- convergent, on 12/16/2007, -2/+43Why are you getting dugg up and the comment above dugg down when it says basically the same thing? I will never get digg...
- paulface12, on 12/16/2007, -9/+45And then God said... "Let they're be supercomputering... and it was so."
- hazard99, on 12/16/2007, -0/+27Eventually that computer will fit in our pockets...
- vortex22222, on 12/16/2007, -2/+29Those have to be the best organized wires I've ever seen.
They look like link sausages. - RockStrongo1, on 12/16/2007, -0/+20That is a very neat cabling job.. note all of the labels if you look closely.
- blackrage, on 12/16/2007, -13/+32Cause there has never been a better use for a church....EVER!!!

- Shuk, on 12/16/2007, -1/+15Please give this computer to Wordpress.
- manova, on 12/16/2007, -6/+19So when digg says this has been submitted before (twice with the exact same title, even the exact same page, and another time with over a thousand diggs), you just ignore it?
- _loopy_, on 12/16/2007, -2/+14Sorry, but when I hear Beautiful and Supercomputer the first name that comes to mind is Cray. A server made to be furniture or a waterfall cooling tower. Then we're talking beautiful.

http://www.spikynorman.dsl.pipex.com/CrayWWWStuff/ ... - platypibri, on 12/16/2007, -7/+19Can we maybe talk about the computer and spare the lame anti-church hits.
I guess in the old slashdot heyday we would say "Imagine a Beowulf cluster of these". - bunkka, on 12/16/2007, -2/+14glorious
- RossDuprey, on 12/16/2007, -0/+12Pure sex. I would have loved to wire that baby up. Favorite.

- toastjam, on 12/16/2007, -3/+12c'mon, don't you see the firetruck red pipes with white bands on them? They bear a striking resemblance to popular depictions of santa claus
- Superdemon, on 12/16/2007, -0/+9The wiring alone is a thing of beauty.
- EarlOfLade, on 12/16/2007, -1/+10"Let they are be..." What the *****?

- mal1964, on 12/16/2007, -0/+7BZZZZZZZZZZT! Oooh, I'm sorry. The answer we were looking for is MareNostrum
- TheDominion, on 12/16/2007, -3/+9I recently was studying at the university where this is located. I actually have a photo I would like to share: http://git.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=32488697&l=3 The school had been gifted land by the city government, and the church was on that land, and a protected building. The University wasn't using it for anything at the time, and when they decided they were going to build a supercomputer they would either have to build a new building or use an existing one. So due to monetary reasons they used the church. And as far as how cold it is, outside the chamber is a little bit warmer then room temperature, and inside is as cool as any server room I have walked through before. So not that cold really.
- plash, on 12/16/2007, -0/+6I remember that video. its part of the G5 marketing material; side by side Virgina Techs clusters falls behind in performance in comparison
- deuceswilde, on 12/16/2007, -0/+6Apparently you guys missed the shameless self promotion section at the bottom... If you were a Sun server you wouldn't have.
- iticu, on 12/16/2007, -0/+6Buried for stating the obvious about him stating the obvious.
(I can do it too, with Kandoo!) - Grevian, on 12/16/2007, -0/+6Maybe, But I'd like to think that instead of wasting CPU power like that, it's more likely we'll have medium power mobile devices that tap into extreme resources like this remotely, sharing and distributing CPU power to be more efficient,
- contradictator, on 12/16/2007, -3/+9Behold, the Church of Brainiac.
- plash, on 12/16/2007, -0/+6MacPro.. lame! are you gonna get your iphone and ipod out and play with the itunes so you can get an ilife.. dude, this cluster is millions of times more impressive then your macpro. go make a movie or edit some photos pixel pusher
