want to suck up a felony ... and thus the sad "Pay it Forward" holiday story was born. Or, at least, that's how it plays out in my cynical, untrusting mind.
- sunnyboy06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The woman did not reject the ring; she died. Hardly rejection. I think that this is one story that shines a light on the Christmas season. The man who gave the ring should be a little happier as he has made other's dreams come true at christmas.
- shade73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's a story that can warm your heart this christmas! I feel bad for the guy, but at least he did something good!
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0*tear*
- nacho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I say *****.
- Mongoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's so cool. Lucky bastard.
- NMENVadR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did they mention if they found the guy's body after he killed him self?
This story is kah-razy. - multifaceted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Poor rejected guy, I hope he has a supported friends, or family to go home to.
