- knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -6/+130"should be enough for all your porn"
key word here is 'should' - inv1c7u5, on 10/12/2007, -12/+123psh...3TB is about 22% of my porn.
/sarcasm

- BigglesPiP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+45Not sure how old the article is but Hitachi have 1Tb drives out now.
- KuntaKinte, on 10/12/2007, -3/+43yes, clearly that are a vasectomy...and you is dab at spell
- christopheles, on 10/12/2007, -3/+43Still not enough for my porn. It's all full resolution.
I have a serious pornography problem. - iBenzin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36Nope. Still not enough.
- MrDash001, on 10/12/2007, -3/+37No he stared bleeding from his penis.

In soviet russia, porn drives... ahh no
screw it - Intrepion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+321) 3TB of porn
2) ???
3) Profit!! - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31The Internet is my porn drive. Why watch things twice?
- robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28I have searched the internet extensively in the recent past for a reasonably priced, multi-drive, SATA solution and I can honestly say it probably doesn't exist yet. While this would be great for 100 or even 150 bucks, I just cant justify spending over 200 on something that is basically a box with a fan in it for HDDs. There's no real cost to them in terms of a chipset as it's just straight SATA to eSATA and there's no built in RAID. Other than the cost (you can find 1TB [dual 500GB SATA drives] with Firewire800) the fact that it only has eSATA seriously limits its usefulness in almost all but dedicated host computer situations.
- ToxicBomber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27...you ran out of space?
- ozroy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26That seems expensive for something that appears to be nothing more than a PC case and power supply.
- OpenFuture, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24I think some of the guys on Digg need one of Sun's portable data centers to house all of their porno.
- Diggtatorship, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25@helium
idiot - dansued, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21@helium
vaporware? as in fails to go into production? announcing larger hard drives isn't vaporware, it's inevitability. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Actually Hitachi just release 1TB drives.
- choopie911, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19http://www.google.com/products?q=hitachi+1TB+drive&hl=en&safe=off&um=1&sa=X&oi=froogle&ct=title

- christopheles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Pedobyte?
That is brilliant beyond words. Thank you. - christopheles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17@MrDash
Stop telling people about my bleeding penis! - OpenFuture, on 10/12/2007, -0/+132) Burn to DVDs and sell to weirdo friends. Finally I found out what step 2 is.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17The lack of RAID sucks majorly.
- drewhenson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11somebody set up us the bomb
- pastasauce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11http://www.inventgeek.com/Projects/PoorMansRaid/Overview.aspx
14 SCSI drives. 10.25 terabytes. However, I still think I can fill it up. - jpeckinp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10But the biggest drive out is 1TB not 750GB. So you would have 4TB of HD space and not 3TB.
- Roflworthy, on 10/12/2007, -11/+19You mean lose.
- gubin09, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9not even enough for my butsecks vids...
- Paktu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Article would be more helpful if it said how much one of these things costs.
- BrainInAJar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8that much drive space without redundancy is a stupid idea...
I /never/ store data on a drive that isn't mirrored, or at the very least RAID5'ed - Ahnteis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6>>You mean lose.
No. He means loose. He's setting his hard drives free so they can roam the plains like their ancestors did long, long ago! BORRRRNNNN FREEEE! - Samiyam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"No!" he stared, bleeding from his penis.
Please folks, don't forget your punctuation.
/smartass - Xanium4332, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I don't get what's so special?
Unless I'm missing something, it seems as if it just literally 'a case' for HDDs. You still need to use 4 SATA connectors, and if I just put the HDDs inside my case it's the same thing. Also, not many boards have 4 eSATA connectors on the back (in fact most I've seen have never had one), so your still gonna need the bracket, and that defeats the whole point! - TrevorBradley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It won't be enough. It never matters how much you have, it'll never be enough.
I just built a 4xSATA 320GB RAID 5 system this past year. It's already full. MythTV doesn't help...
What we really need are cheap terabyte removeable media. - nimawin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Jorlwind
the thing is, you ALWAYS need a real woman.. whether you have that much porn or not! - Zidane, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I'm gonna need at least 10 of those just for the pictures...
- lexbaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Especially expensive considering that does not include any drives.
Get a small NAS setup for about the same price and you can not only store, but watch your porn anywhere. - JazzSax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For me it NEEDS to be NAS to be practical. IMO
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As long as there is storage space, I will find the porn to fill it! Any limit is a real lie.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sadly, there's never enough room.
- JohnboiWaltune, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If your computer's mainboard has RAID 5, but you have no room inside your case for 4 drives, there's no reason you can't use this enclosure to house your RAID. Then it would be easily transportable and you could turn it off when you weren't using it.
I would rather see a gigabit ethernet version with RAID 5 built in, but anyone who wants that is probably smart enough to build their own for cheaper.
The company also makes an internal version. If you have 3 free 5.25" bays, you can fit 4 3.5" HDs in it.
http://www.icydock.com/product/mb454spf.html - trekkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Enough? clearly you have low quality standards.
HD DVD movie is what, 30GB of space on a dual layer? 3TB is what, 100 movies? Not to mention 10MP TIFF files or larger for the stills, they eat up space real fast.
The hardest (no pun intended here) part is not just storing it, but backing it up. Keeping up with images as a photographer and keeping them backed up is a huge PITA. right now I'm using a single Mirra server but as I do more and more portraits and weddings and what not it sure stacks up saving everything in a quality format (RAW or PSD if modified beyond basic stuff) - biggrz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Seriously, have none of you heard of a software RAID-0 through Windows using dynamic disks?
http://www.techimo.com/articles/index.pl?photo=149 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Round up a spare computer and run Solaris 10 with ZFS and a butt load of cheap sata drives, no raid card needed.
- snek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2A friend of mine sells these: http://www.nexsan.com/satabeast.php
I think the machine itself turns me on more than porn though, 31.5TB of masturbation worthy goodness :D - st3vo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Over that, too pricey, get a D-Link DNS-323, runs linux, hackable, raid, fast, gigabit, and around $200 ..
I have had mine for a month and loving every moment of it. http://wiki.dns323.info/ go ahead, enjoy. - CaptShmo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3does it get hot enough to cook an egg on?
