- ylocav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that's awesome. only problem is, i rarely actually look at my keyboard anyways, or use any hotkeys. i'd buy one anyways. hope it's wireless, although that wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me.
i would bet that 'patents expected' is a mistranslation of 'patents pending' - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1here, i just used a online translater
Below the second pic
"In keyboard Optimus each key is the separate display, displaying what she operates at present."
Below the third pic
"Almost square key of translation of the carriage (Enter) is submitted in especially large size"
Below the 4th pic
"The additional block of keys at the left is intended for switching between programs or modes"
"Optimus simultaneously approaches for any keyboard allocations ? cyrillic, ancient greek, Georgian, Arabian and further indefinitely: notes, figures, spetssimvoly, HTML-codes, matfunktsii"
This is from the last line above the last pic
"Patents are expected."
so we may not be seeing this soon... - ant1532, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Revolution???
- PacoBell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Huh, looks like Engadget just picked up the story. I didn't know it was wireless. I wonder how they figured that out?
- mercury81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0somebody probably already figured this out, but if you go to http://www.artlebedev.com/ it has the website in English.
- PacoBell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whoa. Looks like it's not just Engadget that's been clued into this story. According to Technorati, it's exploded onto the blogosphere in force =O
- Dolemack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't see this costing less than $1000. I like it though, but Bill Gates and Shaq will be the only people that has it.
- briansalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd love to see something like that integrated into a notebook, after better battery tech gets upped of course. I'd buy it though
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I really wouldn't be surpised if Apple bought this design up.
- SuperMoonMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, that's awesome. I would REALLY like to have one.
- exorcist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In case you missed it, it's only concept. :-(
"July 14 - Optimus keyboard concept completed" - Twelve-60, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mad!!! :D
Someone order one for me :P
The application for this is endless... no reading manuals for game controls, its all on the keyboard! - Crisis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is simply 1337
- celeb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, this is gorgeous
- brianpeiris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Additional block of keys on the left is meant for switching between programs or modes"
Physical taskbar, lovin' it! - nilsth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm going to run a episode of Futurama on each key! ;)
I bet it won't be long until they make a mouse with the same feature... - beezn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just got a semi seeing that thing!
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lol, my friend just said "i could put naked chicks on all the keys....
"ok the boob is forward...the naked pic of Pam Anderson is
sidestep...." - Ender61484, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, I want one.
- KdoggMDF, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That keyboard is pretty sweet... I want one. If you want to see the page in english, use http://www.worldlingo.com/en/websites/url_translator.html to translate it (by entering the URL from the link at the top of this page in the URL box on the page) :-)
- wheels999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks awesome but is it real? Any readers with Russian language skills?

btw, the english page is here: http://www.artlebedev.com/portfolio/optimus/ - captainnico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh snap! this thing is *****. I will steal a delivery truckload full of these if I have to, only to be gunned down for one of them, and the company's ceo will call my parents to tell them how sorry he is for their loss. No, seriously.....*****.
- rexydog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is Cool
- Suddud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All right, bad ass, I'll give you...but not sure this will be coming available any time soon. Check this page http://www.artlebedev.ru/portfolio/id/ using the translator above... looks like this company is purely design only. They aren't the ones that produce. They got a whole bunch of other household things, some available, some marked in production and some with no status, like this one. I assume that the date was just when the project of designing this was completed. So, I'd treat this like a concept car...looks cool, not available for some time though...
- lerch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That is purly Awsome! Im so getting one!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is so fricking sweet
~Peter Griffin - volcompimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want to carry that thing's baby
- vernsan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Think if you can have different colors all over the keyboard, or having scrolling letters across the whole keyboard. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. Someone needs to get it now and hack it =D.
- o0nac0o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0beautiful...
- alexander000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0where's the ANYKEY!
- --c3--, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i didn't think any thing could beat my logitech dinovo media desktop set.... wow
- genetic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0gimme gimme gimme
- MikeZila, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can't wait to get my /dev/hands on one.
Much better than the sharpie marker I use to note things on my current keyboard. - Dracos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This looks like the coolest keyboard EVAR. I wonder what the keys feel like, though.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's the most beautifully awesome piece of hardware I've seen in a long time. Let the application control the key labels. What a great idea.
- vuzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0VIVA LA REVOLUCION!
- demyen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can already hear the future and all of the complaints about dead pixels.
- fryevenile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That almost made me cry....lol.....I've got to have one.
- Iced_Eagle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0/me needs!!! Looks so damn cool!
- Kindred420, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I gotta have one of those. Keep us posted if someone runs across a place to purchase in the future.great diggeroo
- tfaz1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...must...have...keyboard...
- tactless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So when does ThinkGeek make this available?
- PacoBell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, the clear surface can't be frosted or textured in any way since that would affect the clarity of the image, so I'm guessing it's going to feel smooth and plasticky.
- DarkFactor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't like what they did to the enter key.
- ltcmndrdata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yea, I can see that to be the got to have item in a few years. It would be awesome if that is a real product instead of a render; unfortunately it looks too much like a render to get my hopes too high.
