- kflott, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hehe... as a resident of Louisiana (Lafayette, in fact) it's nice to see us in the news for something positve
- zydehkim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Go Louisiana! I don't get to say that too often!
- shazbot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Amen to that!
- Codee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My mother had an extremely aggressive case and lost her battle. It happens.
Yet, so many women do beat the crap outta' it, Keep ya' head up, yours wil too.
All the best. - Codee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Any step to beating this thing is worth a digg from me anyday. Too bad I only have one.
- bjboth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4My grandmother has breast cancer, and any new technology that helps her out gets a digg from me. Post-surgery drugs are very expensive ($200/month), and it's hard to afford them. Now that there's hope for reducing the side-effects, hopefully they can work on the price....
- laserman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Glad to see that the study was designed and evaluated by the same guy who owns, promotes and markets the technology. Also nice to see the study hasn't been peer reviewed, presented at a conference, or published. Sweeet Digggg!
- gp120, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not to mention this guy hasn't published any papers since 1995 and the only published clinical trial I can find for LED Photomodulation wasn't even placebo controled.
- Boofster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Save the boobies!
- itanshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i think you missed the first 10 comments
- rathofbuns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Akira,
I'm sorry to hear about your mom. You might want to visit flowersforhope.com. The idea is that you can plant a flower for someone with cancer, and send them an inspirational message. Just something to brighten her day.
- buns - billycats, on 06/16/2009, -0/+0Breast cancer treatment information needed for this question?
At a prominent state hospital, a 45-year-old woman is receiving a ‘combined modality’ treatment for the initial stage of breast cancer. State the two aspects included in this treatment. State the methods by which a radiation oncologist can administer these therapies. Additionally, state four major differences between the two modes of treatment.

- rathofbuns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's also another treatment called hyperthermia. This company has figured out how to focus microwaves on tumors, heat them to high fever temperature which weakens the tumor, making it more (up to twice) as vulnerable to radiation treatments with only minor side effects. It's FDA approved. It's worth taking a look at. http://www.TreatWithHeat.com (no ads on the site).
- DasBub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"exposing women to low energy non- thermal light-emitting diode photomodulation can significantly reduce painful, treatment interrupting skin reactions"
So in other words, shining a light on the tit.
This is the same crap that every shopping channel has been hocking for a couple of years. I have nothing against the idea of a placebo treatment to give the patient a positive outlook and sense of control, but don't dress it up as anything BUT placebo when media attention and (likely) money are involved. You haven't made a stunning discovery, this isn't going to change the treatment protocol for breast cancer patients, and you're either naive, stupid, or lying if you say or think otherwise.
It's just an LED; it doesn't emit special rays of healing energy. - Morra1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Also glad to see the comments are immature and dismissive of a painful and serious subject.
- dodoporridge, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1For a moment I thought this story was some kind of joke, because of the guy's name--Maitland DeLand. Those are two towns in Florida, so it sounds so much like a made-up name to me. And then the comments begin with someone saying, "My home town!" It was funny.
- julienbh, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Kill the newbies!

Painful, treatment interrupting skin reactions build character. - ahthrift, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0Hrmm, Light Emitting Diodes... Sounds like one of those bullocks weight reduction ad's in the Taiwanese magazines.
Don't forget LED's can fix anything, make you lose weight, make you look like a super model. Especially the blue ones, they are extra special. - loginname, on 10/12/2007, -13/+3Hey! My home town.
I'm sitting here in Lafayette right now.
Nice to see Lafayette make Digg, espically for something great like this.
Now if we can just get our Fiber problems worked out, we'll be set.
