- epall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's really easy to get used to the Vertical Mouse and it's soo much more comfortable. The extra buttons + exposé are a great plus.
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They work damn good....also this mouse has been for a year already. (I have the orginal Vertical Mouse and it works great.)
- Double-Z, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seen it before.
Lefty version?
I hate the way all the best mice are only for right-handed people. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1" our bones leaving us paralyzed for life and unable to move a mouse ever again..
In extreme cases of carpal tunnel, that is indeed the case.
So really, some of you need to just shut up (rain9441).

What are the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome?
Decreased grip strength may make it difficult to form a fist, grasp small objects, or perform other manual tasks. In chronic and/or untreated cases, the muscles at the base of the thumb may waste away. Some people are unable to tell between hot and cold by touch. - aforonda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The 3M joystick mouse has saved me (highly recommended), I get gnarly pain when i use a traditional mouse. I don't know how you guys use "normal" mouses anymore. These uprights could be very cool too.
- psilvestri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FRICK'IN SWEET!!!! Who wants to bet that Apple will soon be the first to 'invent' (to the masses) this type of mouse?
BTW - anyone notice if they had a version for us south-paws? - Josephtech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This ia a horriable idea, it looks uncomfortable and who wants toget used to a verticle mouse when they've been using a noemal mouse for so many years. Invent something more useful i say!
- mikae1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Actually, that's exactly how I grip a standard mouse the times I use one (ie. when sitting at another persons computer). When I'm at my home computer or at work I use a Wacom board, all the time.
- TheReport, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who needs a mouse when touch screen is gonna be the wave of the future
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about a vertical keyboard?!?! Any takers? Just take a split keyboard and prop it up in a triangle type shape.
- sniper668, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"This is the worst idea I have ever seen."
Even worse than the one that called for building a bigger and even more powerful Death Star? - Mediatwin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They may look strange but they're far more comfortable to use than a standard mouse and easier to get on with than you might think. You can get them from http://www.keytools.com/mice/evoluent.asp
- OsakaWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sometimes a mouse is just a mouse. However, could you use this without thinking about Freud?
- MyTwo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have one of these at work that I got for wrist pain. I've tried other gimmicks but this really work.s I'm 36 and a CPA and I work on computers 12+ hours per day and have since I was 12. It is finally catching up with my wrists. It took about two days to be comfortable with it now I switch back and forth (vertical at work traditional at home) without giving it a thought. The best part is no more wrist pain. Don't hesitate to give it a try.

So Shut the f... up. - Sumyunguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am sure the transition would be similar to switching to a trackball. I use a trackball at home and I feel no strain on my arm, but initially my thumb was strained, but now it is used to it.
- michaelphipps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So would that be "top click" and "bottom click" rather than "left click" and "right click"??
Ok that was lame. - SpaceNinjaDino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have three of these, and I highly recommend them. I have ideas for improvement, but these saved me from carpal tunnel! Traditional mice almost killed my wrist.
- bnolsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've used one of the version 1's at work now for about 3 years.
It's definitely a very natural feel.
Problem is I have very large hands and I end up grabbing the base of the mouse with my thumb instead of the indentation in the top.
I haven't tried the mouse with gaming yet so I can't comment on it's performance.
The buttons remap nicely using evdev. - nvzblity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh gosh, the vertical keyboard (http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1558,1034140,00.asp from earlier post by colebarnes) looks horrible...not to mention the pain it would take to reach the keys in the middle.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've got this mouse and I'm totally fine with it: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2142,CONTENTID=10121
- MrKite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's dumb. The side of your hand will always get dirty from rubbing against the desk, and your clicking action is not ergonomic because you can no longer apply pressure based on the support of the desktop, instead you have to squeeze it by using your thumb.
Next, they'll be announcing a vertical keyboard. - framitz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This piece of crap has been around for at least 3 YEARS. I was given one to try, tried it for 30 minutes and gave it back to the vendor. Most unconfortable and non-intuitive mouse EVER.
- penguindude15, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://us.kensington.com/html/1436.html
Trackballs are the best. These are some of the best. Although, this one is good:

http://digg.com/hardware/FINALLY_The_coolest_mouse...that_is_actually_useful_ - zenghost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great link seandfeeney
id like to try that - Disease, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Your arm is never completely 90 degrees turned like in the picture. If you're like me your elbows are always resting on something whether it's the arm rests or the desk making your arm in a more natural position.
- rhino_rampant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That seriously looks really comfortable! Where can I get one!?
Its certainly a better idea than that matrix keyboard... - bobreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I registered with digg just to comment on this product. I have used one at home and another at work for several months. They have completely eliminated the ear to fingertip pain that had plagued my mouse arm for years. I saw a dramatic improvement the first day. It does take a few hours to get used to. It's difficult to lift the mouse to re-position it - I quickly learned to rock it to the side (away from the thumb) to move the mouse without moving the cursor.
If you have arm pain from extended mouse use, this product is definitely worth a try. It cost less than my collection of wrist braces (now retired.) - spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OMG this is horrible :O
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Someone should invent a mouse that can be switched to multiple positions. That way, when one position gets tiresome, you can turn it on it's axis and be comfortable. This would eliminate, or at least delay, repetative stress disorders. Just an idea.
- alpinemobile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0mighty ghey mouse.....
- samdu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It really is a much more natural position for your wrist. Try putting your hand on your mouse and then rotating it back to its natural position (the position you would be using with a vertical mouse). You can feel the muscles in your arm relax (even if you have your entire arm on the desk, which I do). I don't have a vertical mouse (yet), but I've considered getting one after trying that the first time.
Oh, and trackballs blow for graphics. Mouse in a pinch, but graphics tablet is the way to go on that. I'm much more precise with a mouse than with a trackball for fine detailed graphics work. Regular day-to-day computing is fine with a trackball, but that's about it. - jervana, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0from the review its pretty comfy, just like any other mouse and more ergonomic. doesn't have to be pretty.
digg. - trnelson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My thumb would cramp up after using this thing for a while. I have no problem with the way mice are now, and honestly can't even think of something that would be more comfortable. I guess that could be just from my being used to my current mouse. Though, even thinking about it with my left hand which never touches a mouse, the idea just seems uncomfortable - both hands tend to lay flat more than on their sides. Would be interesting to try though.
Will digg it, because it's different. - DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I don't think you can beat the MX1000 (or the similar G5 and G7). Perfectly ergonomic and does not cramp my hands at all.
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This actually works because with a normal mouse, our arms are twisted 90 degrees for a long time, and with this, they're at the correct rotation.
- shiftless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks very uncomfortable. Twisting your wrist to the side like that can not be good at all.
- atariby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think its a great idea, when i turn my hand on its side it fells more comfortable, but im a gamer, and you cant do much better than a G5. Period.
- UnKnownViper27, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Old, dumb, and who cares if your bones arent in a more natural position. What's next? a vertical keyboard?
- turbopro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0keep your caropotunnel disease, I love my vertical mouse
- Malik112099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wonder how this will be for gaming?
- anonymous2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0While I can't speak for this version I own the original, and it’s fantastic. At home I use a regular mouse, but when I’m stuck at my desk all day this is a life saver. My wrist used to ache after each day, so much that I guessed I’d probably do damage if I ignored it over the years. Yes it’s weird looking, however it’s extremely comfortable, and it only took me 5 minutes to get the hang of it. Also it’s no problem going back and forth between this and a regular mouse. I tried trackballs, but I couldn’t seem to get the hang of them. Also Evoluent customer service is great, they didn’t hesitate to help me with my questions. That chrome version is some ugly though.
No it’s not a gaming mouse, but who cares, if you want to game, keep the Logitech plugged in too USB makes that easy. The reason I'm giving these such a plug is because I want them to stay in business long enough to make a cordless version :) - fastfood15, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0these have been around forever
- shade73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've used this mouse quite a bit actually (the First version).
GAMING: It's actualy GREAT for it, if you don't hold it lightly. If you hold it lightly you'll notice you'll keep pulling your shots to the left (b/c your index hits and your thumb isn't there to keep it from moving left. However, if you hold it firmly while playing it feels very natural aiming (think how you hold a gun).
The reason I switched to this one was for the 4 buttons. I grew up gaming on a logitech 3 button mouseman and used the middle for forward, left for strafe left, and right for stafe right. Well now I finally found a mouse that gives me those three buttons PLUS my weapons select all on one hand.
Just my 2c - Maverick83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"So a guy turns something and expects it to sell? The thing looks more like a broken primitive joystick than a mouse. Next we'll see keyboards that are sideways too, it'll be like playing a harp."
Why not turn everything on it's side? Flip the monitor and lay on your side to operate! Great for everyone who has a broken ass! - patmfitz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This thing looks like you have to move your whole arm to move the mouse - how does it do with fine control? With a normal mouse I can use just my fingers to move the mouse with great precision.
- elektrobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you get one, I would seriously get the one that I posted pictures of above. it is by far the best. the built in usb flash drive feature is the bomb.
- medarby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd like to get it for work, where I'm on the computer for 9+ hours and not playing games. Then when I go home and fire up the game machine for 3+ hours, I'll use my regular mouse.
- Maverick83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Trackballs rule everything. I laugh at all who move their entire mouse.
- ninjathis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't think I could play FPS as good..
I'm happy with my 518 -
