- dazparkour, on 04/14/2009, -1/+54PEOPLE are at risk of addiction.
You mention moms because the headline is more interesting. - inactive, on 04/14/2009, -0/+44Her laptop has feet.
- Baskinghobo, on 04/14/2009, -0/+21"Mom i'm hungry, whats for dinner?"
"I'll order pizza hut online"
"Woohoo!" - michaelpinto, on 04/14/2009, -0/+21Drug companies are you paying attention? This is a marketing opportunity...
- inactive, on 04/14/2009, -0/+20Starts out innocently enough, but pretty soon you'll do anything to get your next fix, and you find yourself out in a back alley giving blow jobs for bandwidth.
- ShyGuy91284, on 04/14/2009, -0/+17I'll bet the TV has been on during a good chunk of moments like those for the past few decades too, even though it isn't quite as easy to photograph with people like a laptop.
- Biscuitz, on 04/14/2009, -0/+16I don't see that as addiction, honestly. Addiction is something that causes you to neglect normal daily duties. Now if she had been neglecting her children over the computer, then yes, she'd be classified under an addiction. But simply running around with your laptop at hand most of the time, isn't an addiction. It's a way of life now.
- Dream0Weaver, on 04/14/2009, -1/+16This article reeks crap.
- iticu, on 04/14/2009, -0/+14Dads have no responsibilities then, or university students.
Making the distinction for mums is arbitrary because alot of people use the internet to escape responsibilities and problems. =| - JAMMR, on 04/14/2009, -0/+11First they have feet, then they become self aware.
- asskicker32, on 04/14/2009, -0/+11I choose to believe she dictated this to her assistant...
- dazparkour, on 04/14/2009, -0/+10Agreed - when you take a picture of someone watching TV, the TV tends to be opposite the person and therefor out of frame.
The poor laptop is just getting flak because you sit next to it. - JAMMR, on 04/14/2009, -1/+11Your ex had sex with the internets?
- smemily, on 04/14/2009, -1/+10Uh, guilty as charged, but when one is nursing a new baby this is one of the easiest ways to socialize and keep from going stir-crazy.
- xDynaBlade, on 04/14/2009, -2/+10No, you mention moms because other than cooking, they have nothing else to do.
- Scrollfx, on 04/14/2009, -6/+13Go look up new pie recipes, then go bake me a pie.
- smemily, on 04/14/2009, -0/+7As opposed to a used one, of course.
- lemur, on 04/14/2009, -2/+9Because nobody can understand why she would so often sit and stare at the magic notebook in her lap. Would she have said the same thing if all of her family photos showed her holding a book? People would be like, oh how intellectual! How refined! Nobody says, "I'm addicted to reading; I have a problem." Some people use the computer primarily for music or videos, but most people are using computers to read.
- Dan050, on 04/14/2009, -3/+10The irony is that she is writting about this 'addiction' while being on the computer...
- kateyall, on 04/14/2009, -1/+8Psh, whatever. The internet is freaking awesome. You know what isn't awesome? My two year old yelling at me all the time. Yeah. It sucks. Thank god for my escape vessel.
- slanted, on 04/14/2009, -0/+6No kidding. I must be addicted to my cellphone, because it's always on me.. and pants, because they're always on me too.
- chicagojack, on 04/14/2009, -5/+11I like MILFS.....oh wait, this is about mom's, not Milfs...... burried
- serif69, on 04/14/2009, -0/+6It's one of the build-to-order options on those new MacBooks.
- internalprime8, on 04/14/2009, -0/+6I'm working on my pants addiction but society doesn't make it easy.
- dazparkour, on 04/14/2009, -1/+6European here - I would have used OF internet addiction.
I assumed it was American. - evisr8r, on 04/14/2009, -1/+6I'd rather have a mom playing MMO's or spending alot of time on facebook or myspace than downing black betties and drinking all the time. (The previous method of coping with a full-time home life)
- dazparkour, on 04/14/2009, -3/+8"New Baby"?
Not like those Old Babys. - bratterscain, on 04/14/2009, -0/+5Really. All the other alternatives are just different forms of information exchange just as the internet. What else is there really to do? Being an animal, in general, is all about exchanging information/dna for those conglomerations of information to survive. Mounds of information, exchanging information, that's basically who we are.
And with that said, yeah, I spend entirely too much time on the internet and ideally, it's best to have some balance with what we do. - mHtt, on 04/14/2009, -0/+4No u should keep ignoring your second kid as well. If you don't they'll remind their older sibling of how mom stopped gaming when they were born, ergo loves them more.
- smemily, on 04/14/2009, -0/+4:) Actually what I was getting at is that later on, when the baby's say, 8 months old, it's easier to get out of the house, but in the first couple of months it's darned near impossible. You need two arms to hold them, minimum, because they can't even hold their heads up yet.
- mHtt, on 04/14/2009, -0/+4I'm pretty sure EVERYONE is at risk for this addiction...
- techdever, on 04/14/2009, -0/+4Go Skynet!
- frcc, on 04/14/2009, -0/+4Do the right thing, turn on the TV.
- charlie6969, on 04/14/2009, -0/+4Internet is where I get my news, keep in touch with family, learn new things and research questions that I might have.
Considering it has replaced, mostly, my phone, encyclepedia, dictionary and newspapers; it is no wonder that we have it around a lot. - inmymindzi, on 04/14/2009, -0/+4Then we can have people addicted to the Internet AND prescription drugs.
- dOOBiEx213, on 04/14/2009, -1/+5...said the Digger.
- Risingashes, on 04/14/2009, -1/+4Isn't it only an addiction if you cannot stop yourself even when something is causing you harm?
Unless she's watching tv, speaking on the phone, reading a book or eating where the hell does she expect herself to be? - xDynaBlade, on 04/14/2009, -1/+4All my mom ever talks about anymore is what's happening on FaceBook or various forums she visits... it gets pretty annoying after a while..
- FrequencyX, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3I'm guilty as charged. But on the other hand, my daughter loves the laptop and is only 6 months old. I think of it as a nice father daughter geeky bonding time.
- Wilddigi, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3Internet is full of porn. Especially JTV
http://www.justin.tv/clip/60b6946acace89ab - jfsimard79, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3I had the same problem. In all of my sons baby pictures, videos, I'm playing a PS2 game or Diablo. Kinda sad actually. However, I just found out we're having another baby so this time I won't mess it up.
- sgvprelude, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3I bet she's on AshleyMadison.
- hogie222, on 04/14/2009, -0/+2The cause of my mom's Internet Addiction: hogie.tumblr.com
- s0nicfreak, on 04/14/2009, -0/+2Taking care of her kids? Cleaning the house?
- snogye, on 04/14/2009, -0/+2Dugg for title.
- dazparkour, on 04/14/2009, -0/+2You don't say?
- Paulish, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2>.< I can't believe I clicked that. Really, what the hell else was I expecting?
- Memnochxx, on 04/14/2009, -0/+2He's not complaining about it though.
- Paulish, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2Just make sure its not Dominoes. Didn't you see that video on YouTube?
