- NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22FYI, they expect 1000-qubits by 2009 (according to Geordie Rose of D-Wave). This one is only designed to be a demonstration, not powerful enough for practical quantum tasks (simulating the universe and so on :)
To put that into perspective,
16 qubits = 64,000 simultaneous calculations

1000 qubit (probably 1024) = 2^1000 = 10^301 (2^1024 = 10^308) - AReallyGoodName, on 10/12/2007, -0/+764,000 calculations is easily doable on a modern CPU in a very short amount of time, hence you can accuratly simulate a 16qubit quantum computer.
Which makes me question whether they really do have a quantum chip (using some process nobody else knows about) or whether they are faking quantum calculations on a regular old FPGA or microprocessor in order to get investors in. - jhshukla, on 10/12/2007, -1/+864Ki = 65536.
