- inactive, on 01/20/2008, -11/+482I smoked three packs a day for more than a decade and began smoking at a very young age because I thought it was cool. I stopped smoking briefly as I trained before going into the Army. I smoked my last one when my daughter told me that what she wanted for her 8th birthday was for me to stop smoking.
Haven't touched one since. - inactive, on 01/20/2008, -1/+137You are a good man, and your daughter must be very proud of you. I decided to stop smoking yesterday, have thrown away my ash trays and all smoking related stuff. On a nicotine patch as I type this :)
- riskybeats, on 01/20/2008, -3/+93I was just about to light one up until I saw some square ***** farting out it's mouth/drainage gate. Now I have learned that it truly is evil. thank you digg
- inactive, on 01/20/2008, -3/+82Why don't you have a seat over there....
- audiooeric, on 01/20/2008, -1/+45I quit in Aug 2007 with Chantix.. I had the weirdest dreams while taking it, but it probably saved my life....
- ngmcs8203, on 01/20/2008, -6/+49Good for you. I wish more would follow your example. Sadly, if that were to happen I wouldn't get the enjoyment of seeing the double sided death sword... A fat person smoking cigarettes. All they need for the trifecta is a reckless lead foot.
- IllBeBack, on 01/20/2008, -2/+38Because Digg really looks at those reports.
- mal1964, on 01/20/2008, -4/+37Considering all the crap that goes down a sewer, and cig might be the equivalent of a after dinner mint.
- supermanred, on 01/20/2008, -0/+32Reported? Maybe his daughter is 30 now!
- makkaveli19, on 01/20/2008, -0/+31keep it up, its a hard fight
- theradical, on 01/20/2008, -4/+33[This comment is no longer available due to a copyright claim by the Church of Scientology International]?
- altrego99, on 01/20/2008, -1/+29I quit two months ago, but by then it was too late. I have been diagnosed with cancer of the lungs. I decided to live out the rest of my life without smoking a single ciggarette. Knowing how much longe I have to live, it shouldn't be a difficult job anyway.
- davidrools, on 01/20/2008, -1/+27congrats on quitting. that aint easy
- cyroxos, on 01/20/2008, -6/+32HUMOR, HAVE YOU HEARD IT?
- NikoKun, on 01/20/2008, -20/+46Nice art... But lame for the topic... I'm tired of anti-smoking propaganda... It only leads to more prohibitions of freedom...
- ohhoe, on 01/20/2008, -9/+34I'm going to go have a cigarette.
- Dokument, on 01/20/2008, -0/+24didnt you know that smoking makes your nose go away?!
- borninda818, on 01/20/2008, -10/+32It's great if you could quit, but often it's not worth killing yourself for a year to achieve your goal. If you really like smoking, cut back to one after every meal. Those couple of cigarettes a day will not drastically change your lifespan or quality of life. It's so much easier to cut back than to go cold turkey. And if you ever want to quit in the future it's not as hard.
I helped my dad with that a few years back. He used to be pack a day and tried to quit a few times. He couldn't last a month. Instead of going cold turkey I told him to set a limit and decrease it every month until he reached a goal (3/day). After a year he cut down to 3 a day and did so free of the accompanying depression and anxiety. The man plays over 6 hours of tennis a week and has never been short of breath. - Player1, on 01/20/2008, -12/+33I can't be the only one who's sick of all of these anti-smoking campaigns. I know it's bad for me. I know that if I continue smoking I will probably develop cancer. They write it on the side of the god damn pack. But if I like to enjoy the occasion cigarette (or carton for all you people are concerned) it is my personal choice. A creatively painted storm drain isn't going to sway me. It's just ***** obnoxious.
- willrs, on 01/20/2008, -9/+28honestly, who looks at a storm drain and thinks "wow this would make an awesome quit smoking ad"?
- Pardis, on 01/20/2008, -0/+18I used to smoke 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day, remember to take it one day at a time. wake up and tell yourself you will not have a Cig today.
- PatoLucas, on 01/20/2008, -2/+19Nicotine patches FTW! They prevent that nasty anxiety.
- NikoKun, on 01/20/2008, -6/+21It is NOT up to you, or anyone else, to protect people from themselves or their choices...
I understand that smoking tobacco is relatively pointless, harmful, and expensive, but if someone wants to smoke it, they should be free to, as they are free to eat whatever foods they choose. Do we force people onto diets because the foods they might eat, are disgusting and harmful? no...
As for the current laws passing around the country... I draw the line at banning smoking, ONLY in government buildings... Otherwise the government has no right to take away the rights of business and property owners, that wish to cater to smoking. If a certain restaurant/bar has a smoking section, and you don't like that, you are free to leave that property. At MOST, maybe tax cuts could be given to places which promise to be smoke free.
Just had to vent that... I've been horrified by my states recent smoking bans... Even though I don't smoke tobacco. - inactive, on 01/20/2008, -7/+22His daughter would be over 18 now... 8th birthday, over a decade ago? 2+2 = 4?
- Goldkill, on 01/20/2008, -1/+15You have no idea what you're talking about.
- Oomsoup, on 01/20/2008, -0/+13Not everyone can keep up that level of smoking. I know for me, if I'm smoking 3 a day I can try to justify 4 a day, then 5 and so on until I'm smoking a pack a day again. I needed to quit completely.
- DavidGX, on 01/20/2008, -0/+13Maybe his daughter knew smoking kills and wanted her dad to NOT die? She's smarter than your stupid ass.
- LtXenodite, on 01/20/2008, -0/+12Not a decade ago. He smoked for over a decade, and at the end of that decade he stopped and went into the army, when his daughter was 8. Could be 4 or 5 years since then, no way to tell.
- MWeather, on 01/20/2008, -3/+14Or gave you cancer.
- coredump0x01, on 01/20/2008, -0/+11http://i30.tinypic.com/fbl1fo.jpg
- alextripp, on 01/20/2008, -1/+12i quit smoking cigs about 4 months ago. probably the best decision of my life
although i dont think it is unhealthy to enjoy a fine cigar every once in a while - eatasandwich, on 01/20/2008, -0/+11It's his daughters 8th birthday today
- DavidGX, on 01/20/2008, -2/+12As you're dying of lung cancer, the tobacco CEOs are laughing in your face and have already found many replacement smokers (a term they actually use, look it up) for you. I'm not trying to be an ass but I wish people would realize the harm these people do for $$$.
- rafaelmillan, on 01/20/2008, -2/+12While 3 a day is definitely better than a pack a day, I would still recommend quitting completely. Maybe for longtime smokers is easier to just decrease, but for young people there isn't a reason to keep smoking —not even one a day.
- bxblox, on 01/20/2008, -0/+10because many people like it, thats the way it works
- purag66, on 05/13/2009, -0/+9How old are you man? Life can be ***** up, but don't lose your will to live.
- Namaha, on 01/20/2008, -0/+9The point of a nicotine patch is to stop you from breathing in those toxic chemicals over and over.
- Exekutor, on 01/20/2008, -2/+11I did the same for my grandfather. When I was a kid, I asked him to quit, after being a heavy smoker for all his life, he just quited. I couldn't make him stop drinking though.
- Goldkill, on 01/20/2008, -0/+9If he never inhaled, then he could never have had any real 'urges'. To him, it couldn't have been an addiction, just a habit. No wonder he was able to quit with such little assistance.
- Locke2053, on 01/20/2008, -0/+9Pimpin ain't easy, but it's necessary.
- avisotin, on 01/20/2008, -4/+12You sad, sad person
- mrlivingston, on 01/20/2008, -2/+10That sure does explain his guttural voice.
- thrallie, on 01/20/2008, -1/+9I'll never stop smoking weed.
- iticu, on 01/20/2008, -0/+7Internet; SERIOUS BUISNESS.
- inactive, on 01/20/2008, -4/+11I am a long term smoker and know from first hand experience that smoking isn't health endowing. Rather smoke grass once in a while than tobacco once in a while or all the time.
- vu0u, on 01/20/2008, -2/+9i decided to stop smoking yesterday too, i'm smoking my fifth one today right now though :(
- Disease, on 01/20/2008, -1/+8And we'd all have electric cars!
- zeiben, on 01/20/2008, -1/+8Just like I enjoy high taxes and health insurance costs to subsidize their drinking and smoking. Just like their kids enjoy helping them lift their oxygen tank up the stairs. It's bonding, really....
- Goldkill, on 01/20/2008, -0/+7Sure, but they also know how bad these things are for them in the long term. Nobody quits purely because another person wants them to. They also want to have to do it themselves, and the other person gives them an additional incentive/encouragement.
- brentinkc, on 01/20/2008, -1/+8Technically? It's a ***** opinion! You can't prove that the world would be better without alcohol. Alcohol was used for years, and still is, to sterilize medical instruments. THE HORROR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
