- bigfkncee, on 10/10/2007, -28/+145the haters have all arrived for this story. cant you people even wait to hear what it actually has before you start bad mouthing it? oh yeah, i know. Because its from microsoft ,it sucks automatically. Right?
- TheDiggMan, on 10/10/2007, -5/+90Hopefully they'll get Wi-Fi right this time.
- whatthefu, on 10/10/2007, -10/+68Hopefully it won't suck ass. I for one would like to see some worthy competition for the iPod, if only because I think competition is a great thing.
- Skanadian, on 10/10/2007, -25/+78The Zune gets so much ***** from people. I bet all the kids flaming it in here have never seen one in person. I also bet they think Macs are the best, along with iPods.
I'm going to get Dugg down by the fanboys now. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -23/+59you say theyre a generation behind apple and you dont know the specs, yes you are a fanboy.
- mkameli, on 10/10/2007, -10/+46Totally. Windows may suck imo, but the xbox 360 is the best console out there right now. I'm withholding judgement on the zune till I gets my paws on it.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -19/+50no its not. it looks very similar to the first one so why are you saying its uglier?
- DefaultGen, on 10/10/2007, -22/+49I'm still amazed that the Zune warranted a sequel.
- lordtyros, on 10/10/2007, -5/+31You know what? You're right. I have seen the light and now realize that Apple is not in the mp3 player business to make money, but is in it to spread joy and happiness to consumers everywhere!
At $400 a pop and $0.99 per song. Idiot. - iampeanut, on 10/10/2007, -16/+37Hopefully the Zune pulls through. I've been in the market for a snazzy new mp3 player.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -14/+32Or what about being Stsve Jobs knowing you're surrounded by fawning sycophants who would gladly eat your ***** all day so long as it had an apple logo on it?
- arjung, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18unfortunately, zune 3 will require 6 years of development and all of the revolutionary features will be stripped before release...
- revenz, on 10/10/2007, -13/+30i for one love my zune, the interface is nice, sure its a little thicker than the ipod 30gb, but about the same size as the 60gb one. i love the screen and the interface, but the zune software still needs work (but microsoft usually is pretty good at updating software, or making apis, hopefully they make a nice api for the zune....)
was hoping the next zune might be a phone like the iphone though... - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+23This is just ANOTHER publicity stunt for the Zune 3. That is where they starting getting good. (or possible Zune 4)
- waterdrop, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20At least it appears they made it thinner. They better have added USB Hard Drive support or I still ain't interested.
- Mediaright, on 10/10/2007, -25/+40Oh my god!!!! I'm buying 100 for my employees!!! Brown is the new white. Squirt is the new browse/buy online. Who cares about touch crap when you can "Join the social...again!!!!!"
In all seriousness though, kill me now. - Shinhed, on 10/10/2007, -6/+20Zune 2.0 on the 16th? Better start camping in line now, becuase this is gonna be hot!!
;) - j10s, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16It looks like the Zune 1 firmware update will come along with it on Wednesday. I'm hoping for wireless Zune Marketplace
http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/01/zune-1-running- ... - Scheissen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14those are the specs you ***** moron
- bigfkncee, on 10/10/2007, -11/+24no
- lordtyros, on 10/10/2007, -5/+17What's wrong with the Zune store? And some of us happen to like the color brown!
- untzboy, on 10/10/2007, -8/+20it is kinda ugly. WAAY rounded corners (more so on the bottom) the key is blobby. I may not buy it just because of the look. I have the first one.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+17Huh? The original Zune UI was fantastic. Its a lot nicer than apple's one that hasn't really changed apart from coverflow since the 2nd gen iPod UI.
- NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13That's not saying much, considering most people don't have more than 2GB of RAM.
- nonstop87, on 10/10/2007, -8/+19And Dugg up by the people who hate the mac fan-boys.
- anaswasi, on 10/10/2007, -12/+22my 2nd generation iPod died last year and i was holding off for the new ipods. 16gb? no thanks. I'm 75% sure i'm going to get the Zune 2, provided it isn't as big a disappointment as the ipod touch. Either that, or the next thing Cnet gives over an 8.4.
- markthegoth, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13wish they would bring these out for macs.
No seriously.
I dont't like the iPod classic, would love the Touch but no way near enough storage, the zune however seems like a nice player. - Renton, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Try a generic MP3 player. Like a Sansa or Creative Zen or something. It's all the playability without the DRM, and most of the time cheaper.
- tnoy, on 10/10/2007, -8/+18The Apple logo automatically puts the iPod 2-4 generations ahead of everything, didnt you get the memo?
- SystmBetatester, on 10/10/2007, -8/+18i did get a zune as a gift, i was always looked at the first one as a publicity stunt just to get something out there, then totally blow everyone away with a next gen zune, and everyone would be like "wow thats like 10x then the first one" and then i would get it but since the first leaked shots of the "zune2" i hoped they were photoshopped because i wasnt very impressed. i guess this one has a better screen, more hard drive, better battery life, right, RIGHT?
- coheedcollapse, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11A simple registry hack opens up the Zune for hard drive use, although I do agree that it'd be much better if it were opened by default.
- j10s, on 10/10/2007, -7/+16it got on digg's front-page in a matter of minutes.
- NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8*Points to the Marianas Trench*
Microsoft's pockets are deeper than that. - warragul, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9The Zune doesn't have to be a success to serve Microsoft's purposes. The Zune exists so Microsoft can be a player in the music business. It has other products that will bring in the money: like DRM. Who else in the music business markets DRM as a product?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14No.
Apple have been real ***** about their scrollwheel thing. Anyone who even looks like they're about to use one will be sued immediately.
However, the UI on the 1st zune was really nice, even without the wheel, so I'm not really sure how adding one would be a big deal (even if apple did allow it). - jstone, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Owning an Apple computer does not make you an Apple fanboy, just like owning a Windows PC does not make you a Microsoft fanboy. And you can use a product and still hate its fanboys (I use linux, like it and recommend it, but I still despise the hard-core fanboys that will call you a 'sheeple' or idiot for using Windows.)
- quintj, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9what the heck another zune? i still cant even buy the first one here in Canada.
- d3viou5, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I dugg him up and I own both a zune and a macbook. What do you have to say now?
- MagicCake, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8You know what, I feel exactly the opposite way. Apple seems to be popularity whores while I get the feeling that the guys over at MS are passionate about what they're doing. Read their blogs. Listen to them talk at expos. They dig this stuff and they care about what they make. Of course, that's just my opinion. But either way, it's crazy to say Apple is just there to spread the love. That's ridiculous, if for no other reason than their prices.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8The only thing disappointing to me about the touch is the storage, really. If you want more than 16gb, look at a Classic or a Zune/Creative/Archos, but otherwise, it's the best MP3 player on the market.
- Tenoq, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10Maybe you should not buy one because there are better products already available? :)
- PaulGriffin, on 10/10/2007, -8/+14WATCH OUT! With talk like that you might get dugg down!!!
What's next!? You dont like democrats?! You like Apple right? RIIIIGHT!?!?!?! - coheedcollapse, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I'm hoping that these "extra codecs" that the rumors are buzzing about are actually included in the update. Hopefully something that I'll use (divx or xvid to be specific).
- SoundScape, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I'm pretty sure Mr. Gates gets to make the call as to whether he's "allowed" to own an iPod or not.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Sorry, USB hard drive support in the Zune 2 only comes in the Ultimate Edition. The other two flavors, Home Premium Zune and Home Basic Zune can't do that.
- spaceninja, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11Got a free Zune from the club.live thing. Hocked it and bought an 80 gig iPod Classic. I didn't mind the Zune at all, but I wanted to get away from Windows. Doesn't work under OS X or Linux. Not to mention even getting podcasts on it was a real pain. Now I just plug in the iPod and it transfers the new shows and takes off the old ones. If they added RSS to the client and made it a little more friendly to other OS's other than Windows maybe I would give it another go.
- gmprunner, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8"better than the metallic 'classic' which Apple has (the only one with decent storage)."
I for one would venture to call 80 and 160 GB of storage to be more than just "decent". Quite a bit more, actually. - tnoy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8I may not buy this one, because I have the first one and it still plays music perfectly fine.
- tnoy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Yeah, Apple did invent the mp3 player, right?
