- nathanmock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11You can get the LEDs here:

- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9OMG Don't shine that thing in the mirror...you'll blind all of us!

- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wow. It's "bright unough to blind you!"
...Just what we all need. Sounds like the perfect gift for that young son or nephew who really likes flashlights.
What kind of battery is that. I bet a cell phone battery would make a nifty LED flashlght.
Warning: if you make one of these as a 'tactical light', it will NOT stop blind attackers.
For that, you still need good old fashioned stink bombs. ;-)
- Lil0ne, on 10/12/2007, -3/+72 .. 1 .. gone.
- Macattack15, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The title and the article are wrong, if he did indeed use a LXHL-LW6C that is a luxeon V not a luxeon III according to Lumiled
- xgravix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3know of any prebuilt conversion kits for this? I'm all for DIY but I wouldn't mind a more professional solution to replace the bulb in my maglite...
- Progranism, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Get enough of these, focus the beam, and you've got yourself a light weapon! Blinding yourself will be the worst of your worries.
- dadzilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3A site devoted to reviewing flashlights. The interwebs are amazing.
- shakeyshakey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4THE BAD MEGATITLE
(no need for Caps the story itself is already cool) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6My goodness that's slow... Site to be overrun in 5... 4.. 3..
- aroot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3luxeon III? bah! i need more light. How about a nice luxeon V?
http://www.lumileds.com/products/line.cfm?lineId=3 - jadewolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Er . . . Luxeon IV + 3 Cell Maglite . . . simple and easy. Of course this is a cool walkthrough to help understand things a little better (and it kills time for the bored amongst us with too many parts at hand)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hmmm more mirrors without pictures.
Someone please take a hammer to these so called mirrors - Arnos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2At the end of his article he mentions possibly using them for Lightsabers. Ever since I got my Force FX Vader lightsaber- I've been researching the "mods" you can do. They've been using Luxeon III's for a while.
The Force FX lightsabers have non-detachable blades, after the mod- you can swap blades out and just wear the hilt effectively having the same super-bright LED flashlight. - SinnerChrono, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this guy is really smart. i been thinking of building a LED flashlight.
- kevx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This site has some cool flashlights reviews with those luxeon led's
http://www.flashlightreviews.com/index1.html - knifeattack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LED are suppose to replace hooligan lights. They are bright, use less power and give off a cooler color
- SirDaShadow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@dcuk
check the coral cache comment posted by calif and digged :) (My first digg! yay) - VegaObscura3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Just got on the front page and going slow already. Nice one but I wish there was a video of it being used.
- joelogon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A few different companies make drop-in LED replacement "bulbs"; EverLED is good since it will work with multiple voltages (2-6 batteries), though they're about 40 bucks -- http://www.leddynamics.com/EverLED/
Lots of people who do their own LED conversions buy Maglites for the bodies and ditch the insides. - shinew, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1ya it is bright, nothing new though, bought one in china 2 month ago, cost me $6 bucks...
- babylonfive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Another mirror: http://www.duggmirror.com.nyud.net:8080/hardware/_THE_LED_MEGALIGHT/
- mainepc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Interesting project, just needs to work a bit on writing ability. He refers to the resistor (the electronic component) as "humble" two different times. That's just silly.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5You cant rite to WELL neither!
- ceralor, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6@pbaehr
Are you stupid? You can't make LED's themselves, that's where you BUY the LED's for the project. :P - tjg66, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Cool, i would make one but can't solder very good.
- fliz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3*too
- trib4lmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -13/+9Dang that's bright! Anyone know where I can buy one?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Considering that the author of this link felt it necessary to post a SCHEMATIC FOR A ***** FLASHLIGHT, then you are silly if you digg this guy down.
There are obviously some extremely stupid people in the world that we can all profit from.
Just look at his post as an opportunity. Maybe he is not intellectually capable of understanding how a flashlight works. Huh!? Did you ever think of that? I bet he has money and is ready to buy though! - pbaehr, on 10/12/2007, -16/+5Umm, the fourth word into the description is "homemade." I'm guessing you can't buy one.

What is Digg?
