- jrblaze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32That's a pretty sweet looking notebook!!
Here's a direct link to the laptop on the LG Site:
http://www.lge.com/products/model/detail/t1%20express%20dual.jhtml - retral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Sexy. Too bad laptops that focus strongly on ultra-thin, ultra-powerful aspects are usually ridiculously expensive.
- TopherT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Not to mention have rediculously short battery life.
- Iceduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Peel off the Windows/Intel stickers and you have a really nice clean laptop.
- johndi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It doesn't look like you can buy from the site, so unless jrblaze works for LG I'd say no. On this one I could probably be convinced otherwise without too much work.
- anthonykpc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8::Looks at 10 pound HP Laptop::
I want one! - drizek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6buy from asus or sager if you dont want windows installed.
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5more: http://www.yankodesign.com/product_info.php?products_id=1068
LG's page: http://www.lge.com/products/model/detail/t1%20express%20dual.jhtml - juanbobo808, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Just because a site is wrong doesn't mean you should report it as innacurate here, especially when it's not the submitters fault. It's meant to be used as a means for reporting someone advertising a website as Pron when really it's just a dating service. Give me a break, stop doing the admin's job for him/her. Get a life.
- kevin.gc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Reminds me of the black iPod Nano. I hope they don't get sued due to lack of scratch resistance.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4...and don't take it outside on a windy day.
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I wouldn't report it for spam since it actually includes intelligible grammar and spelling, as well as a good overview of the product.
MIRRORS:
http://duggmirror.com/hardware/LG_Unveils_The_World_s_Slimmest_Laptop_#c1710978
http://www.dlmag.com.nyud.net:8080/1584/lg-unveils-the-world-s-slimmest-laptop.html - juanbobo808, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The side view almost makes it look like a Razr. Wow, that's slim.
- msafi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Am I missing something here? My Thinkpad X40 is less than 21mm thin and weighs 2.6 pounds. If you go for the extended battery, which gives 6 hours with WiFi, you add one more pound to the package But still 3.6lbs for an extremely usable, highly durable laptop, is awesome.
- evilgod69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3bah, it has the TPM... to memory it is involved in tcpa somehow
- drizek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you can get the matte black version instead of the piano one.
- pucosk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hmm, still no DVI output, no NCQ SATA drives, and no track point. Plus the slowest Core Duo available. They could even go with LV/ULV.
- juanbobo808, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks like this is of better quality than that of the x505. It's got a bigger screen and a lot more features. Let's just say that no one has made a laptop this thin with a 14" screen until now. More power to them if Sony can top this.
- chidade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A good thing about LG laptops (well, at least my one) is that Windows doesn't come pre-installed and with bonus crap like toolbars and so on, like every Toshiba I've ever owned. That way, you can actually return the Windows CD back to Microsoft for a refund.
That was one great thing about the LG purchase, it had seperate discs for OS and Windows, so you weren't forced to use the Windows disc just to get the right drivers working. - diggsilva, on 07/10/2008, -1/+3It really doesn't look that nice, it's not that powerful (a DC 1.5GHz), and it will be really expensive? I think not.
- ebs16, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2LG makes some of the best cell phones on the market, or at least for the Verizon Wireless market. Their phones tend to look like crap, but they are are light years ahead of every other manufacturer in terms of software design, key placement, and hardware quality. Their prices are considerably low, too.
- diggsilva, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2The MBP is 25.9mm thick...across its entire footprint. This one appears to be thinner at one end than the other--where did they measure it?
- samgab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow. 1.9kg! I like it a lot. and want one. I also like the "piano black" surface. Mmm. Nice. Would scratch up like an iPod though.
- Sanchez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The title is misleading, it's the thinnest Core Duo laptop, not just laptop.
I love this thing.. it's just so small and sexy. Let's take a look at the cons.
Cons:
* Mostly made of plastic, not as durable as, say, carbon fibre
That's fair, I just need to be careful I guess. A case is never the worst invesment either.
* 60gig 4200rpm hard drive
* Hard drive's "plunk"/"click" noise
If I was to get this laptop I would replace it with something faster anyway, I can spend a little more so these are non issues for me.
* Bundled software is not spectacular
It never is.
* Not meant for 3D gaming
No *****, sherlock.
A good college/uni laptop me thinks. - nakedcellist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It looks very nice.. one thing though, what I really hate about pc laptops: you have a very nice designed laptop, and then you put those extremely ugly windows/intel stickers on them..
- Coppertop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1slick, very slick, but I would be afraid to use it. One wrong move and you have two halves of a laptop
- lnxaddct, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol a DC 1.5Ghz will absolutely smoke a P4 3.2 Ghz machine (it'll even probably beat a dual proc P4). Stop measuring performance based on ghz... It is a meaningless number that Intel spent billions marketing.
- Flanker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Site linked to by parent poster could use a spellcheck. I don't want my wireledd connection to be stable.
- AnnaHom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2937&Review=LG+T1+Core+Duo+Notebook
NotebookReview already got their hands on one, looks like it's only available in Canada, - sleepless, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I don't think this is the thinnest laptop ever because I recall the Sony X505 was thinner than this. You can check it out here:
http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_VAIO_X505_series/4505-3121_7-30886049.html
http://www.engadget.com/2004/05/12/sony-bringing-worlds-thinnest-laptop-to-america/
Unfortunately, the X505 is no longer in production. :-/ - tijer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It really doesn't look that thin at all... Just unbalanced - in the sense that the front is really really thin, but the back is fat. I think Asus, and others, have made models just as thin for quite a while now.
- AaronD12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1BFD: Apple's 17" Mac Book Pro is 25mm thick. Who cares if LG's laptop is 3mm thinner? It has a smaller screen, a slower Core Duo processor, and has no built-in cam like the Mac Book Pro.
NO DIGG - yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is it the same notebook Lim Soojung used in the commercial?
- diggtard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love how LG tries to sound hi-tech..
"Dual Hexa-Band (wtf) Antenna has dual receiving components which divide frequency band into 6 sub-bands."
Then they explain what this marketing mumbojumbo means with a sentence like this..
"It makes wireleDD connections more stable and provides wider coverage."
Nice job LG. Way to market a fancy "piano black" case to us and charge a premium for standard parts because you describe them in fancy made up way. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1See that nice black top on that and then take a look at that nice fingerprint access i bet ten min i can get in that box.
- JesseJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks ok, but why does things have to be so very slim? You must have very very tight pants if you need a slim cellphone. And a really tight backpack if you need to shave that extra 2cm off a laptop.
I just don't see the point. I rather have longer lasting batteries and carry 1kg more. - samgab, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's not spam! Thanks for the link, jrblaze! I always prefer to check out the manufacturers site, and the spec.s.
- Lare2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But you have to consider that this one has an optical drive inside, while the Sony you mention don't
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just ruminating on the state of the world today...
LG introduces a product for sale. Akihabara News writes a story about it, free exposure for LG, Akihabara makes some ad revenue off the story. Then Gizmodo reprints it, again, ca-ching! Yanko Design then regurgitates the Gizmodo story (more ad revenue), and DLmag.com picks up the Yanko article. Finally, Digg gets it on the front page, and from there, how many links and emails will go on?
All that activity (and people getting paid), and at the heart of it, not even actual content, but a product for sale.
I'm not judging, just looking on in wonder and awe... - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I wanna get one of these and mod it into a giant cell phone.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow..they made it 21mm thick...and that was just to accommodate the DVD burner.
Any thinner, and it would have to use floppys...without the outer case ;-) - gandubhalla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks good with lid closed
- Khoji, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Don't sit on this one, boys and girls!
- millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So, where/when can we buy one??
- K4P741NxKRUNCH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WOW, I'm very impressed, surprised they could pack a DVD burner in there
hopefully it's a toshiba drive, they have some good HDD - lieb39, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I really hope this is where companies will start to focus their research on laptops: getting the size down, and of course, the thickness of the laptops. They have come a long way from the early ones but they haven't really seen insane improvements over the past few years. Ahhh well, hopefully in 5 years a normal laptop will be 21mm thick! :)
Cheers! - gogurt666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't trust LG after all of the problems I had with my LG phone and the problems my friend had with an LG monitor but I have to admit that they do make some cool tech. If only they could make it work right.
- thejaysta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ooohhh - I've gotta get one! :-)
I have an asus w3v and I thought it was pretty thin and light! - Archer06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just finished fixing an LG laptop (the XNote 50) and it was a real pain. The power jack in the laptop broke right off so I had to solder it back on for my friend. I tried looking online for some help from LG and there was nothing there. They have really bad tech support as well, I haven't heard back from them at all.
The laptop was also made of very poor quality parts. I would never buy a laptop from LG. - antdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Does that woman come with the laptop if I order it? [grin] ;)
