Yeah, and the site _is_ pretty awful too. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21That website is so beautiful, I cryed. No, no wait. No, I was crying because it is horribly designed.
- f00xx0riz3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Whaddya use now thats your 15?
- jav1231, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12"World's oldest webserver crashes serving story of world's largest plane crashing!"
- trollick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Inaccurate: world's 5th largest
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12The AN-225 is a lot bigger than the C-5B.
- MoneyManJM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I got to see this up close, I was driving down Route 1 a few minutes after it happened and saw the plane broken into 3 pieces.
Here's a picture from wikinews

And an article from USAToday with video.

BTW if you haven't seen them, the C5 Galaxy's are HUGE up close. - PR3DAT0R6sic6, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10http://duggmirror.com/
- 955701, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Not American engineering, but engineering in general - why must countries brainwash their citizens into patriotism? It's a feat on behalf of humanity, not any one subset of people based on an artificial boundary.
Engineering is not performed in a vacuum you know... - g30ph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7don't discount the pilot.
- ricree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The problem is that the title says World's Largest
- thorgrim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8My bad, apparently I'm one who needs to read!
- taforever, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I know it has already been said, but my god that site is Craptastic.
- MacParrot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The Antonov An-225 (A Russian cargo plane) is actually the world's largest.
- ArchieAndrews, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Read the headline again.
- badnewsblair, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I love that scrolling text in the Status Bar! I used to put that on all my websites... when I was 14.
- redalienzero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4that's a HUGE bitch!
- terrablebyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Desmond forgot to push the button!
- Arnold22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I got more info from the digg description. That site was a POS
- Yankees368, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Can anyone actually get the pictures to load on the mirror?
- Soniti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My dad used to fly those- he always commented "Even understanding the physics behind it, it never ceases to amaze me how something so massive can still fly..."
I think the same thing.
~Soniti - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3wow, site didnt stand up to digg for very long either. Died after just 50 diggs.
- palmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And there's no picture anyway. WTF?
This site is, without question, the worst I have seen all year. - MoneyManJM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2About 65 Feet tall and 300 feet long.
- thomn8r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2More links to the incident

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=1802897 - ArchieAndrews, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Now that I see the pic, I remember I had read about this before. Here is a forum post from a very active discussion board about air crashes and it has many more pics and and more discussion about the crash itself:
http://www.airdisaster.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78648&highlight=galaxy+crash - onedobb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That site looked like it was made by a 3 year old. And it looks about dead too. Duggmiror hasn't got the images yet.
- foodbar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"more than 6 stories tall & nearly the length of a football field,"
How much is that in real units? - critic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I feel the same way about even the 747.
Sitting in the cabin and just looking around. It's amazing to me that something that big can even fly one time, never mind maintain regularly scheduled flight.
The wonders of mankind! - seancurran, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The AN225 is larger, but not actively flown anymore. I believe the floors are made out of wood
- Burritovision, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the www.midairport.blogspot.com is designed to handle a million pound plane.
call me. - willcode4beer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It was the roomiest plane I ever jumped out of (especially after the C130's and C141's).
Opening shock was a bitch though. - seancurran, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They say minor injuries, but 4 of those guys will never fly again. One can't even walk
- ArchieAndrews, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Same one and it was in April, as the pics you submit note.
- Deuterium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I saw people cry when Itold them they had to fly in one going home from Iraq. I always enjoyed my time on a C-5 though, then again I liked Spain and Dover. If you are looking for a quick trip home or to the battlefield though, the C-5 sure ain't your ticket.
- eidolontubes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1oh, how horrid. there are crash pictures.. but i am unable to see them. Why would someone do this?
- MurrayFox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"About 65 Feet tall and 300 feet long."
He said REAL units; About 20 meters tall and 92 meters long. - Darthmalt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://www.amc.af.mil/news/story_media.asp?storyID=123018521
Not the site but a C5 galaxy that crashed in march - xtr3m, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ukrainian An-225 "Mriya" (Dream) is largest aircraft on the planet. There are talks about reviving the second plane, but currently it's only one plane that's functional. Airbus 380 is actually higher, but An-225 is still overally bigger.
http://www.airliners.net/info/stats.main?id=389 - danclimbsmtns, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2i do not know how to navigate on the site, it blows my mind
- Pirkel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Agh Thorgrim beat me to it! Well then.... It is a very big plane though, I've been inside of one.
- flippinjeremy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1lol, diggeffect ftw
- whiskeymb, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4I think it says something towards American engineering when a plane can crash, a plane this huge, and yet only minor injuries occurred to the passengers. now if only some of this technology could make it into American CARS! =-}
- thorgrim, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3I think some folks need to read the desc! It says "ONE of the largest" not "THE largest" and I think #5 qualifies it as one of the largest!
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -15/+7"World's Largest Aircraft (C5-B) Crash Lands"
shut the ***** up *****. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -17/+6WTF? Good job, digg me down idiots.
The synopsis itself says ONE OF the worlds largest aircraft, not THE largest aircraft. The page it links to then says largest US aircraft, not largest in the world. - Toco8804, on 10/12/2007, -14/+1www.duggmirror.com
- jaycliche, on 10/12/2007, -16/+2"World's Largest"??? Me thinks not http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/design/q0188.shtml
Where's the crash? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -22/+6It says largest US aircraft, retard.
