- Sarki, on 10/12/2007, -4/+34I'm pretty sure it's a joke. You know, I don't think cavemen still walk the earth.
- SuperADAM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28Someone should come up with a device that would not only be able to rip CDs to and put them on your iPod, but also surf the web, send emails and play games and videos. It could have a screen to watch and a board of keys for when you need to type something.
That's what this thing needs to be worth it... - koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -8/+36Hey, I have a huge CD collection, that doesn't mean I'm a "caveman". I think the people who rip their CDs as mp3s then junk them are losing out. The only CDs I get rid of are those I've ripped in a lossless format like Apple Lossless or FLAC.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23I'll have the roast duck, with the mango salsa.
- kikkomang, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25iShot my iLoad
- tehbear, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23@Sarki
I'm a caveman who walks the earth today and didn't find the "joke" funny in the least.
I say good day to you sir! - captjc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17@tehbear
Wow, Digg is so easy, even a caveman can use it. - audioscience, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13"At $299, though, the iLoad seems like an iRipoff"
Agreed. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16I'll have the roast duck with the mango salsa.
- Brajeshwar, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14I don't think so, I still have lots of CDs and I can't go about ripping them all. I think all medias will still continue to have their own share of spaces.
- sullyz0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8A great idea for those that can't be bothered to rip a large CD collection, but I certainly wouldn't spend $299 on it.
- Lixie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It costs $299! I could go buy a a really cheap low-end PC for about 400-500 dollars. I'll throw down the extra 100-200 dollars to have a fully functional computer that would also allow me to edit playlists.
- Vironex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I know a person that has an iPod and no computer. He is what I like to call "retarded".
- sjbdallas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Mail me all your CDs and your iPod and i'll rip them and copy them over for half that.
- forgiste, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I don't have much of an appetite, thank you.
*glare* - zip22, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9but what happens in 2 years when there is a compression format that is transparent at 64kbps and uses less battery life? or what happens when people stop supporting ogg? then you with your ogg files will need to transcode (lose quality). someone with lossless won't lose any quality and will be able to batch convert much faster than re-ripping cds. archiving in lossless is the way to go with storage as cheap as it is.
- r121, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I was thinking this plus an iPod might make a nice gift to the grandparents, but I suppose then I'd have to get them to convert their 8-tracks and LPs into CDs first... :S
- Nebbie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"or what happens when people stop supporting ogg?"
When did we ever get ogg support?
(I admit I did have an iRiver before, props to them for supporting ogg) - codyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3For 299, you can check the sunday ads and pickup a brand new system for that price (after rebates, of course)
- dreameyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3According to RIAA, this product is illegal. *sarcasm*
- jamison18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yea epecially since it's not something youre going to use a lot. maybe once initially for your whole collection and then only every once in a while when you get something new.
- JavertHolmes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7iCan't wait till iPeople iStop putting "I"s in iFront of iEvery iProduct they iRelease in iHope of iBeing able to iCharge the "Apple Trendy Surcharge" that Apple currently iEnjoys.
- zeptobyte, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Sure you still have your CDs, but are they dusty?
- amk29j, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For all those saying that getting a mac mini is more worth it... let's not forget that you also have to buy a monitor for your mac mini. I mean, I at least think it's still worth it but people who can't afford that, well, they just can't. Why they would by an iPod and an iLoad if they can't afford a Mac Mini is beyond me. If anything, I'd rather get a Mac Mini rather than an iPod... computer first then portable music player (you can play music on your computer anyway).
- icekin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Seriously, how many people have an iPod and no access to a PC?
- osmaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Still waiting for my $20 BestBuy giftcard from the iLoad company for the survey I took 6+ months ago...
- zhulien, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2actually, the iPOD itself is a computer - so it involves 2 computers!
- pabster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have to agree. An MP3 copy of a CD is not suitable for fair-use backup purposes.
All my CD's are sent to FLAC first for archival. - TokenCanuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's all I need. My ipod full of track 1, track 2, track 3. My library is now full of useless and non-navigatable music...well worth the time and money!
- jamester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For those who just want to see the dang thing, http://www.iload.com/
- DBXMe2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OK, this is cool, but who in their right mind buys an Ipod without a computer?
- captjc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2maybe iLoad of crap
- Domdogg123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The only use I could see for something like this would be if it had like a 100-200 CD carousel player, and automated ripping so you could do large batches of CDs without having to be present.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Funny part is it originally meant internet, now the i has no meaning....
- zip22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1itunes does not add drm to tracks you rip.
- etechonline2002, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Iload......how meny jokes are there for that company.
- sjbdallas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll send them back.
Oh, and i'll rip your porn to your ipod for free. - sullyz0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Manually rip, I mean.
- wilsgrant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You missed out on an opportunity for the 'iSubject' to finally make sense! Should have said:
"iAgreed." - dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Assuming it does - How does it get album and track names? The only way I can think of it using an Internet connection, but if you don't have a computer, chances are you don't have an Internet connection, if you do, you have a computer, in which case you don't need this product..
- Ben - jezzball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol, spam.
- ucg1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd get something like this if it were $50 or less. Not for me, for my girlfriend
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Something about this product screams "scam" at me. Might be the lack of detail in the site's design / image quality, the lack of proper grammer, iffy commercials, link to investing...
Hmm... - TheMarioBrutha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1$599 + Screen + Keyboard + Mouse doesn't equal $599.
- traviscaruth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the only people who are ever going to use the iLoad are those who dont have a computer...
apple doesnt do tv commercials except for the big stuff... (ipods, well..., ipods)
the way i see it is they are never going to hear about the iLoad because they dont have internet
heck, i wouldnt have even heard about it if i didnt look on digg...
you see the problem, right? - sixty6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nobody should be paying $299 for a task so simple. 10 minutes of research should help you figure out how to rip CD's onto a computer. For that money you could probably buy a new computer itself!
- Lizlovesadam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1iAgree
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can go to your local thrift store (or from a friend/source) and get an "old" 19+" CRT for next to nothing! And yes, the mini does support vga output, if nothing else via an "expensive" converter.
- BlackAdderIII, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But hang on, I thought people who wanted to copy their DVDs/CDs onto their computer/media player were "stealing".
I suppose this will make those artists starve or something. - TechyLah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The only reason for such a device is the AUTO stack loader which isn't there.
I have about 500 CD's. No iPod yet. Waiting for the next generation.
Considering a service that will autoburn at 50cents/disk. Still cheaper than this device.
Can't anyone reduce this to ONE MINUTE per DISK?
What is technology for, anyway? -
