- Slummock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22I'd say most of the people that use Digg are addicted to the internet.
- steger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12not if your girlfriend is addicted more than you are.
- film42, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9That would be me... lol
- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5ReloadEvery is like going to a methadone clinic for your fix ... F5 is where it's at.
- gfixler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"...suddenly an hour has gone by...?"
What in the world? I don't spend a full hour *off* the net in a day, ever. I've tried all that out-of-doors reality crap. It sucked. My only trouble is this stupid body getting in the way. I have to feed it, empty things out of it a few times a day, walk it around once in awhile so its legs will wake up again, clean it sometimes, and pick it back up off the floor and check for damage after it suddenly powers down every 18 or so hours. I have to use it to "read" information, and then twiddle parts of it convey information back into the system. What a load of crap. Just hook me up directly and use the body to power some kind of enormous voltage collection grid. I swear. - stanthegoomba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm not addicted; I can stop at any time!
*Cmd-R* - kuratkull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Girlfriend sleeping in bed. Me surfing the net ^^
Anyway 12+ hours a day in the net. I need serious help :P - linuxpunk81, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm addicted and I dont care
- MonkeyFarts, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Of course it's possible. Anything can become an addiction, from the Internet to video games to making money and/or your job to academics to sports. It's simply a matter of how much time one puts into a particular action or thing compared to others. The Internet is obviously extremely addicting, as there are so many things that rely on the Internet, such as video games, news sites like Digg, blogs, E-mail, podcasts. These things can easily get you hooked on the Internet, therefore making you addicted.
- toppgun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3OK, let me lay it out. something can be addicting, such as drugs and alcohol. but you can have an addictive personality and be addicted to something like the internet. it doesnt mean that the internet itself is addictive, just that you personally have an addiction to it, mental, not physical.
- rolandog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I used to be a total 'net addict... gradually quitting.
My grandma used to say that if I spent any more time in front of the computer, the line between my buttocks would disappear.
I'm actually spending less time on the net now that I graduated. Some spare time, and some motivation can do wonders for your health! I've been spending more time with friends, playing sports... already lost 22 pounds in a month, and I'm only halfway done.
But, then again, I don't want to totally quit the Internet. I guess I've learned that the excess of everything is bad.
So, I guess that what I'm trying to say is that... moderation of Internet usage plays a key role in avoiding the disappearance of the line that sepparates your buttocks. - bchang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You know what after reviewing my internet usage I am addicted. I will be going offline for two days in 2 hours joing me.
- autodata, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I guess I'm seriously messed up then.
- KissTheRing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hell yeah I am, and it's only going to get worse now with Digg v3
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So THIS is Digg3.0
Why is it that while I am typing a comment, it is rendered in, like, 2 point type, so that i can barely read it? is there a font preference setting hidden somewhere, or is this just a glitch in the new program? - Ziggy7273, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thats exactly what makes sence
- Duelus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm Addicted :) and I'm fine with being addicted to the internet.
- billyh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Have loptop, will travel. I've passed up sex for the freaking Internet. I would at least have remembered the sex. What was I doing those nights? Nada. Updating a site on the latest news. Snore...
- sparkmonkeyz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is true that you can be addicted to the Internet, but it is mearly a mental addiction. A physical addiction would be to like cocaine, where your brain is actually altered. If you have ever taken a psychology you would to understand this.
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It hasn't solved anything for me. Thankfully. I don't WANT to break my addiction to the internet.
- majorbabu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1..... and I just read all those comments. .... yes, i'm addicted too.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hate digg stories that reqire a login to view them.
It's funny how pseudo scientists, interested in the further dumbing down of everyone, neglected to ever brand television as addictive, but now they're going after the internet! - jakeadams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.diggmirror.com
- ppidgeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My name is Paul and I'm a netaholic.
Personally I would prefer to be called a net potato. Since I usually have the TV on mute just to the left of me with a ball game while I'm reading the various news items in my aggregator and making the occasional posts to my blog while drinking my root beer and eating Cheetos. - ihatebillg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1day four of no internet at home was at work on both saturday and sunday just for a fix
little to no sleep, hours on the phone with TDS and AT&T,only blackberry internet - yllabianbitpipe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The internet is my job (web design), and I can admit I'm addicted to the internet. Is this like being an alcoholic bartender?
- D4RKfantasy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Im actually pretty far into the internet addiction.
I actually feel anxious when my Netvibes page has no new items, its just f5 after f5, for hours on end.
I need help... - Lynx34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1*sobs* I'm a netaholic... I JUST CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT NETAHOL!!!!! *sobs*
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Must.....digg.....article.....no.....must.....stop....no.......no.....
- DarkPrince11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yup Im a netaholic..Im on the net doing something for at least 8 hrs in a day...every day.......the sad life of a geek..you would think that we would need to go to the bathroom or go outside for some fresh air..but nope..
- defectDS, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I'm so addicted, I made it my job to make it better! Bring on the Web Design!
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I use the internet several hours a day- when i'm at home with nothing to do. When I have work or I am away or out, its not like I am craving to get back onto my laptop. Its just that around where I live, there is nothing, my freinds are away, my girlfreind is away, and the most worth while thing I have to do most of the day is spend time learning and informing myself about the wonders of the inter web
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3The best cure is to get a girlfriend.
If that doesn't work then you are seriously messed up. - abdim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Maybe it is related to that opioid hit you get from new knowledge?
- steene01, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Hi, I'm steene01 and I'm a netoholic.
- Orbital, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im rather be addicted to the internet than crack or something...
o wait i am :( - toppgun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1burry
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I tried cold turkey to almost end in a coma. This ***** is worse than cocaine.
- cmiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No offense toppgun, but an addiction is an addiction, whether or not it's an addictive drug. Getting what you want releases chemicals in your brain, gives you that nice feeling, that's still an addiction. I would agree that it's not as obvious as say heroin, but it's there...
Remember that kid that died playing online too much? Yeah... I wouldn't just call him an 'internet enthusiast". - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm addicted I admit. Now the question is, is this a problem? Should we fight it?
- DonG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, being addicted to the Internet is better than being addicted to tv at least its interactive. I think its a good thing.
- ganlet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ive always been addicted to the internet but with the invention of wireless networking at the consumer level any chances of kicking the addiction went out the door.
as far as the gf thing goes shes my background, and hey shes got her own laptop - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i need help too :(
- bbardlbradd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is my day....
Wake up, check everything online, get out of bed, eat a litte, look around, look around online for misc stuff, do luandrey, while waiting for that to get done I sit around on the web, then I go to work, maybe a party or hang out afterwords, then it's back to the interent and to bed...... then I'll wake up and check the web the next morning..... It's like that.... I'd say I'm pretty dependent on it.... although if I didn't have it, i wouldn't be like "OMF, I NEED IT" - datatribe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Internet addiction? Or effective treatment for ADHD? Works for me.*
*non scientific study results. not an endorsement for news, news feeds, news feed aggregators or lists of aggregators of news feeds from aggregated sources - bbardlbradd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1OMF, Yeah, real positive social interaction could spell disaster for the internet. Of caurse, that could lead to Binge surfing or closet surfing which may become more addicting becuase of the level of risk... of getting caught.
- friend18, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I think I'm addicted. I spend hours online.
- thedude1181984, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The internet AND video games are both extremely addictive. Why? Because over time they keep getting better and better....
- krisper, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Give yourself this simple test: if your employer (for those who have one) were to make it office policy that no surfing or external messaging is allowed during business hours, and that external email is restricted to management, how would you feel? If you answer is some variation of "angry", or that your rights have somehow been violated, you're an addict. If the first thing you do when you get home and the last thing you do before going to bed is to sit down and go online, you're an addict. Otherwise, you're fine and you have nothing to worry about.
- thestorey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1You can bet your sweet ass i am !
