- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8If you couldn't tell that it was a girl by looking at her hands, you should have been able to tell by the straw sticking out of the soda can.
- OriginalGamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Ahh so this is what Google's setup looks like!
- electronicmaji, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4wait thats my house...WTF?
- MarcTheLad, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5No wonder it's like that... A girl did it. *snort*
- analogue40, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2godaddy's server room?
- SavannahLion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@torbar
Dude, think about it. How many chicks do you think are willing to have a server (servers?) in the bedroom... and work on a keyless keyboard... and a laptop that looks like it went through a nuclear holocaust.....
Just give me her phone number, I'll tell you all how good she looks. ;) - Darrellh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Dang! Don't let the cat in there. *Zap* !!! Meow !!! :)
- cjurczak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn I would love to have all that stuff, but I think I might invest in a few cheap cases...wonder what he is doing with all of it...
- DownloadThis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i thought everyone's seen this already? those are pics from godaddy.com's server room. how do you think they can afford to offer hosting at such a good price?
- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What's with the whores in the footer?
- andyatkinson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no wonder my web hosting is so cheap!
- s1lentslayer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Here's a picture a few minutes later:
http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/thumb/0/02/250px-Nuclear_fireball.jpg - Nikore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At Last!! A computer able to run Windows Vista!
- rhnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thats actually not that dangerous....
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like it. Cases are for n00bs. What's so dangerous about it?
- isewise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Some how this makes me believe that whoever is responsible for this "server", has poor hygiene.. : /
- thekurst, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WOW, that's awesome, he'll probably go down in electrically induced fiery way... but way cool
- michaelzhao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Safe or not.... this man is hardcore...
- JorgeGT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It just need a couple of monitors running green code, a medical chair with a neck needle and to close all windows and it will be capable of connect to the ***** MATRIX !!!
- 16x9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You know that "tiered" plan that AT&T and Verizon are pushing, where they want people to pay more for reliable and fast throughput? Well these are the servers that will be used if you don't pay 'em what they expect.
- Brooks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2*****
that looks like a bed in the corner. i would sooner spend a night in a morgue drawer than in that place. - jguy584, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I bet he doesnet need to pay for home heating, im sure all those comps keep his house nice an toasty
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that would work until the cat knocks over that stack of power supplies, smashing their respective boards... Yes those are women's hands in the last shot, but that doesn't mean a girl did this... after all, how the hell would she have taken a picture of BOTH her hands typing?
- TellarHK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not as dangerous as most people would think it is, but oh my god, this guy/gal/android/genderlessthing must go through motherboards like f'in crazy. I think the hard drives might have been in the cases scattered around, but good lords. I just can't imagine being that SLOPPY with things, particularly the laptop keyboard. Where was this place, in that Mexican drug tunnel?
has lots of machines
\has more than one server box
\has a computer room 10-20 degrees hotter than the rest of the house
\\has some goddamn taste and common-sense in wiring - mikehilb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Are those the Digg servers???
j/k Kevin - swakdaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks fake to me. Look at the proportion of some of those monitor cables and the fake shadow behind them. They are HUGE compared to what they should be at the camera's distance (and the other objects around them). Clever Photoshop....but very cool! :)
- PDelahanty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"btw: i'm a girl. I've been running exclusively linux for about 5 years now. I run a website that gets 24,000,000 hits a month, and I'm the sysadmin and owner of my own web hosting company. I'm a programmer. Tech girls don't get french manicures."
Marry me. :) - brickbat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No way he could be insured with that setup. That would be negligence.
- BobbyOnions, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can see it's the UK from the plug hanging on the third photo.
Girl could be his girlfriend, more likely his hostage - who took the photo?
Plus, he has diagonal-stripe curtains - BLOKE! - towca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0THAT is the most BEAUTIFUL thing I've EVER seen!
- slipaway172, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what is his power bill? probably close to my schools power bill per month. it is around $75,000. i hope a computer generates a hardware fault and catches fire when he is not home. THAT IS EXTERMELY unsafe
- aywwts4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thats really not that bad, I tried to do a simmilar server rack out of shelving units and found the plastic to be cost prohibitive and hard to work with, wood is by far the best way to go on the cheap, with how easy it is to build with... And to the people who said "Get some cases they are only 20 bucks" God you really have never managed more than ten computers have you? Do you know what a bitch it is to spend 90% of your time fixing hardware problems just Getting to the point where you can see the offending unit? And those cheap cases, hard to enter, cramped inside, lots of raw sharp metal edges, Hell, I just liberated one that required you to Remove the motherboard, disconect the hard drives, and disconect every cable to the motherboard, in order to access the ram, repeat many times until you determine which ram stick/port is wonky, (in this case, it was a pair of sticks that went bad) and you will see why cases are not convenient.
While It would be great to professionaly rack mount everything, if your computers cost less than the rack mount... it really doesnt pay does it?
I admit they could have done it neater... but its not a bad setup really. - theonlybigboss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol thats just to great,
- JTMON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0jesus christ, if that's what your room looks like I suggest you go clean your ass.
- firehydra2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty bad if there is no air conditioner....
- Peterix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool!
Not even I have such a mess in my dark server place... :-D - fkuall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0last picture MUST be photoshopped
- sgtkillmore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0might be easier to get at stuff but man just walking up to the thing you make one wrong move and...
- digifad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that is horrid. all that money spent and no protection. ugh!
- Hozezero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you notice the color of the walls, not all in the same room
- Sibertank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cmon guys lets think here, Its probly just the guys girlfreind and he took the picture.
Check out all the VGA cabels ruing into the switcher lol. - Yoda716, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dude break down and buy some freaking cases man. From the looks of things I think you can affoard it.
- kindrobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All that paper and wood. Honestly, I read the headline and thought... someone has it out for me... they've posted pics of my bedroom...
But then my eyes were amazed at the sight of someone with not only worse cleaning skills than mine, but I would assume little respect for the power of FIRE and a trust fund to pay for the electricity bill. - beatlenuttt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01............................
2..................................This is Kevin Rose's Apartment.
Digg has grown fast. - ntrsfrml, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They look FINE to me, atleast thats how most of the PRO's run their open SETI and Folding@Home rigs.
ps: except for that last broken keyboard pic. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool stuff. I like dangerous computers. I also like the scantily clothed women at the bottom too.
- notmatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This guy is a SETI/F@H user. I'm not sure he still has that many machines but he is a part of the Overclockers UK team. www.overclockers.co.uk and look on the forums there. He also did some modding iirc hence the keyboard in bits and the like. That setup is somewhere in the UK.
I've no idea how he afforded it/put up with it either. - sdove, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like the shelves.
