"Gah, Tom's Hardware is about as trustworthy a source for reliable information as the Whitehouse. I guess you can't really mess up with BIOS settings but most of their stuff is total *****"
I've always thought their information was pretty accurate, and i love their case reviews. - mtmitch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1dupe. I posted the same thing this morning.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0About frikin time. One thing I HATE about my mobos is the features that are either very poorly described, or (often) completely ignored in the documentation. "WTF does this do" you wonder, as you then break your configuration, and have to reset the BIOS jumper and start again.
- Bitgod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Tom's went downhill a while ago. I've seen so crummy reviews on their site. The nice thing is that I see some reviews for stuff I don't see elsewhere, but I'd never base a purchase on a review from Tom's. Like a previous person said, the rojakpot guide is the way to go, they've been the BIOS handbook for a while.
- slick_rick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How does it compare to this guide? http://www.rojakpot.com/freebog.aspx
- alphamerik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice article but not for the newbs... these types of changes can make your computer unusable without resetting the bios and playing around with voltage levels may even damage cheap hardware.
- CanuckPlumber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great..Lets give me something to REALLY screw my computer up....Mwahahahaa...
Dugg - rc_collins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they missed a couple things, spread spectrum and cih 4way protect being 2 things
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0plugitin, you can just print each page out of the guide that slick_rick posted. But since they have a book on it (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0131455362/qid=1134677686/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-4132388-5655960?v=glance&s=books&n=507846), I just saved myself time and money and bought it. Great reference.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's a copy of this guide - http://www.rojakpot.com/freebog.aspx
- plugitin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Would there happen to be a printable version of this anywhere?
Or mabye a printable version of the site posted by slick_rick at the very top?
I like this article, might be useful for my dad who just upgraded his new computer, or for me because I need to get some more out of my cheap parts :) (don't have almost unlimted funds like my dad) - nailz420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Make Windows XP run faster through BIOS settings" - does XP stand for any personal computer running any OS now?
- R-Type, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Gah, Tom's Hardware is about as trustworthy a source for reliable information as the Whitehouse. I guess you can't really mess up with BIOS settings but most of their stuff is total *****
