- casspa, on 11/11/2008, -2/+60It appears you've already answered my Crysis question!
- AmyVernon, on 11/11/2008, -0/+25I'm all about the answers.
- Ricochetbiscuit, on 11/11/2008, -1/+17I would say it does for sure. 1920X1200 work for you? :P
- GawtMilk, on 11/12/2008, -0/+11What's sex like?
- plundstedt, on 11/12/2008, -0/+11Thank you, Digg, for giving me some tech news mixed in with the goats, cats, dogs, birds, and hampsters!
- tendonut, on 11/12/2008, -0/+10I know what you mean, but I really don't see PC gaming dying out.
My two-year old GeForce 8800GTS can run CoD5 completely maxed out at 1680x1050 at over 100FPS. This card is hardly state of the art and CoD5 is pretty much the must-have game right now. Sure, it's not the PC's current benchmark tech demo (Crysis) but it's way up on the list of good looking PC games. And the card's SUCCESSOR can be had for under $200.
This also means people who say PC gaming is too expensive can suck my left nut. You can get a GeForce 9800GT for under $130. That thing runs ANYTHING. - AmyVernon, on 11/11/2008, -0/+10Damn you, Adam!!!!
- MacBookForMe, on 11/11/2008, -2/+12Does it run it at full resolution?
- Chrysalii, on 11/12/2008, -1/+10Will it blend?
- AmyVernon, on 11/12/2008, -0/+8@metaliq - You don't want me to answer that. I've given birth twice, and it ain't a pretty thing.
- metaliq, on 11/12/2008, -0/+8What's birth like?
- Zaggynl, on 11/12/2008, -2/+9holy ***** that's like 5% more FPS :D
/yawn - superxero044, on 11/12/2008, -0/+6why do they even do benchmarks anymore? they should just have a checkbox that says "runs crisis"
- illDecree, on 11/12/2008, -0/+6you had me at "runs crysis"
i dont even give a damn about the specs now - Aidanjalali, on 11/12/2008, -1/+6Yes I'll have one of these please, and a fridge.
- Dumbfood, on 11/12/2008, -0/+5@gawfmilk, try http://wikipedia.org/ (citation needed)
- Zippo, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4Ah, well, that makes infinitely more sense. Thanks for clearing that up.
- Torx, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4...straight to the crysis comparison.. yep. thats all i need to know. Asus EAH4870X2TOP
- Swivelstick, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4"Okay, I love having the fastest card on the block just as much as the next hardcore gamer" = I'm starting to get a bit older now so it really isn't that important to me these days :)
- kronix2, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4As monitors become cheaper, the native resolution of the average new monitor increases.
Try playing any AAA game at 1920x1200 with most of the settings ramped up with only 4xAA. Anything less than an 8800 GTX will struggle. - scabbers, on 11/12/2008, -1/+4I think my next card will be ATI unless nvidia can match the power management features without trying to sell me a new mainboard.
- bobdigi, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3Can you be more unoriginal?
- SunSparrow, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3Dugg for "Crysis made my PC reboot."
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3Will it blend Crysis?
- Vazel, on 11/12/2008, -1/+4ati > nvidia
- danwallace, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2How much is it?
- oMeSSiaHo, on 11/12/2008, -2/+4Those cards come with an adapter that connects to that port that allows you to run component, composite and S-video. Its not the same s-video you are thinking about.
- Zippo, on 11/12/2008, -2/+4An S-Video Port? Really now.
All that power, pumped out in stunning 480i! - tendonut, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2From the summary:
"And yes, it's good for Crysis!" - sneaker98, on 11/12/2008, -1/+3Keep up with the times, my son.
- sneaker98, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Don't do that. I'm sure ATi appreciates the free advertising, but nobody likes a blind fanboy.
Stick to the results, folks. At current, ATi has the performance crown, but the war will indeed continue. - inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Windows made my pc reboot.
- deepleet, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Yes it can, here's a video proof:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0 - sanosuke001, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2I have an ASUS EAH4870X2 (non-TOP version but same decal) and it's 10.5" inches long. I had to install a PCI SATA card to plug in my secondary HDDs because the video card covered them up.
Before you buy one, make sure it won't ***** you over... oh, I also tried to use the 6-pin power adapters to bring two square 4-pins together and two hdd 4-pins together because my PSU had no 6-pins. Crysis made my PC reboot by pulling too much power. Mine takes 1x square 4-pin and 2x 6-pin. Just make sure your PSU can handle it. I had to buy a new one :/ - DotGet, on 11/12/2008, -0/+24870x2 is $510 at its cheapest, while the MSI version will probably start out at about $530, $50 more than two MSI GTX 260's at Newegg, and more or less just as effective.

The comparison shows 4870's in crossfire, which typically fares marginally better than 4870x2.
I prefer Nvidia, just because I've been with them for years, and my monitor is only 1440x900, so any performance gains of the 4800 series with higher resolutions don't apply to me. - tendonut, on 11/12/2008, -1/+2Yeah and hasn't pretty much EVERY video card in the past 5 years had that same dongle thingy? My GeForce 6100GS in my Mythbox outputs component over that "S-video" port.
- DotGet, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1I'll stick with my two GTX 260's in SLI :). Crushes everything on that chart with 80% scaling on average, and only $80 more than one GTX 280 (if you shop around).
- TherealObadiah, on 11/12/2008, -1/+2Okay, I love having the fastest card on the block just as much as the next hardcore gamer, but really, the graphics card war is fast coming to an end. Where are the PC games? Aside from Crysis, what game is on the horizon that will need real speed? I mean, game developers don't want to do PC games anymore because of pirating, and gamers scream bloody murder if there is any anti-pirating protection built in.
So what do we get? Dumbed down console games. Hence, little future need for super graphics cards. - GeorgeStone2, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1Card is loooonngg.
I had to sqeeze it in, literally. - PeanutCheeseBar, on 11/12/2008, -2/+2Ask this man:
