Aaand, the whole thing just locked up after playing a Paula Abdul and MC Scat Cat video, looks like they got some work ahead of them ironing out the bugs. Heading in the right direction though.
holmesworcester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The linux version will be out soon. It's actually a little farther ahead than the Windows version (the playback controls work and all that). We'll have a new release out in a couple weeks that fixes a lot of these glitches.

As it is, this thing subscribes to RSS feeds, Bittorrent downloads work, and it plays everything VLC plays. We've just got to get it more stable and flesh it out a bit.

mdweaver7485, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Buggy as in crashes immediately after opeing. Acer Travel Mate 4650 Windows patches Uptodate. JRE is uptodate. Only installed programs were, Palm Desktop, Acrobat Reader, Office 2003, Firefox, iTunes, Nero, Scumm, Trillian, All software and drivers up to date as of 2/13/06. No digg on bugginess grounds, with no funny apps installed.

I noticed it says to overcome the format problem it wants to support as many as possible. Given its open source nature, i wonder if it'd make sense to only support open formats.

holmesworcester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0automagically-- it's not like shoutcast streams: videos download to your computer, and you watch them whenever you want. Like Tivo. Advantage: no "buffering" and publishers can use Bittorrent to distribute very high quality video with low bandwidth costs.

thewebguy-- try a bittorrent feed like: http://www.commonbits.org/content.xml That's probably a lot more immune to the brutal impact of thousands of digg users.

Most of the entertainment stuff on there is videogame animation, digg and rocketboom.
and rocketboom seems like it's hosted by a future librarian (and not even the naughty sort).

So wake me up when they get some content worth watching. (besides digg I mean)

veritech, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This thing is sweet, anyone who loves the high res versions of these shows, and can't find the feeds, visit my site tomorrow, and i'll post feeds to the high quality versions to the 1 up show, diggnation, indigital, purepwnage plus every other show i've watched and feel free to drop in requests for others, i would send emails to the respective sites, but sometimes you gotta do stuff yourself. It's like 1 am here, so you can go link crazy tomorrow. Broadcatching is Back (not that it left)

Other than non-working controls (can't see how long the video is, can't rewind, ffw) there are a bunch of tiny but super annoying things, like maximizing the screen is kind of full screen so the windows bar is hidden, can't maximize by clicking on the task bar, no always-on-top, etc.

Oh. And while writing this, the thing crashed on me entirely. Oh, and if this program is so smart in downloading my stuff automatically, why can't I minimize to the system tray?

theantidote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is really cool. I just quickly hit download without looking at the site and when I was looking at the preferences I noticed a setting for limiting your upload speed. It took me a second and then I was like "Bittorrent! Sweet!"

This is exactly what Apple should've done with iTunes. Bittorrent is not just an "evil hacker warez P2P network", it's a real distribution method and should be embraced.

pauldonnelly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is pretty cool. Fullscreen mode doesn't seem to start via the menu option or hotkey, although it is accessible by double clicking a playing video or clicking the "play button in a square" button.
dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is fairly.. erm.. meh.. You'd be easier using TVTAD and a bittorrent client (Easy to setup)..
I tried it out, and it was fairly crap at responding, closing it didn't kill the process, and reclicking the desktop icon claimined you needed to restart before you could repoen it (So killed the process and reopened it), downloads were only at 5-20kbs (Compared to 100kbs normaly)..
Good idea, but just hasn't got it right...
