- rvaldes04, on 09/10/2008, -4/+86i wonder what the "actual" battery life is, probably on the order of 4-6 hrs.
- credential101, on 09/10/2008, -1/+66Now it's time for HP to break the 2,500 page barrier on their printers.
- holyskeleton, on 09/10/2008, -3/+51Idling doesn't count, if it can run Crysis for 24 hours on battery then it is a feat.
- redscofield, on 09/10/2008, -2/+42um... if it gets up to 24 hours of battery life, how does it break the 24 hour barrier??? doesn't it just meet it?
- IndigoMoss, on 09/10/2008, -0/+39Damn, the most impressive thing about this is that it isn't running something like Atom. It's actually running a full-fledged Core 2 Duo.
- thegamingguy, on 09/10/2008, -2/+36It is about time, I am tired of having to find a plug-in every few hours.
- ResonantToe, on 09/10/2008, -3/+35And I just plain dislike Barrie. He should be broken...
Prick - baldboy7, on 09/11/2008, -0/+31r
- doiveo, on 09/10/2008, -0/+18Now when will I sleep?
- Daniel591992, on 09/11/2008, -0/+17Still good compared to many laptops.
- trousercustard, on 09/10/2008, -1/+15I am currently getting about 45mins life out of my 3 year old HP Pavilion....I could use one of these!!!
- EtherGnat, on 09/11/2008, -1/+13Your porn lasts 24 hours. You last 24 seconds.
- gubatron2, on 09/10/2008, -4/+16I hope Apple hears the story, my MacBook Pro's battery won't last 15 mins unplugged and the laptop is only 1 and 1/2 years old
- masterkenobi, on 09/11/2008, -0/+11Dude, 15 minutes? That's hardly enough time to fire up some porn and rub one out.
Ok, maybe it is. - disrupter, on 09/11/2008, -1/+10Still not long enough to view all my porn
- Sonan, on 09/10/2008, -3/+11My Acer already gets more than 24 minutes (just barely). Oh wait, they said hours...
- FUR10N, on 09/11/2008, -1/+9more like: if it can run Crysis then it is a feat.
- sockpuppets, on 09/11/2008, -0/+7I put a car battery in my backpack then I walk across the country with mine.
- Relikh, on 09/11/2008, -0/+7Still beats the laptops that say 4-6 hours and end up lasting 45 minutes after a week and a half.
- nowsourcing, on 09/10/2008, -1/+8Now just imagine that they could break barriers! That would be truly amazin
- inactive, on 09/11/2008, -0/+7Awesome. Now I can finally take my 25 hour porn compilation on the go.
- Relikh, on 09/11/2008, -0/+7That's enough time to do that then have 12 minutes left over for digg.
- peterinjapan, on 09/10/2008, -2/+9Is there some kind of sonic boom when a laptop breaks the 24-hour barrier? It's nice of course, although that machine is rather fugly.
- D3koy, on 09/11/2008, -0/+6I'd be pleased with 1/4 that...I'm getting about 55 mins or so on a charge these days...
- TSK05, on 09/11/2008, -0/+5Cell count determines voltage, not mah (of course, they could put two or more batteries parallel so that would actually increase mah).
- yoda17, on 09/11/2008, -0/+5This translates into an actual 3-4 hour run time in real life.
- inactive, on 09/11/2008, -0/+4 And it only weighs 12 pounds!
Seriously articles like this stink. Don't brag to techies and conveniently leave out any hard numbers that would tell the real story. anyone likely to read that article knows damn well they wont be getting anywhere near 24 hours. - rocketpop, on 09/11/2008, -1/+5Let me guess--the ultra capacity battery adds about 2" in thickness and 12lb to the total weight. It seems the new rage is adding a "battery slice" for high capacity. While they certainly are increasing capacity and efficiency, adding a giant battery and claiming that it's a breakthrough seems to be cheating a bit.
- azurepalm, on 09/11/2008, -0/+4Engage!
- greenlight2001, on 09/11/2008, -0/+4It's *SO* clear now. It's like you've lifted a veil from my eyes. The WHOLE articles makes sense now! Thank you!
- ryan83189, on 09/11/2008, -1/+4I need this, my battery lasts about 10 minutes, without wireless and the lowest brightness setting on my display. I have to run from outlet to outlet, but I can catch my breath during the 5 hour wait to get back to full capacity.
- Butter66, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3I'd look into a replacement battery. My macbook pro runs about 3 hours on battery, and that's while running photoshop, illustrator, flash and dreamweaver pretty heavily. I can run 4+ hours just doing light work with the screen brightness down
- zdiggler, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3I have a old Asus L2000D laptop with 1.5ghz processor. I use it everyday on battery for 3 years in fields, I still get 3hr of battery life on it. They must have done something right on it, its pretty fast for the processor it have in there. New Asus don't have much battery life as the L2000D.
- deezeejoey, on 09/11/2008, -3/+6too bad HP's laptops are pieces of *****.
- AxsToro, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3I get around 3 hours best on my Gateway, which is about a year old.
(btw, this laptop has surprised the ***** out of me. It runs Vista amazing.) - Fozefy, on 09/11/2008, -1/+4Well if you put them on all their lowest settings you probably get close to that battery life. Though then it performs like crap and you might as well have an EEE PC.
- KibibyteBrain, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3Unfortunately, current technology lacks for supporting an equally scaled ultra-fast charger, so if you do let it go for a dozen hours or more without a charge, you will still have to let it spend quite a while charging that may interfere with its use.
- groovygraham, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3The benchmark used Windows XP. On the Vista benchmark it came in about 22 hours, but the benchmarks aren't the same so it isn't fair to say XP lasts longer.
- bipolarruledout, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3I'll settle for the 80 page barrier on their inkjets.
- heavyd14, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3miliamp-hours, not per hour
e.g. 5 mah = 5 miliamps for an hour, or 1 miliamp for 5 hours, etc. - Frozo, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3And my 1.5 year old MacBook Pro gives me 30 minutes :(
- airstrike, on 09/11/2008, -2/+5well played, sir
- rheaume, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Wow, i still thought that laptops had 2-3 hours tops with stock batteries
- brundlefly76, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2I can't even get 24 hours out of my friggin iPhone.
- cheezemunkey45, on 09/11/2008, -1/+3Yea let me know when it doesn't cost a billion dollars, then I'll be interested.
- airstrike, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2FAIL
- AlienMushroom, on 09/11/2008, -1/+324 Hour barrier? Are notebooks supposed to know there are 24 hours in a day?
- LemonChicken, on 09/11/2008, -1/+3Same with my Toshiba.
Words cannot describe my discontent. - dorkus9999, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2What they dont tell you is that it will take 1 week to charge that thing!
- Jeeum, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Looks like this digger needs to work on his submitting script.
