- inactive, on 04/25/2009, -0/+52Cocaine is good for waking up, but sleep is better. Obvious article is obvious.
- staple, on 04/25/2009, -1/+47uh, we use caffeine and sugar when sleep isn't an option.
- darylspong, on 04/25/2009, -0/+40Sleep is good and all, but you can't exactly grab a nap at work as easily as you can grab a cup of coffee.
- ChromaVita, on 04/25/2009, -1/+28I don't think anyone thinks caffeine is genuinely more effective than sleep, but if you're short on sleep it sure helps. Sometimes you have to make a choice between finishing homework/some extra hours at work/toga party or a full 8 hours. Come Monday I'll take the caffeine and sugar.
- blast_flame, on 04/25/2009, -0/+19I can't get to sleep in 20 minutes...
- sageerrant, on 04/25/2009, -0/+13Coffee addict woman is kind of stupid.
If you consume a lot of caffeine and suddenly stop, of course you'll get headaches! It's a symptom of withdrawal.
Solution: get over yourself and deal with headaches for a day or two, or just reduce caffeine intake more gradually until you're down to a reasonable amount. - username7410, on 04/25/2009, -0/+11Good luck taking a nap when you need to meet a deadline.
- capnawesome, on 04/25/2009, -0/+11I'd like to point out the article linked in there-- 10 Questions to Ask a New Partner Before Having Sex, number 10 is "Which sexual activities do you want to engage in?"
..I think they're serious. - SanjiWatsuki, on 04/25/2009, -0/+8Brawndo! It's got electrolytes!
- copypastry, on 04/25/2009, -0/+8I think that question is basically the DDT to the mosquito of getting laid.
- BlackCow, on 04/25/2009, -0/+8*clutches is bottle of bawls:
Screw that, I've got coding to do, no time for sleep :-) - barbapapa78, on 04/25/2009, -0/+7In china they do take a nap at their desks after lunch, at least at the company I was visiting.
- kinesis8, on 04/25/2009, -3/+10Take a 20 min nap in the car during lunch break.
- Greenrascal, on 04/25/2009, -0/+6seriously who the fç*k has the ability to just nod off whenever? I need total silence and darkness, coffee and smokes FTW!
- RoloTomasie, on 04/25/2009, -0/+5Stop it, capnawesome, you're getting me hot.
- woofers07, on 04/25/2009, -0/+5So... I can just explain to my boss when I'm sleeping at my desk at 10:30 in the morning that it's better than caffeine. That'll go over well.
- Steeple, on 04/25/2009, -1/+6I AM SO ***** TIRED OF PEOPLE TELLING ME TO GET SOME SLEEP- YOU NEVER HEAR THEM SAY "OH HEY I'LL DO THAT FOR YOU!!!" YESS I HAVE HAD A COFFEE WHAT OF IT!!!!???
- inactive, on 04/25/2009, -0/+5I never sleep. I don't need it. I can keep on going forev
- tylerdurden09, on 04/25/2009, -0/+5Yeah...anyone knows that you need sleep.
There was a period of time in which I was neglecting sleep soooo much (college). I was getting less than 4 hours of sleep a night for about a month and a half. I think most nights I got around 2 hours.
And then I got sick...over and over and over and over and over again...the flu, the cold, bronchitis, bronchitis again, the flu, etc.,etc.,...
I don't recommend it. Sleep is awesome. - bdbr, on 04/25/2009, -0/+4Just be careful not to clutch your bawls too tightly.
- BoomShake007, on 04/25/2009, -1/+5Sleepiness is weakness in character, ask anyone.
- inactive, on 04/25/2009, -0/+4man you straight people are so chicken *****. lol.
I knew what my partner was into before I bothered wastin' my time. - abskure, on 04/25/2009, -0/+4Yes coffee does keep you awake. Well done. Who diggs this stuff? I use coffee to keep awake, if I had the time to sleep so much I wouldn't need it would i?
- darthjure, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3From the digg front page yesterday: Coffee may cut the risk of dementia by blocking the damage cholesterol can inflict on the body, research suggests.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7326839.stm - Samohtneas, on 04/25/2009, -2/+5I'm pretty sure this is common sense.. People who NEED caffeine and sugar to stay awake all day either work way too long or late, or they just don't go to sleep when they should. It's a nice boost and all but it wears off pretty quick.
Nothing beats a good dosage of Stage 4 NR and good ole' REM sleep. Helps the body and mind more than coffee ever will! - fxu1989, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3IT'S GOT WHAT THE PLANTS CRAVE!
- techlinks, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3Exactly, work places should allow time for rejuvenation, whether this be a 20 min nap, or massage, or coffee. Whatever keeps everyone happy and productive.
- SilverBlade2k, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2having a cup of coffee, or an energy drink at work looks a lot better than sleeping...
Plus, you'd be fired for sleeping at work. - zer0mass, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2Is this news? How about covering those pills that make it so your body shuts off the need for sleep? You can stay up for three days straight with no crash. Simply stop taking them and you can get a good night sleep on that third day. No stimulants involved.
- nullcodes, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2I hope nearly everyone already knew this. Still I guess it's a wake up call (err, bad pun alert), to get more sleep.
- mordeci, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2These coffee addicts have de-sensitized themselves to caffeine. After a while your brain adjusts to the caffeine and you need it just to where you would be if you never drank caffeine at all. I limit caffeine to when I really need it, never 2 days in a row and never more than a couple days a week. Then when I need that extra jolt, I drink a couple of diet Mountain Dews (I HATE coffee) and the caffeine really does its job.
- damnmonkey, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2Methylphenidate works for me.
- inactive, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2Smoking meth works pretty well. Saves time too, much quicker than a sleep.
- j035u5, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2"aim for a combination of protein and carbohydrates, like an apple with peanut butter". You just blew my mind Gail Belsky
- mattharvey716, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2i guess sleeping while driving would be a better idea than coffee or sleeping rather than staying up to get that essay done..
- SniperZero, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2I am going to link this article to my boss.
- burden555, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1Spam sites are that direction ---->
You must have gotten of at the wrong stop. - KMartSheriff, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1400 BABIES!!
- emt1451, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1Adderall is the replacement.
- staulkor, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1Well no ***** sleep is more effective. However, caffeine takes all of 10 minutes to kick in when sleep takes much more time. Caffeine is the supplement for alertness, not the replacement.
- Jacare, on 04/25/2009, -1/+2sugar doesn't give you a boost....
- sandipc, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1he keeps his bawls in a bottle, so it should be okay
- inactive, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1WOW.
Thanks for really thinking of me.
You're on my Christmas card list. - melonhedd, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1What? Every single energy drink tastes terrible.
- ViscidGobs, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1Did you tell them Monkeys and Cattle don't count?
- Spoomeister, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1and yet, if we all took a 2 or 3 hour nap in the middle of the workday, people would think we were lazy
- mark076h, on 04/25/2009, -3/+3But those energy drinks taste so good and they have vitamins in them!
- ViscidGobs, on 04/25/2009, -1/+1Spell that backwards! Quickly!
- mordeci, on 04/25/2009, -1/+1How ironic, when you fell asleep your head fell on the 'save reply' button.
