- quomen, on 02/11/2009, -21/+835I don't think digg needs to be any more convinced about the safety or the argument for legalization of marijuana.
- freshpow, on 02/11/2009, -5/+267Pardon my ignorance but what does reinforcement mean?

- mlmorg, on 02/11/2009, -15/+195that's because this graph is ridiculous. you can't measure any of this with a simple 1-6 number. what does a 6 in intoxication even mean? nothing. i can't believe people are actually looking at this graph and thinking that it provides any sort of proof of...well....anything for that matter.
- orehitna, on 02/11/2009, -2/+152from the source that d2002 posted:
"Reinforcement: A measure of the substance's ability, in human and animal tests, to get users to take it again and again, and in preference to other substances." - inactive, on 02/11/2009, -0/+135I made this just for you. (free time at work + mspaint skillz = color charts.. apparently.)

- brianbb98, on 02/11/2009, -15/+127but but but IT'S ILLEGAL!!!
/only argument - TheEggAndI, on 02/11/2009, -3/+114huh, out of all those drugs, alcohol has the highest intoxication score. very interesting.
- erkokite, on 02/11/2009, -12/+116I've never seen it. When it is legal, it can stop hitting the front page.
- tushyd, on 02/11/2009, -6/+106I agree that marijuana is pretty harmless, but this graph is stupid.
There are no units! What's a unit of addiction? Very poor graph. - inactive, on 02/11/2009, -2/+84who does rainbow scale anymore? seriously?
- elizabethb221, on 02/11/2009, -1/+71Kindle.
- Rain12913, on 02/11/2009, -5/+62Everything seems to be pretty spot on except Nicotine's intoxication level is a 2 (out of 6) while Marijuana's is only a 3. Anyone else think that Marijuana is a bit more than 50% more intoxicating than Nicotine?
- metroidragon, on 02/11/2009, -2/+56Here Destros, I did this just for you.
http://www.safercolorado.org/images/clip_image003. ... - Tyrghast, on 02/11/2009, -1/+50Caffeine's a helluva drug...
- glberns, on 02/11/2009, -5/+54Enough with these things. This is like the third one I have seen on digg. Let me make this loud and clear... THERE IS NO WAY TO MEASURE AND COMPARE ANY OF THESE.
This graph proves nothing. You can't go up to a drug and do any kind of measurement on it to decide just how bad it is for you.
I could make a graph.... it wouldn't be any more right or wrong. - lendrick, on 02/11/2009, -4/+50Funny thing is, this graph omits a couple very important points:
* How likely is the drug to kill you?
* How long will it take said drug to kill you?
* How likely is it that the drug will ruin your life?
None of these is particularly bad for marijuana, but I'm sorry, I just don't buy that nicotine is really worse than heroin or cocaine. Cigarettes may kill you, but coke (particularly crack) and heroin will do you in a lot faster. Not that cigarettes are good for you -- it's safe to say that they're worse than alcohol, caffeine, and marijuana. - cm1265, on 02/11/2009, -25/+69How many times does this graph need to hit the front page?
- TrevorBelmont, on 02/11/2009, -7/+47As long as kids are in jail for possessing it, I welcome and encourage more of these articles. Unlike most of the other things Digg gets obsessive about (I-phone, The Dark Knight, bacon, mountain goats) this actually matters.
- downneck, on 02/11/2009, -2/+42racist kindle stoners?
- phuckpolitics, on 02/11/2009, -21/+60Legalize it.
- inactive, on 02/11/2009, -8/+45Dear Congress, etc old *****
Hello, we are the general population United States of America. We like pot. We are not just "those stupid lazy bastard children", we are your coworkers, your bosses, your gold medalists, your friends, your family, your children. We are your painters, writers, programmers, drivers, doctors, lawyers, president. We are free-thinkers, positive members of society who work day in and day out, roll models, atheists, CEOs, financial advisers, construction workers. We build your cars, your homes, your neighborhoods, your offices, your paycheck.
We are not the lazy, immature, ignorant, uninformed, lifeless sheep you label us. We are not the over zealous bible thumping, child spoiling, over sensitive, finding hidden messages in records and Disney movie freaks that you listen to and base your decisions off of.
We are America. We like pot. - BenderFlexo, on 02/11/2009, -5/+40What about the children? (and our white women?)
- Antimatt, on 02/11/2009, -0/+31You should care about his opinion. If you want your pots to be legal, you need non-smokers to be okay with legalizing it.
- drakenlot, on 02/11/2009, -1/+32It prove that graphs are overused to compare something that isn't comparable.
- Fand, on 02/11/2009, -11/+40Nicotine has more dependence than heroin? Alcohol has worse withdrawal than heroin? How was this data put together. lol
- DarkBlueAnt, on 02/11/2009, -4/+33It can be legal. I don't care.... but I still won't touch the stuff.
- inactive, on 02/11/2009, -4/+31They forgot an important row, "Ability to make you think you are God"
Nicotine (0), Heroin (1), Cocaine (100,000), Alcohol (5), Caffeine (0), Marijuana (1) - vegask, on 02/11/2009, -4/+31Its 2009, can we get a graph that is not in grayscale?
- Jeepinator, on 02/11/2009, -5/+30I'm pretty sure that drinking 3 cokes a day is healthier than 3 cigarettes a day.
- camg188, on 02/11/2009, -1/+25"I believe marijuana is far easier to grow than tobacco"
I've never grown tobacco in my closet, but they call marijuana weed for a reason. - N4S74, on 02/11/2009, -2/+26ya that's it.
Cocaine, for instance, lasts a short period of time and has unpleasant withdraw symptoms. This encourages users to continually use it so they never come down. Whereas marijuana last a relatively long period of time and doesn't cause withdraw. - aletoledo, on 02/11/2009, -1/+24It's a question of what is the definition of intoxication, not dependence as you've suggested. Intoxication is referring to impairment of decision making.
- kwasmosis, on 02/11/2009, -1/+23I think there are a lot of questionable implications on this graph. Alcohol is both more intoxicating and the withdrawal is more serious? Also, I am pretty sure the 'reinforcement' of Heroin is at least on the same level as Cocaine, if not greater and furthermore Susan, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they habitually smoked marijuana cigarettes, prior to creating this graph -- reefer!
This study is totally bogus. Although, I do agree with the overall message. - TrevorBelmont, on 02/11/2009, -0/+203 cups of coffee = 1 marijuana. What's unclear about that?
- limpits, on 02/11/2009, -2/+21i am all for legalization but that source link is b.s. and is just another article commenting on it without really saying how the study was performed.
i couldn't find the source in the first 2-3clicks so here is the NYTimes article that implies that the entire study was based off of what the subjects thought rather than any actual scientific evidence.

biased? yes.
poor argument? yes.
bad stance? no. - choopie911, on 02/11/2009, -5/+24racist
- AYOTTERIOT, on 02/11/2009, -5/+23was wondering the same thing
- mmittimm, on 02/11/2009, -11/+29So you're telling me that alcohol is potent than heroin, the drug said to feel better than an orgasm, which is only one step above cocaine, which is one step above weed? And nicotine, the habit you can generally kick with some willpower and some gum is more addictive than heroin, cocaine, and alcohol; drugs which you'll often need to check into rehab to get off of?
No, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. - rozlovesben, on 02/11/2009, -1/+18retardedest?
- thespiff, on 02/11/2009, -11/+28People keep forgetting it's been frontpaged so many times before.
I wonder why? - MLisa, on 02/11/2009, -2/+19Wish they had added death rates into the graph...for some reason I think marijuana would be low on the list.
- Brassbud, on 02/11/2009, -4/+20Yeah, I'm not sure how they come to that conclusion, as its a lot easier to kill yourself with heroin than boose.
- KimmyGibbler, on 02/11/2009, -2/+18I'm sure you could easily kill yourself with booze if you decided to directly inject it into your veins like heroin. I'm also sure it's easier to kill yourself that way than by eating heroin. Just sayin'
- rozlovesben, on 02/11/2009, -5/+21thank goodness i like coffee more than reefer!
- Innisskillin, on 02/11/2009, -6/+22It means any drug with a 6 rating in intoxication is more intoxicating than the other drugs which are less than 6.
I can understand it and I'm stoned. - baggler, on 02/11/2009, -1/+16Well if it is leagalized you could just grow your own and cut out the middle man.

What is Digg?
