Seeing that rez on a 1&1/2 inch screen would look pretty highdef.... - supdawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Intel's making a mobile chip that supports sm 3.0
- piratearggghhh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Are people really that bored that they need to be entertained or stimulated every second of every day by some electronics device?
- directedition, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's right Mr.Fatal1ty, I'm gonna P0WN you with my CELL PHONE!
- ZekeSulastin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, I doubt that a phone would be the primary target for such a chipset ... Dell Axim x50v/x51v has an Intel 2700g accelerator in it - this would be a logical next step for such a device ... *prepares to buy Axim x52v next year*
- BitSlash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How awesome would it be to have a LAN party on your cell phone?
++Digg - chandler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1More reason as to why nVidia is better than ATi
- dj_sea2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"since when was 1024 by 768 hidef resolution?"
it is for a phone - snoldak924, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Ever heard of 720i and p? That's high def, just in a different form factor (16:9). TV is something like 640x480 (480i) normally, so technically, anything higher than that is High Def."
Um, no. High definition is 1080 lines or verticle resolution.
Wow, I love it when people think "I said it so it must be right". High definition is defined as 720i or higher. Don't be a dumbass. - Enigmastrat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ever heard of 720i and p? That's high def, just in a different form factor (16:9). TV is something like 640x480 (480i) normally, so technically, anything higher than that is High Def.
- RWTechgage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This likely beats out my laptop video card :-)
Nice to see that NVIDIA is putting out a product that will actually last for some time, with capabilities as such. - jguy584, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They should put it in the next video ipod
- zeebo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who cares about phones. This thing can drive high res output, and has better 3d performance than an i910 and is really light on the power consumption. Put it in low power consumption laptops.
- ek3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Half Life ftw
- frem001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0""They need to put these in Sony PSP's."
I think the PSP's GPU(or cpu) is stronger, but this chip is so small and requires little power that it can go in a phone... The PSP's chip is larger and requires a much higher energy input.""
PSP Lite
Now they need to work on a good keypad so games will be playable on mobile phones - Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0um, no thanks. lol
- mikwit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0could be used as a super small carpc, crazy how small things are getting
- anamanaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thats awesome. I'd love to be able to play halflife 2 on my pocketpc provided they could figure out a decent control scheme
- TheDarkTipper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This will make me want a cell phone even more now.
- zeebo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0theres the geode, its supposed to be pretty decent for the power consumption.
And I think it would be more like putting a voodoo3 with a p2 450, which sounds like a good amount of power to me. - Ace2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I bet someone will put linux on it and hook it up to a monitor or a TV and play some game on it :D
And i think it could be done, just no clue how - yorch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Does this mean I can play me some Riven on my phone soon?"
You can already:

Um, no. High definition is 1080 lines or verticle resolution. - tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yay gaming on my phone. Pfft, I barely play any games on my Cell.
TV content on the phone, HD... - bnolsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a GPU only or can also serve as a general function CPU?
Could this be cheaply dropped into a system like the GP2x to replace the ARM 940T video coprocessor? Or as an option for the $100 MIT laptop? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0since when was 1024 by 768 hidef resolution?
- MrKite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Until my cell phone supports a keyboard and mouse, I couldn't care less!
Just kidding... but someone had to say it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They need to put these in Sony PSP's.
- citrusfizz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0YES
- supdawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's not more powerful than a 9700, the article said it was playstation level 3d. Cell phone games are the devil!!!!
- bi0metric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They need to put it in the new xbox handhelds! I don't think Nvidia wants to waste their money and put it in PSPS lol ahhahahahahah
- megaflops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now I can die happy, The future just come...Juaz
- medieval, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0plus, it "supports" HDCP!!
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"They need to put these in Sony PSP's.
L2006"
umm no. The PSP has 40 FPS right now. Why go down? - kolop1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 I love this idea. I can run my cell phone battery down playing games. Who needs to make phone calls.
- nmcglennon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0NGAGE 2!! haha
- kohan69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Uhm... "The company says that with the GoForce 5500, gamers can experience Quake 3 equal to that of the original PlayStation"
QUAKE 3 Never came out on PlayStation... - ravuya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Their goforce chipsets have ALWAYS been for mobile development. You may be confusing them with the GeForce Go series, which are intended for laptops (I've got one in my Powerbook).
There are a lot more cellphones coming out with 3D capabilities; I know a few people who worked on Qualcomm's prototype slider with a Quakelike demonstration. - splitfyre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can see this being implemented in docomo phones in Japan.
- TridenTBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Ever heard of 720i and p? That's high def, just in a different form factor (16:9). TV is something like 640x480 (480i) normally, so technically, anything higher than that is High Def."
Um, no. High definition is 1080 lines or verticle resolution.
WRONG, 720p is true high def. As it is only a bit off from 1megapixel. 1080p is 2 megapixel...Screw 1080p..That's higher resolution than my monitor can go :( (Almost same with 720p) - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How ***** useless is this??
God...when will people learn...cell phones are PHONES. - vernsan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone ever thought of maybe implementing this would suck your batteries life out super fast?
- Thmstec, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow, how long until everyone is reviewing the latest SLI cell phone?
- Masterp9896, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Am i correct when saying is is as powerfull as a 9700?????
thats nuts. - hollywoodone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the controls for quake would work flawless.
- MrKite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It would be nice if tech companies focused more on making cell phones not lose their connection first.
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Excellent. 10 megapixel pr0n viewer. :D
Probably more for PDAs than phones. - Darth_tater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0one more reason y nvidia is better than ATI
