- AmishRefugee, on 10/12/2007, -13/+59Apple style? Give me a freaking break. It's white, that makes it apple? This is some pretty bad click whoring to the Apple crowd. There are two main colors LCDs come in these days... black and white. This, being the latter, is obviously a take at the mac crowd. Please...
it's especially nice since macs don't come with monitors. oh wait...... - AmishRefugee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Strange that any comment saying anything negative about this monitor gets instantly buried. Oh wait, that's not surprising at all.
@Starseed: Check out this new white paperclip. It is designed and built for your Apple and goes very well with your Apple and looks very nice around other Apple products like an Apple Keyboard. Why, they're the same exact color and have the same round styling. If I just convinced you to buy this white paperclip and that it's a perfect Apple product, go jump off of a bridge for the sake of humanity. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11http://www.duggmirror.com
- wolphcry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Could they put any more ads on a single page?
- Trekkie711, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17it looks nothing like apple, it is just white
- Kale, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Apple monitors are silver. The only computers white are the MacBook, the iMac, and the Mini, everything else is silver.
- QueenOfSwords, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10It's untrue that there aren't other white monitors... LG make a nice one.
- Nysul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The problem is that dark colors are generally better for monitors and televisions. Go to an electronics shop and look at all the televisions. You'll notice that the ones with dark borders the emphasis is on the screen, while the ones with white borders tend to be distracting, as it seems emphasis is placed on the border.
I don't really notice the border on my tv (which is gray) but the silver border on my monitor is hard to ignore. - mattyice11, on 10/12/2007, -9/+16Agreed. Buried as inaccurate.
- beejay54, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I own this monitor (bought it a few months ago) to pair with my iMac. I looks nice, but I have to admit its not as nice. I've tried colour correcting it many times but it still shifts colours like mad. I wouldn't recommend this one for anyone who is crazy about colour accuracy, ie. graphic, web, and multimedia designers.
- animenick65, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I have this monitor myself and it is beautiful to look at but basically sucks at gaming or watching movies. Ghosting is horrible!!! The included software for adjusting and rotating picture is equally as bad. Constantly fails on multiple machines.
- 0siris, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Apple should copyright the color white. Anyone who uses it is obviously an apple copycat.
They should also copyright gradients, MP3 players...
And hey, UPS copyrighted brown (look it up). - corneliousjd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4looks like an average LCD monitor to me. nothing apple-esque about it.
- sxtxixtxcxh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@corneliousjd: it would seem digg just got gamed.
- MioTheGreat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Sorry to bring in something pretty detached in (especially to an apple-esque topic), but it's another great example of what you're talking about.
In the pre-RC2 builds of Vista, when you maximized, the top title bar and bottom taskbar turned black for the same reason. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://images.google.com/images?q=Samsung%20SyncMaster%20960BF
- rickcarson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Kale.
And that would be why the description specifically mentions the Mac mini...
I had a look at it, and it doesn't even look like it is the right white for a match. But not having seen the two next to each other, it is hard to say for sure.
What I found amazing about it was how much cheaper it is on newegg. How on earth do they sell it for almost half the price of the others??? Did it recently get a price drop, and guys like Amazon just haven't updated their price list yet? - wario, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Weird that this review and post comes now. I bought this monitor, and (using it now) a year ago. White does not belong to apple, But this monitor is amazing.
- qualish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've had this monitor for about a year now. This review came a tad late in the game. I just liked that it would rotate so I could view Word docs / Webpages more naturally. It never struck me as an Apple styled monitor...
- apolloae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What? Apple doesn't have to copyright white, white is just a subdivision of the company; everything white should be regarded as Apple's!
/sarcasm - mabhatter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Westinghouse made a nice white "apple styled" 17" wide screen for the mac mini... the LCM-17w7 it's really a nice monitor... I like it better than other LCDs I work with, but not as nice as a "real" apple monitor. (it doesn't COST the same either!) Of course they only sold it thru Best Buy and that's the wrong place to sell to the Apple crowd... but you can find it cheap for clearance online. Samsung has an LCD TV that almost exactly matches it's styling.... the monitor was just a little a head of it's time.
- code_of_life, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm gonna wait for LCDs to support 1600x1200 native....
- MioTheGreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No. I'm talking about the color black specifically. They changed it to follow the Aero glass color theme more closely by the final build.
- thomashallock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think the aluminum 193P one fits in better with the current hardware:
http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/24-001-156-09.JPG - socalrob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That sucks. I bought a samsung LCD recently, the 940MW which is a monitor/tv and it's working fine for me. The monitor itself has color almost on par with my crt, when its in tv mode it seems a bit washed out and fuzzy, even when its through AV cables to my xbox. Samsung though in my oppinion makes great LCD's.
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1not even widescreen
- thomashallock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone notice the retail prices at the bottom of the article:
Newegg.com: $279.99 (http://tinyurl.com/wr63k)
Circuit City: $404.99
Buy.com: $499.37
Amazon: $504.99
Office Depot: $539.95 (http://tinyurl.com/y2fnon)
Yes, OfficeDepot wants $260 more than Newegg.com. CRAZY! - Mugsleymug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Mio
it still does that in RC2. The guys at the Shell blog said it was so it didnt have to draw the wallpaper when you aren't interested in seeing it, nothing to do with distraction. - slut, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3apple owns the color white
- dubled, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ugh yuck. Ad littered pages where the hell is the article.
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1firefox > adblock pro
I would have never known there were ads on that website if it wasnt for you two bumbling fools - jphmedia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Samsung does NOT support Macs in any LCD product, it appears.
I bought a Syncmaster 904b, which began 'blinking' on and off shortly after I connected it to my G5 DVI port. Checking the net, I found many other 904b users experiencing the same problem, mostly on Windows PC's. The problem does not appear on the VGA port, but why would one use a VGA port on a DVI-equipped display?
Thinking a fix may be in the works, I called Samsung tech support and was told 'We do not support Macintosh computers on ANY of our monitor products' End of story. Returned it to CompUSA for a full refund.
A shame, really. It was a fairly nice display, at a good price.
Buyer beware - if you use a Mac, do NOT buy a Samsung monitor. - overdrive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This is an old model from Samsung. It's on clearance at FutureShop in Canada already. Definitely nothing worth digging...
- shyguy01, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I'm sure I read somewhere that Google says you shouldn't put any more than 3 of their ad blocks on one page.
Why do I count 4? - Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -11/+9yea, i bought a white monitor a few weeks ago and it wouldn't work with my PC. i guess they're all made for apple [/sarcasm]
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4I think the submitter meant that this monitor was probably designed with the Apple crowd in mind to try and siphon some of the Mac monitor sales not that it won't work with a PC!
- duckedtapedemon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Apple does black now though too.
And just think of how many colors the imacs came in. - Starseed, on 10/12/2007, -19/+11Did you even read the article? They were commenting on the color and how it's reminiscent of Apple since there aren't any other white ones. They referenced Apple a bunch of times in the introduction. Wait... Apple doesn't come with a monitor? Then what is an iMac? What are you looking at the whole time?
Read the article before commenting. - motivr, on 10/12/2007, -25/+10lol. Apple sucks anyways.
