- saroth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12This guy did all this hard work, and all you can think of is to criticize the programming language. Comments like this are why I stopped using Slashdot. Hopefully Digg will never become like Slashdot.
- thediscobar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10His software is written really well actually. I'm the guy who made the Disco Bar, and I'm using his software to control my bar. I've used his application for well over 12 hours non stop before with no crashes or problems.
- Prometheus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10This seems very much like something Quagmire would have...
- FearNLoathing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8The original MIT version:
http://web.mit.edu/storborg/ddf/ - mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10If he doesn't get any chicks for this, his time is completely wasted.
- saroth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7C programming is becoming outmoded. It lacks even objects. Therefore, a more modern language like C# is sometimes called for in a programming course (and IMHO it's more fun to write in).

- JaggedEdge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3just pure awesomeness. cant say i can the highest praise on the music choices though.... idk what that was in the background but now i have the words "cherrry cola" embedded in my brain.... I may have to go out and buy one...

- Meshyf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't think he was flamming as much as he was trying to share an observation.
- tjdoom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This rules! I wish I had one at home.
- danielfe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is *so* cool, I want one for my home :) I've been exchanging emails with Clint for a while now and he's planning on writing an article on how he wrote the software part for Coding4Fun ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/coding4fun ). It looks badass, well done.
- TKn00b, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2DEAD PIXEL haha just kidding that would suck
- nasalexport, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2its a dance floor for maybe 6 people, well i guess thats how many still like disco anyway :P
- accidental, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dont worry, this link is like 2 years old. It will be back once the hoopla wears off :)
- haloevo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thank you!
- miclamarre, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Hey, that's almost like the Disco Bar... Hmm, I'm pretty sure it's even using the same technology, controller boards and everything. http://thediscobar.blogspot.com/
- oliverhulland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://washufloor.blogspot.com/
I go to Washington University and the engineering school built an LED floor that was bigger and better (i.e. wireless) it was pretty incredible and they even had it shown at the local Contemporary art museum. Enjoy! - Takteek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lol localstart.asp...
The error's on line 40 *hehe* - ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Totally found an independent study project.
- CaptanAwal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mad props because you did it yourself
- kitejumping, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1anyone else have the domain name link to 127.0.0.1?
- joshjoneswas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2HEH! Too bad his servers aren't "betterthaneveryone" :X
- niwnfyc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WashU ALSO used MIT's controller boards just like this guy's dance floor, and the previous posted disco bar. No new technology...
By bigger, they mean they used 8 controller boards instead of 7 like this guys.
By wireless, they mean they used a wireless network card instead of a wired one - dandyhighwayman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Should have built a more robust server instead.
- pixel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ooohhhk... Error establishing a database connection.
- michaelcorcoran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't think it gets much better than Eagles of Death Metal for a party
- kleger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0down already?! gah
- brandizzle, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I can't name one woman that lists "can build a dance floor" in the qualities a man must have..
Actually I think if a man invited me over to his house and had this he definitely wouldn't be getting any. - gODfall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Thx!
- DavidDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oopx
- crutkas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, my hosting service thought I was getting DoSSed, I'm fighting right now to get it back up. This explains why.
- sabrtoothdtyper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hell Yeah, Disco Dance Floor. I was at his party and this thing is the coolest ***** thing I've ever seen. Its funny how so many people on this site are convinced that its lame without seeing it. For those people, I ask this: Do you like having people at your place? Do you listen to music? Do you like drinkin? The Disco Dance Floor is the ultimate catalyst for an awesome night with friends. Now Clint just has to figure out how to make huge amounts of cash from it.
- XxUNDEROATHxX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Oh Hell Yaa"
- michaelcorcoran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the guy is a friend of a friend. He went down to the party on Saturday night. And to answer your question, no, he still isn't getting chicks.
- TheFightForGood, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3digg-*****.
- perranha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am one of the coordinators of the WU Dance floor. Everyone's dance floors/bars are basically the same, our two selling points are our software (still linux, but client/server enabling wireless/remote control, and some playlist action...also various new ways of making animations in MIT's format), and portability. MIT's is built into a dorm, Clint's is in pieces but pretty much staying there. Ours is in 4 4x8 foot stage risers that lets us take it to parties (it's pretty heavy though).
In fact, tonight we're using it in a club near downtown STL for an AIDS benefit, we just finished setting it up earlier tonight.
We've been watching / working with clint for awhile including sharing ideas and giving him some animations, i'm glad to see his floor come to fruition! congrats! - iie.wakarimasen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this would go BEAUTIFULLY with any 8-bit character or scene from a video game!
- metalhed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0MIT's intro CS course (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6.001) is taught in Scheme, and most other classes that involve coding use Java. I don't know of any that use C#.
