- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20nvidia consistantly has the best drivers! WTF are you talking about? also their linux drivers are friggen rad, they deffinetly cator twords openGL and *nix. just try comparing the nvidia driver to the fglrx ati one.
- tardmongerster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I assume these support DX10?
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6With new 7950GT's selling for that? 'fraid not.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Me me me me me me!!!!
On the condition you buy my 6600gt for $200...
Deal? - Splizxer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@HonoredMule
We're not talking about OpenGL here, it's an MS product, people will buy it. - Kuipo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That's one of my favorite misspellings ever. That aside, nVidia drivers have been good for a long time. You're referring to their recent drivers as sucking.. however they still lead the market in quality. I'm sure they are spending a lot of time dealing with microsoft's bs of not only making them try to code drivers for dx10 but also for vista. Both of which have horrible documentation since they are both in heavy development, yet they will need to have something for drivers when vista goes live... documentation or not.
Chill out and wait a few months. It won't kill you. - Twisty, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Man I built my new rig and now I have to get a new card to run DX10, GG Technology.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm selling my 6600GT (yes that's right.. a Fricken' GT yall). $300 to the first responder. Get it while its hot. It won't last forever. This is your chance of a lifetime.
Frig. - Mand0lesi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2lol
how about my 6800GT. $450 ? - goat77, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Just amazing. My next PC will surely be built around G80/DX10.
And to the people who are asking if it's a DX10 card:
YES, IT FULLY SUPPORTS DX10. - dw2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Source?
- rufo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DirectX 10 looks interesting, but I'm waiting to see what happens with performance and Vista. Meanwhile, I'm happy with my SLIed "sold off the back of a white van" 7900GSes.
- HonoredMule, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not a word on power consumption I see. I can only care about graphics performance above other concerns to a point...and we've passed it.
- bluemist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1256 + 128bit memory interface... looks like they're planning for a physics co-processor or something aside from churning out graphics.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Good luck with Crysis!
Mwahahahahahahaha. - citrusfizz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i picked upa 7900gs for 150 from woots (pilfered) deal one day
i highly doubt that anyone would pay anywhere close to 80$ for your 6600gt - manicdvln, on 10/12/2007, -8/+8Can't wait to spend 1000$ on a video card to play sims!!
- ZZero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wonder if it will consumer less Watts, they should at least make these things more efficient than power hungry!!
- SuperFarStucker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well if those specifications are true it suffices to say this is absolutely lightyears ahead of the current generation. Having 2 memory busses is certainly an interesting feature. I highly doubt any production card will sport water cooling. It is expensive and not fault tolerant, not to mention small closed loops provide lower performance than air configurations. It looks like nVidia is mustering some engineering muscle either way.
- Splizxer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2YUO FAIL!
- goffy59, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Ill be able to play every game out, and im just gonna spend 150 bucks on a geforce 6800XT XXX edition (420mhz core/1050mhz memory).
8pixel pipelines but with 2 video cards it wont be a problem. Wasting 500 dollars on a video card is pointless. Its better to stay in the above average range (for example. a 6800 (default), is average, my XXX edition makes it above average). Anyway, I dont have all these problems with drivers like so many people claim, but I just play games and work on 3DMax. - twistadias, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0The article says Unfied Architecture which is the basis for directx 10
- Computer_Kid, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1and I was just getting ready to buy a 7000 series :-(
- Lane, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1its all greek to me......
- themulf, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3anyone want to buy a geforce 7900 gt for 300$ :) ?
- waterdrop, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2I sure hope so.
- waterdrop, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Looks pretty good Nvidia. A little on the expensive side though. Hopefully it supports Direct3D10. I have heard it does.
- HonoredMule, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Don't worry about it Twisty, DX10 is worthless cause it's for vista only. No game developer in his right mind will use it for a long time for that reason alone. Too many people are smart enough NOT to buy vista no matter what the "industry" does.
On a more positive note, we've not come close to peaking on what can be accomplished on DX9, so no one needs anything new for a while anyway. - brian118, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1OLLLDDDD
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3yea cuz all that exorcist in this world is OpenGL and *nix. If you think the recent nvidia drivers (9x series) are good you are on crack. Yea they are better then ATi but better crap is still crap. The drivers for the dual GPU cards and SLI are unreliable and buggy and if yer using them yer not getting anything near the performance you paid for cuz of all the bugs. It's just a fact. Nvidia and ATi are both in a driver rut right now.
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -32/+2...and some bad drivers to make it all worthless
