- DangerIsGo, on 02/19/2008, -44/+102Nope, even people who bought Bluray are still screwed for BD 2.0. BD 2.0 discs wont be playable on this BD gens players. HD-DVD early adopters are screwed because they lost. The reason for BD 2.0 not being able to play on early players is due to the lack of upgrade ability. The only player that has this capability is the PS3 due to its internet connection. All HD-DVD players had internet connection ports in their players so they never had this problem, a plus for HD-DVD, along with being totally region free. Either way, it never pays to be an early adopter, unless you know what you're in for.....to either be screwed with a dead format, or have to sell your old player for a new one to play new content (in BD case).

Pardon? This simply isn't true. There are double sided discs with HD DVD on one side and regular DVD on the other, but not every movie was released like this.

Did you pull that out of your own ass or someone else's? In what way is HD DVD better integrated? There are PCs that come with Blu Ray drives and Blu Ray burners are already available and half the price they were a year ago.

And because of this, HD DVDs were delayed in the US until a film could finish it's theatrical run elsewhere. Blu Ray has region codes implemented, but for one, the US is the same region as Japan and Asia, and many movies are regionless.

And that point is brought back into play when you consider that, using the same idea of adding layers, Hitachi created a 100GB Blu-Ray that would only require a firmware update to play in old players.
