The storevault s550 is a feature rich SAN that's very useful for backup and for network storage such as windows users shares, databases, and other information technology storage needs.The question of whether it's iSCSI networking components are reliable is a concern.

  • puppet, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1after a new installation of exchange server for a novell groupwise migration of all email data from three groupwise post offices, the storevault had become so unreliable that we have placed the exchange data stores back on the exchange server's local hard drives.
    the original plan had included using iSCSI between the exchange server (an HP DL380) and the netapps storevault S550. the iSCSI inistator had been properly configured on the exchange server and apparently on the storevault as well but during the migration process the stores continuously went offline. since moving the stores back to the exchange server's local drives, they have not gone offline.
  • puppet, on 04/06/2009, -0/+1I've seen several StoreVaults experience networking issues. They drop pings and if your using LUNs and iSCSI, the problem is worse. Database connectivity is lost.
