As far as the article, this isn't really surprising. Why would Google want to enter the cell-phone market? They're so dominant in other markets, it would be an unnecessary risk in an area that is already fiercely competitive. - superkendall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Being total fabrications I'm sure the pics looked great. I guess the 1600x1200 display in a 2x2" area should have been a tipoff something was up.
- SteveMax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Will you please shut up already? Just digg the damned video, and if enough people care about it they will make it to the front page.
Not me, though. As much as I'm for not damaging the environment anymore, I'm so pissed off at you that I'll bury it at sight. - Condottieri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Why must you blogspam?
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Whoever said Google Phone would be an iPhone killer was the liar. Is Google at fault because journalists spread gossip about them?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, while one hand shoots the rumours down the other hand has hired the Sidekick team to build the phone.

Google ain't making a mobile phone. MAYBE an OEM is making a GoogleTalk handset. I know several that have been shopping for XMPP/Jabber/Jingle to put in WiFi, single-mode handsets and cordless phones. But nothing yet is approved for production. Other products like the Skype phone did not succeed as well as hoped.
- todaynow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1why would they make a phone when they are interested in TV more, as soon as the trial of TiVo vs EchoStar is over Google will buy TiVo
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1More and more phones are doing this. Many are currently available.
- M2Ys4U, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't take you seriously with all those exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's the point?????????????? - M2Ys4U, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Integrated Google Talk
- macon3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They should make a phone to hook up to their free wifi and do VoIP
- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I would have bought a Google phone over an iPhone any day.
- haggie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would love to see a multi-function phone that would auto-switch between cell and Wifi.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1that sucks, i was really more interested in a google phone, than an iphone, from the "pics" that were out it looked great.
- megalopata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wonderful! Wow, these are cool!
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I read elsewhere that when (not if) Google makes a phone it will be an inexpensive solution for third world countries with growing infrastructures.
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Here's my source - http://googlewatch.eweek.com/content/google_products/exec_confirms_google_phone.html
- Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, except for a few Google server hardware add-ons (search boxes) I doubt Google will ever enter the hardware market. Why should they? They are making billions simply in the software side of things, wasting any time and money on a product that may or may not succeed just isn't good business sense (whats making a few more million in hardware sales compared to billions for doing nothing more then flooding the internet with ads), When others like Apple are quick to whore themselves to get into Google's good graces, Google doesn't have to raise a finger to influence the hardware market.
- mobilitatis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is the same strategy used b Steve Jobs before the iPod "We don´t care music business", and see what happened.
- MercilessKiller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Drunken posts - Just can't control them
- Sethwm2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I thought that Apple and Google got together to make the iPhone with the Google Maps integration? I would think that Apple would just work closer with Google to make a better iPhone
- coolguy07, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Where there's smoke there's fire is all I have to say.
- mescyouth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Will google ever live up to the hype? Where's my Google networked computer?? Where's my google phone??? Where's my ability to use Google earth to spy on the playboy mansion????
Meanwhile I've got a software pack and theme for the homepage...... - N3wtR0ckn13, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Meanwhile they have a cool mobile phone club that meets on campus: http://telefono.revejo.org/
- MercilessKiller, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I don't believe this I'm afraid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was in "The Times" and some other newspapers with quotes from people that work for google as well as other companies involved such as phone operators who all confirmed google being involved in creating a phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cant remember the details of the article but it included Samsung, a deal with Orange as well as Vodafone and its going to be produced by a sub company of Samsung but will be a "GPhone" as quoted in the times.
It will also aim to be a rival to the iphone said the report.
EDIT:

- mescyouth, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0I'm glad to see Google used their sophisticated blog search engine to locate and read MY blog.

Kudos to you Google! - manofsilver, on 10/12/2007, -38/+1Glad to see the exec in Southeast Asia agrees with my take on things (at http://themanofsilver.blogspot.com/2007/03/google-doesnt-need-google-phone-and.html)
