- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -24/+117This is one reason we need RP in... Let the states decide... I voted for the medical marijuana when I lived in California, only to find out we won, and that the federal govt said no... That was the point I thought, what is the ***** purpose of voting.
- BassMastr, on 01/02/2008, -4/+79Simple solution.
If this is what the people voted for... let them smoke Pot!!
If you don't like it...don't smoke it. - thrallie, on 01/02/2008, -4/+44San Diego, California where I live has outlawed medical marijuana. It's almost impossible to get a prescription here, and all dispensaries are closed. I have a friend who has a weed prescription for clinical depression, but he has to go to L.A or use a delivery service. I have severe depression as well, but I cannot get a prescription for it (the doctors just don't believe a 19 year old with long hair and a beard). So I went off my medicine (wellbutrin) and started toking up twice daily and I've never been better. I got rid of all side effects associated with the medicine, I no longer take any medicine. I had to take two drugs to control the side effects of the first drug.
I ***** hate big pharma. - vault, on 01/02/2008, -2/+40Marijuana should be legal federally. Proposition 215 is just a baby step in the right direction. No government, whether state, federal, or local should have the right to tell you it isn't ok to smoke pot while simultaneously profiting off taxed alcohol.
We all pay for the drug war and incarcerated non-violent offenders no matter what state we live in. - Error601, on 01/02/2008, -8/+45CA discovers the results of the Civil War.
- bdub92, on 01/02/2008, -3/+40"putting money into the pockets of organized crime and terrorists." Terrorists? Wtf?
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -10/+43Ron Paul would leg-
* neck snap * - thing01, on 01/02/2008, -2/+32We need to stop asking for our right to smoke "medical" pot, and start DEMANDING for our right to smoke recreational pot.
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -1/+25Pot is the mainstream. It's just most of us are still afraid to admit it. It is America's biggest secret. Everybody smokes, but nobody wants to own up (unless they are around other smokers) to it.
- mulling, on 01/02/2008, -5/+26Hey everybody, before you go legalizing marijuana, think about the jobs that will be lost. Nice cushy jobs for policemen, lawyers, and judges, prison guards. Jobs where all they have to do is arrest, extort money from, and imprison harmless pot smokers (seriously, when have you heard of a violent pothead?!). It's not easy getting easy government jobs like this anywhere else.
Really, think about the jobs. Without illegal marijuana, these people will actually have to work for a living! Don't you think they deserve a welfare system? After all, they work hard to protect you from dangerous marijuana smokers. - Killian14, on 01/02/2008, -4/+25I never understood why it was so wrong to smoke some ***** vegetation. There are more men in prison for drug use than for violent crimes, in a country that has more men in prison than any other and highest prison rates of atleast all the developed countries.
- purpmint008, on 01/02/2008, -8/+28Legalize it! Nationally!
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -2/+21"The South Will Rise Again" doesn't necessarially mean the southern states.
It's an anthem against centralized power, and the indestructability of truth, even if the South did lose the war.
And don't flame me. Slavery would have ended anyway. The Civil War did a good job at utterly destroying States' Rights though. - scabbers, on 01/02/2008, -2/+21Torture is legal, but medical weed isn't... thanks a lot supreme court.
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -4/+21I live in California. There are medical marijuana places everywhere. And it is safe to say that 8/10 people who go into those places are not sick. I should know because I drive my uncle to those places and he obtained a license just to supply his habit. And, there's nothing wrong with that! Most of the people going to these places are smoking for recreational reasons. Do I see the sky falling? No. Is society coming to a stand still? No. Everything is fine. Life continues on...the state of California is not filled with a population of zombie stoned out people. So, the federal government just needs to chill and let things be!
- mulling, on 01/02/2008, -3/+19Correct me if I'm wrong, but EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE pledged to stop harassing medical marijuana in the states that choose it. The republicans (except RP) all admit they will continue pissing on democracy. (If only there was a party of limited government...)
- starkruzr, on 01/02/2008, -1/+17wtf
How does that make any sense? - thing01, on 01/02/2008, -2/+17Oh please, you can make the exact same argument for alcohol or cigarettes. The rest of the population shouldn't be prohibited from owning their bodies, just because some stupid pregnant woman is irresponsible. The fact is Marijuana should be legal... Not medically, but recreationally for adults. Please... give me your best argument for the contrary.
- mulling, on 01/02/2008, -0/+15You're right. So why don't we put them to work in positions that help society, rather than ones where they rob innocent, able-bodied citizens and put them in jail?
- mulling, on 01/02/2008, -1/+15The same applies to alcohol, or aspirin, or granulated sugar. What kind of a world do we live in, where adults are expected to make adult choices about what they do with their bodies and their lives? Someone needs to do their thinking for them. Does everyone think we got where we are by letting people think for themselves?
- b8man99, on 01/02/2008, -1/+15Wow - what an evil government that takes effective medicine away from sick people. Almost as if they were being lobbied by the alcohol, cotton and pharmaceutical companies.
- mulling, on 01/02/2008, -3/+16The civil war wasn't about slavery anyway, it started because the industrialized north wanted to extract money from the agricultural south through tariffs on foreign goods. The south wasn't down, and said "Hey we're getting ***** in this deal...we're out."
It was only for the sake of strategy that the slaves were freed. Lincoln was an unabashed racist and didn't care about freeing the slaves one bit. As soon as the war was over everyone went back to being racist and exploiting the blacks, just through different means. The more you know about history, the less you're able to be patriotic and keep a straight face.
Think about it, every other country that gave up slavery did it without resorting to epic, bloody civil war. - casek, on 01/02/2008, -5/+18it's our choice. i wonder how much money the beer companies are pumping in to keep marijuana illegal?
- shiftless, on 01/02/2008, -0/+13Nobody cares about pot anymore. I don't use it but millions do. Why it hasn't been legalized is baffling.
- Idrive, on 01/02/2008, -0/+12The sad part is that guy is facing a minimum of 20 years and a maximum of life. That is insane.
- Makaveli604, on 01/02/2008, -2/+14*cough libertarian cough*
- SIRBERUS, on 01/02/2008, -1/+13Teenagers can also walk into many liquor stores with (and sometimes without) a fake license and purchase beer.
Other people will fake symptoms to get their hands on hardcore painkillers.
Some people even rob pharmacies for the drugs they want.
So yes, people will get medical marijuana whether they need it or not... like they do with every other substance imaginable.
My question to you: Why is it any of your business what a person puts in their body? Especially a substance as harmless as marijuana (and if you disagree with that, you'd best be packing some references/studies). - localzuk, on 01/02/2008, -1/+13No, you're being dugg down because you don't understand humour
- plr4ever, on 01/02/2008, -0/+11And the cause
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -5/+15Learn to spell douche, also you're getting dugg down because people think you're a *****.
- OrangeTide, on 01/02/2008, -1/+11We can just put reckless drivers in jail instead. Plenty of idiots out on the streets causing more harm than medical marijuana ever has.
- b8man99, on 01/02/2008, -1/+11I think smoking anything in public places is banned. But they're smashing people's doors in to catch them smoking in their own homes. The illegality has got nothing to do with concern for public health.
- thing01, on 01/02/2008, -0/+10Even if they don't smoke pot, do they really want to see their friends who do thrown in jail or fined? Prohibition of marijuana is simply wrong.
- GeorgeWKush, on 01/02/2008, -17/+27Truthfully, I hope there is never total legalization. I still need to make money off of this stuff.
- JoeKickass, on 01/02/2008, -1/+11Munchies.
- sgtpppr, on 01/02/2008, -0/+10Unfortunately, the majority does not hold personal freedom and liberty very high on the priority list. In a democracy, society is run under the oppression of the majority. Americans are very willing to ban/legislate anything that does not affect them. Because the majority of Americans do not regularly smoke pot, they have absolutely no problem making it illegal. Part of living in a society is understanding and accommodating OTHERS, but this is just not the American way. Somehow it became truth that all things should be legislated. If a single person is killed because of a single unique situation, they'll make laws regarding it. How many laws/regulations are on the books now? Millions? Gov't should protect people from other people...that is all.
- subterfuge, on 01/02/2008, -1/+10NO.
1. declare this FEDERAL anti-medical marijuana law unconstitutional, because it most certainly is
2. let the states decide their own marijuana laws. especially pennsylvania. which is where i live.
3. make it illegal for the federal government to bribe states with tax money stolen from the citizens of that state. this is the reason the drinking age is 21 - the federal government said it would withhold highway funding from the states if they didn't comply. - subterfuge, on 01/02/2008, -2/+11i really hate it when people say Lincoln was a great president. The reason the north won the civil war was because they had greater industrial output and population, not because lincoln was leading the armies into battle while carring a two-story flag. the north's victory was completely independent of lincoln. if the south had prevailed in seceding, "lincoln" would be one of the most infamous names in american history. Lincoln is an analogue to King George III - but it just so happens that he won his war.
- GeorgeWKush, on 01/02/2008, -0/+9When people support drug prohibition, they don't think about their friends or family potentially going to jail. Drug prohibitionists are among the most short sighted people on the planet.
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -0/+8http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonzales_v._Raich
"Justice Thomas, dissenting.
Respondents Diane Monson and Angel Raich use marijuana that has never been bought or sold, that has never crossed state lines, and that has had no demonstrable effect on the national market for marijuana. If Congress can regulate this under the Commerce Clause, then it can regulate virtually anything–and the Federal Government is no longer one of limited and enumerated powers." - inactive, on 01/02/2008, -0/+7Actually we have the highest jailing rates of them all, last I seen.
- thredden, on 01/02/2008, -1/+8you know there are ways of intaking THC without all of the negative carcinogens, check out

and whats funny is after i was done with work last night a 5 in the morning my friend offered me a cig. I took about 2 hits and almost puked. I am so glad i quit.
but hey, if you look at it from a ron paul point of view, smoke em if you got em if you want to.... whatever em is... - whahaa, on 01/02/2008, -0/+7lmao i might be high but that was hilarious.
- heavyd14, on 01/02/2008, -0/+7Like the saying goes, the difference between a patriot and a traitor is how successful they are.
- Corrosionx, on 01/02/2008, -0/+7Organized crime wouldn't make a cent off it if it was truly legal.
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -1/+7Trust the dems.....not!
- ZxEfR, on 01/02/2008, -3/+9Oh they care! Don't kid yourself.....a lot of people that drink would stop drinking for the most part and switch to mj....mj is not nearly as bad for you as alcohol and when the masses find that out...the alcohol dealers will lose out big time.
- Misaiato, on 01/02/2008, -1/+7Poor terrorists. The kind that egg your neighbor's house in the name of Allah. The really violent mother ***** won't get out of bed to sell less than a key of opium.
- sgtpppr, on 01/02/2008, -0/+6It's none of your business. A doctor sees no harm in prescribing it and it's up to the person to take responsibility for themselves.
- defektiv, on 01/02/2008, -0/+6look at the tens of billions of dollars we spend a year on 'the drug war' and you'll understand a couple things. one, why politicians at the federal level fight so hard to keep it going. and two, why they make the obligatory dispensary raid every once in a while to make the elitist snobs crying about it destroying the world around them as they stay locked up in their mansions feel that that money is being spent on "the drug war."
wars are the rich elitists way of pushing an issue away from them they don't want to deal with. -
