- alpha_male76, on 03/19/2008, -6/+91to err is human but it takes the Leafs to really mess things up.
- hektur, on 03/19/2008, -5/+79That site didn't play it for me but heres the youtube video incase anyone else has problems.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJStGMYi6hM - gegroff, on 03/19/2008, -2/+34Poor Toskala, he is never going to live that down.
- inactive, on 03/19/2008, -4/+27He did nothing wrong, it's a one in a billion shot. That puck just bounced in the most unpredictable way possible.
- CBTF, on 03/19/2008, -8/+27Wow, the leafs are ***** terrible. Nobody in this city will admit that, though.
- Frieked, on 03/19/2008, -4/+21FYI Toronto still won the game but that goal cost them the shutout
- Waiting2awake, on 03/19/2008, -3/+18and then blame math for being biased against the Leafs.
- madtownmoxie, on 03/19/2008, -1/+14It's like that puck was made out of rubber or something...
- shakin, on 03/19/2008, -1/+14Wikipedia says it's grammatically correct in the same way that dwarfs and dwarves are both correct.
However, I used to work for Maple Leaf Sports and Mike (The Bear), who is a decent Leafs historian, told me that it's because the team is named for the Canadian symbol Maple Leaf and as a symbol it is a proper noun and must be pluralized with an 's'. If the team were named for the tree leaf then they would be the Maple Leaves. - bigbadgoat, on 03/19/2008, -2/+14I call *****.
You're not a die-hard leaf fan unless you're convinced they're somehow going to make the playoffs until mathematically impossible. - chrisschross, on 03/19/2008, -5/+16ROTFLMAO - Being a Diehard Leaf fan I pray they can keep this up and maybe actually have a legitimate shot at a good draft spot.
- kraagenskul, on 03/19/2008, -1/+10Bouncing pucks can be a bitch to stop. I once backhanded a puck up high from my team's blue line that that actually ended up bouncing over the goalie's head and into the net because of the way it hit the ice in front of him. Best part was that I had changed up by then, so I was on the bench when the puck actually went in the net, and it took the refs a minute to figure out who actually scored.
- lostprophet23, on 03/19/2008, -5/+13My exact words watching this last night were: "What the *****!?"
- Senturion, on 03/19/2008, -3/+11Golf Leafs Golf!
- LordByr0n, on 03/19/2008, -2/+10Oui
- Jeffler, on 03/19/2008, -1/+8I'd probably castrate you, Toskala is the only reason the Leafs aren't in dead last right now, let alone near a playoff spot.
- FoghornLeghorn, on 03/19/2008, -1/+8It didn't seem to phase Toskala too much, that's some good news. Unlike when Salo did it for Sweden or Cloutier for the Canucks, neither of those goalies ever seemed to get their confidence completely back.
- inactive, on 03/19/2008, -1/+8to all young goalies/infielders et al BODY in front of the ball/puck
- bigbadgoat, on 03/19/2008, -1/+7Next season, Brodeur should own the record for career wins, shutouts, and maybe minutes played. He has 3 Stanley Cups, his team made the finals 3 times in 4 years, he has an olympic gold medal, he's scored two goals, he's been nominated for the Hart, and won 3 Vezinas and 4 Jennings. He is the youngest to reach 300, 400 and 500 wins, and only the second goaltender to get to 500. He also won the Calder in his rookie year.
He owns the record for most overtime wins, most consecutive 30-win seasons, most consecutive 35-win seasons, most 40-win seasons and he's the only NHL goalie to score a game-winning goal. He has made the all star team 10 times.
He's also a strong candidate for his 4th vezina, and his team is one of the favorites to win the east and make it to the Stanley Cup for the 5th time in his career. The only thing he's really missing is a Conn Smythe, but he was a very strong candidate for it every cup win.
There isn't much Brodeur hasn't won in his career, and he still has another 4-5 years left in him, maybe more.
Brodeur is a living legend, and in my eyes, and the eyes of a lot of others, the greatest of all time.
Even with all of his achievements, Brodeur still lets in ***** goals from time to time. Give the guy a break. - J3553, on 03/19/2008, -1/+7cut tuskala some slack. even patrick roy had this happen to him a couple times.
- ghunt, on 03/19/2008, -4/+10pure luck.
- troyguy2, on 03/19/2008, -6/+12I don't think any goalie would have stopped a bad bounce like that. Out of all the places it could have changed directions, 5 feet in front of you totally blows!!
On a side note - Leafs ended up winning 3-1 - LogicBomB, on 03/19/2008, -1/+7You still belose.
- ArchieAndrews, on 03/19/2008, -1/+6Looked to me like he was square but the last bounce shot the puck way left (in relation to his viewpoint). I didn't see it on TV though, just via the youtube link so I might not have the best vantage point.
- mistahroth, on 03/19/2008, -3/+8Ugh when I watched this last night I knew it'd make Digg...... I'm so embarrassed to be a Leafs fan sometimes :(
- robfis, on 03/19/2008, -0/+5buried because of bad ice making a good goalie look bad.
- Insane_Edna, on 03/19/2008, -2/+7I would be embarrassed to be a leafs fan all of the time.
- goreyend, on 03/19/2008, -1/+6I am an islanders fan and last night was a sad game, that was the only goal. Leafs won 3-1
- Lososaurus, on 03/19/2008, -1/+6Hey, back off jackoff, the Kings already called dibs on the #1 pick.
- andyrunner, on 03/19/2008, -1/+5better video
http://youtube.com/watch?v=TXMnye_8wfg - Weip, on 03/19/2008, -11/+15Any other Habs fans here?
- cuj0, on 03/19/2008, -0/+4Obviously you didn't see the rest of the game
- bigbadgoat, on 03/19/2008, -2/+6I see you live in a world where pure luck (or lack thereof) does not exist.
If you knew anything about the sport of hockey, or goaltending in general, you'd know that Toskala played it correctly and there was nothing he could have done. - cleggg, on 03/19/2008, -1/+5big deal . ... no one's gonna remember the win . . They'll just remember that great bouncing puck ..
- phavn, on 03/19/2008, -1/+5That's where you are wrong. I am a Leafs fan and I admit the team they have now is horrible.
- Jeffler, on 03/19/2008, -0/+4The leafs suck this year but don't use the only goal allowed in a 3-1 win as your prime example.
- kinseyincanada, on 03/19/2008, -4/+8only the leafs
- bigbadgoat, on 03/19/2008, -3/+7You should have figured that out about 10-12 games ago.
- Claude1971, on 03/19/2008, -0/+4he tried to "flash the leather" to corral the weird bounce *****. I'm sure he wanted to make a 200 ft save look spectacular?! WTF douche
- tehnico, on 03/19/2008, -1/+5Right here!
- mrjofo, on 03/19/2008, -0/+3I saw one of the Rangers do something similar, though probably not as far away. He was clearing it off the side boards but it bounced off and went towards the net. The goalie had come out to play it as it came behind the goal but it instead made a beeline for the net and he was out of position to do anything about it.
- Akraz, on 03/19/2008, -0/+3I will. Leafs are terrible.
There. - flyers126, on 03/19/2008, -2/+5"What the *****!?" is exactly what the guy in charge of the goal horn said. There's at least a 3 second delay from when the goal is scored to when the horn is sounded, the longest i've ever seen.
- djepik, on 03/19/2008, -0/+3Everybody hates the Rangers.
- Claude1971, on 03/19/2008, -2/+5they still won the game *****, so how does this improve their draft position?
- bigbadgoat, on 03/19/2008, -8/+11No, no. Close to 100 years ago, there was a guy who named a hockey team that apparently wasn't too good at grammar. Hence, the "Toronto Maple Leafs" were created, and people have been laughing at the team, and their fans, ever since.
- 4j4x, on 03/19/2008, -1/+4Better quality video on TSN with replays from other angles... You need to actually see the puck!
http://broadband.tsn.ca/tsn/?vid=39114 - Jeffler, on 03/19/2008, -10/+13To be fair though, the Leafs won the game, so it doesn't matter.
- yoshman, on 03/19/2008, -1/+4Thanks.
What the hell is floobster anyways? It's freaking 2008, can we stop it with the *ster names yet? - Ranvier, on 03/19/2008, -2/+5Way to try and sound like you know what you're talking about, but if you watched the clip you'd see he was square in front of it, it just completely changed direction.
