- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+253There's nothing like the smell of cheap burning batteries from China in the morning.
- Rikushix, on 10/12/2007, -22/+129"No..these are not from a Chinese company, they are from Sony"
Are you seriously implying that unlike cheap Chinese companies, Sony sells quality goods? Are you out of your mind? Have you forgotten about the Dell battery recall? - EmileVictor, on 10/12/2007, -9/+100Difference...?
- saggygrandma, on 10/12/2007, -3/+60Ive got this ***** mouse, after about 30% battery is left its starts blinking a light constantly.. "HEY I'M RUNNING OUT OF ENERGY, HEY I'M RUNNING OUT OF ENERGY, HEY I'M RUNNING OUT OF ENERGY" no ***** your running out of energy, its cause your flashing a ***** light constantly....
- CatsAreGods, on 10/12/2007, -2/+57Consider yourself lucky you could come back to your house...
- zlintux, on 10/12/2007, -5/+59yeah... oh no, my mouse just melted from cheap batteries so I can't use my keyboard now!
- T3rry, on 10/12/2007, -4/+57These are the ones that came with the mouse, i used them for probably 2 years before they did this.
- VhaidraU, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44Hey where were all the ads and pop-ups on that site? ;) Not a very well prepared Digg submission! :p
- weirdness, on 10/12/2007, -5/+48Syler? It's a trick. Get an axe.
- IceBurrg, on 10/12/2007, -4/+44#$^@!!! Just when the chat room was getting hot!
- dtd00d, on 10/12/2007, -7/+43Dugg for picture quality.
- AQUaDeX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34"I own several Logitech products, 2x mxduo, mx1000, 3 wireless pc gamepads, wireless headset for my xbox, bluetooth headset... this experience really is making me reconsider these other purchases."
too bad you already bought them, ha! ha! - Apoc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28Is it possible something's wrong with the charger, that it overflowed the batteries causing a short?
And on a side note, that's quite possibly the most digg-optimized site I've ever seen. No fancy graphics or CSS layouts, good info, straight and to the point. And the adsense links on the top and bottom don't hurt either.
Dugg. - natjo1986, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27looking for pr0n with the tab button it's difficult but doable
- tw0k1ngs, on 10/12/2007, -10/+34Very common in non-rechargable batteries. Not saying he put them in, perhaps they shipped with non-rechargables.
- l337fanboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Get ready for the first large-scale 'Mouse Battery Recall'.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25"No..these are not from a Chinese company, they are from Sony"
Yes, I'm really sure Sony makes their batteries in Japan. That's probably where they made their laptop batteries as well, right. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21He even hosted the images on HugeUploads, which provides unlimited bandwidth.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24Looks like maybe the batteries caused it?
- foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20"that's very easy to do."
yes, it is. why, just look at me! :P - seventoes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20apparently (after look at source) there were google ads though!
adblock ftw! - sahaskatta, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23***** that is the mouse i am using right now. no joke
- Protoss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16*your*

- foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14"Why do you have a lowercase T in your username but an uppercase T in the username of the submitter?"
that's very easy to do. - ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Conclusion: Don't go to work.
- seventoes, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13"Well theres problem right there."
- mo245, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10one more reason to use a wired mouse
- insomuchas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Terrorists are now buying up logitech rechargeable mice and they will plant them all over Boston. It's only a matter of time til the mice or the Boston police blow the whole city up.
- Torx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7you actually look for dicks on melted products?
- whatsoncemore, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I used to have a wireless mouse similar to this. One day i was using it and this insanely loud pop came from it. it was so loud my ears rang for a little bit. the batteries inside exploded.
I called Logitech and gave them my serial number and they sent me a replacement without any questions... a little fishy if you ask me...
The mouse still worked though. So when i got the new one, i gave that one to my friend who just got a new computer, hah. - Indecision, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Their products are great, for about a year."
I've had my MX700 mouse for about two years without a single problem. I've had a Logitech wireless PS2 controller for about 5 years, still works great. The Logitech USB headset that came with SOCOM still works, too, after several years. My roommate has a wireless Logitech keyboard that he's been using for at least 5 years, that still works great too. - Thorlord, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7i was about to make a joke implying that they only did that because they were sony batteries...
apparently they really were sony batteries.
hrm. - benitojuarez, on 10/12/2007, -9/+15Theres a reason they tell you not to use non rechargable batteries in the charger.
- TokenUser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Same thing happened to me. Same model mouse (Logitech MX700). 2.5 years of using the damn thing, and it just dies on me. Turn it over, and my battery bay door cover looks like a "shrinky dink", and doesn't fit in the slot anymore, and the plastic label is melted off the batteries.
For those that are trying to be funny, this is a mouse that has the receiver double as a charger for the rechargeable batteries that come pre-installed in the mouse. It was the most comfortable mouse I'd ever owned.
@whatsoncemore: I am an idiot. I should ahve thought to call Logitech and complain, instead I went out and bought another of their products. I still have the old mouse ... time to see if they will replace (even if it is out of warrantee). - Btrash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"this experience really is making me reconsider these other purchases."
are you kidding me? Logitech is one of the best mice/keyboard companies out there. They are also probably the best as far as customer service. If ANYTHING Logitech breaks on you, they will almost hands down send you a new one if you send it in. I am sure that if you send that in, they will either send you a new one (with hopefully an update to their battery) or a better model like they are known to do. - fofusion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I had the same mouse and it used to beep funny while it was charging which got me worried something like that would happen.
Eventually the mouse stopped working alltogether so I called logitech and they replaced it.
Logitech have the best customer service I've ever dealt with - I had bought a keyboard/mouse combo (the ones they usually sell at £100/$190) and a year had passed so it was out of warranty and it broke so I called them up and they asked if I had the receipt and how old it was and they sent out a newer model in a few days - Then eventually about 2 years later that one had broke (through the mouse charging/beeping) and they replaced the replacement! So I had 3 keyboards for the price of 1 :-D
Because of that I'll never buy anything other than Logitech.
They'll happily replace it. - Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I had the exact same thing happen to me. I sent it in and they sent me a new model all together. They said there was a recall on that model and those batteries, but for some reason I didn't get it in time.
Scary because who knows, my house could of easily caught on fire and burned down. - benitojuarez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5sure as hell looks like a logitech mouse if youve ever used one.
- Apoc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The ads aren't annoying and flashy, they're just a way for him to make a quick buck while providing some information to the community. Nothing wrong with that. If he has to pay hosting costs, that'll defer it a bit. And the reason he listed all those other products is because he's worried that they might 'splode on him too, probably wants to know if anyone else has had a situation with one of the other products as well. Besides, his mouse exploded, we might as well click his ads to help him get a new one!
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ok, now I'm intrigued.
- UoMDeacon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Totally agree. Every time I have ever had a problem with any of my Logitech products, the customer service has been top notch.
In relation to this actual post, this happened to me once as well with the original batteries that came with my MX700. I guess they just gave out, and one day I came back, the mouse was insanely hot. I guess I caught it before it melted. - seizium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yay, I have the same mouse. At least I know this wont happen to me because the charger died long ago :-(
One thing to note though is when the charger did work the mouse got very hot. - Plutonium, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6He is just a fast mouser.
- aknowles5139, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6*looks at Logitech MX Revolution*.... i really hope that doesnt happen to this mouse....
- badken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4For my part, I prefer a wireless mouse because it's easier for me to use in games. The mouse cord somehow always seems to get in the way, and usually at the worst possible moment. It's also more convenient if you don't have an easy way to route wires around your desk, and you have a standalone computer case standing next to the desk, for example.
- pillarofblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have seen the acid leak out of non-rechargeable batteries included with Logitech cordless mice before. Logitech products and support ROCK, but the batteries they include don't. My suggestion is to throw away the "free" batteries and put in a nice set of brand name batteries. You should avoid this situation all together going this route.
Provided the serial # shows he is still in warranty, I agree with radar5 that if he calls Logitech Tech Support he should be able to get a replacement with no problems. - antechinus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That will serve him a lesson to only download batteries from trustworthy sites.
- theojanke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've had my MX Duo for about 3 or 4 years.
The keyboard stopped working a few weeks ago.
Emailed tech support, told them I didn't have the receipt.
They said no problem and replaced it with a new model. -
