I love AMD. - Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Start saving NOW.
- mhockey14221, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13And you thought kids got ripped on for having "two daddies".
- emorphien, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10All I want to know is "how much"
- douggmc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Luke ... AMD is your Quad-Father"
- cmiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5except it will probably cost a lot less. don't get me wrong, these things won't be cheap... but not nearly as much as a dual woodcrest machine.

no, thats 8 cores in one system. which is radically different from 8 cpus.
also you use more ellipses that i thought humanly possible. - quickjack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Make an offer they can't refuse.
- angelm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's 4cores X 4GPUs. That is 4X4.
As you can read, mobos have 4 PCIE x16.
This could allow you, for example, to run a demanding 3D games on 2 30' monitors. - j00fek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2another good question is: will we be able to buy everything seperate for a good price. we will have to see.
- abyssknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think I just wet myself...
Seriously, I just want the X2 prices to go down. ;) - dtimoney, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1I think the prices will go down sooner than you think...
- asg1290, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1HP is selling this type of config already.

I just got an one just a few days ago fror my job, very nice machine. - adiggtion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1AMD will make you an offer you can't refuse. :-)
- Reziarfg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm fairly sure it's pronounced "Four by Four" and is just writted down 4x4. It doesn't mean four multiplied by four. Think 4x4 vehicle. They don't have 16 wheels do they?
- creep303, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Someone should save those photo's. "... is the future" is always something good to look back on.
See also, "Nobody will ever need more than 640k RAM!" - clackerd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that name is rad.
- ArcticRain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok people, first point learn how to use proper grammar and spelling so that your opinion actually isn't dismissed as just an idiot spouting off.
Second point, 4x4 in vehicle is completely different from processing cores, in a vehicle you have 4 wheel that all have power, hence 4x4 compared to a regular vehicle that has 4 wheels with only two having power.
The naming convention currently being used is being used solely to deceive the uneducated consumer. Today you no longer have to accurately describe your product to your consumer. This is two processing cores on two processing chips, so the name should be 2x2, c'mon people, you wouldn't buy a bag of dogsh!t just because it says McDonald's on the outside, oh wait never mind... - Satanael, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I might have missed this during the latest Intel release of processors... but can someone explain to me why 4x4 does not mean 16 cores?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Marketing is my guess. Let's deceive the user into thinking there are 4 times as many cores!
- Smiff2, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3it's f**ing irritating isn't it.. it's 2 x 2, f**kwit marketing people. this is deception, plain and simple.. and like 4 wheel drive cars, they don't have 16 wheels either. i want my f**ing money back!
- cmiz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1it's just a name... 4x4 is what they call it.
it's 2 sockets each with a dual core processor (4 cores). upgradeable to two quad cores (when they are released) for a total of 8 cores. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1But will it run vista?? haha i had to say that. I cant wait for quad core!! *saves his $$$*
- goat77, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Edit:
Oy, I needed to RTFA. - anonym41414, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Sounds an awful lot like a dual dual-core Woodcrest to me.
Except that's right, I can already buy one of those. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3AMD can't get enough yields on 2.6GHz 5000+ AM2 X2s to keep up. Pardon me if I'm skeptical that they can make twice as many per machine.
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -15/+6man...just imagine...2 quad cores in one system...thats 8 cpu's...and in the fallowing 15 years. we would be up to probably 32 or even 64 cpus per computer...but by then the computer tower would be probably as big as current day graphic's cars. i.e. the radeon x1900...man o man technology is astounding that in just 100 years we go from wooden planes and simple cameras to all this...life is good. cept girls..they havnt changed...they still suck most the times...haha just kidding....
