- B3000, on 06/10/2008, -1/+26Wow, that hand looks so good that when I read the line "looks and acts like a real human hand with five individually powered digits." I looked back over the picture, puzzled, like "What? I can't quite tell how many fingers there are but that robotic hand clearly still looks like a metal pincer." I remained confused until a paragraph or two down the road when I realized I was looking at the wrong hand.
- mattes5, on 06/10/2008, -0/+13We can rebuild him. We have the technology.
- blizzard360, on 06/10/2008, -0/+10Kudos to the Touch Bionics team!
- bsweeney1977, on 06/10/2008, -1/+10This was impossible just a few years ago. Now we have actual bionics. Amazing times.
- bicyclethief, on 06/10/2008, -0/+6Add one fluffy lap-cat and we have the makings of a criminal mastermind.
- nexus37, on 06/10/2008, -0/+6That's great work! C'mon, let's give them a hand!
- Kenzan, on 06/10/2008, -1/+7I was totally on-board until I read it was named the "i-limb."
- yournamehere, on 06/10/2008, -0/+6umm, you're looking at the wrong hand.
- GSnake, on 06/10/2008, -0/+5It always makes my day to be the 5th person to bury a stupid comment.
These technologies will available to all who need it (and can afford it) once it becomes economically viable and is cleared as a safe alternative for amputees, give it 2-3 years tops. - dougmidkiff, on 06/10/2008, -2/+7*Insert Star Wars reference here*
- aserer511, on 06/10/2008, -0/+5medical innovation can be AWESOME
- dannybuntu, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4Judgement day is near. I for one welcome our new bionic hand overlords.
- ohstoopid1, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.
- UTPinky, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4So the bionic hand GRABBED the prize? Sure the other hand wasn't used?
- Wakkyweed, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4I wanted to insert a Bionic Man joke here, but I couldn't figure out how to do the Onomatopoeia.
- CedEx, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4Bionic Commando... pfft... kids these days.
Here's a history lesson. It's from the "Six Million Dollar Man". - bxblox, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4http://www.touchbionics.com/video.php?vid=shotgun& ...
- Shogi, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4***** Apple for starting the horrid iEverything trend.
- PabloIV, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4You see the human looking hand that doesn't look like a hook?
That's the bionic hand.

RTFA!!! - inactive, on 06/10/2008, -2/+5That's REALLY cool. Next up: a hand made from Bionicles.
- DraxusD, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3dugg because I did the exact same thing
- joclark, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3This is truly incredible. All Science Fiction eventually becomes reality. If we think it, we can do it.
- WATYF, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3DI DI DI DI DI di di di di di di....
- valkyries, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3well the arm is code named Luke, and is a lot more advanced. range of motion, control system, and being able to pick up a grape and eat it without crushing it was the first goal for Deka's(aka Kamen) arm
- jetblackz4, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3My dream of a real life robo-cop is that much closer
- inactive, on 06/10/2008, -1/+4Um.... Yes.
The codenames for these projects are usually "Lukehands" - Yukimura, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3Will Apple try and sue this company for daring to put an 'i' in the front of their product's name?
- trer, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3Waiting until third party accessories are released like the fleshlight attachment.
- ScottyQuest, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3Actually, if you look at the upper left hand corner of the photo, you can see that it's taken of his reflection in a mirror as he dresses himself.
- robthom, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Now I just need a bionic pecker to keep up with it.
- bootycakes, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2yahoo! no more hurt wrists in the morning.
- Merendino, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Thats controlled by electrodes or is it controlled directly through wires into brain implants? Didn't see how it was operated from the article. Anyone know the skinny?
- chakorules, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Dean Kamen has a "Luke Arm" too. The skin is just peeled back, pay no attention to the servo actuators...
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9048454679 ... - Stupidumb, on 06/10/2008, -1/+3Or Touch Bionics just said "***** you, stumpy. We ***** put this hand wherever we ***** want."
- Wakkyweed, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2That's pretty good! Now if you could somehow layer the Bionic man theme song on top of that...
Dum dum da-da DUM... Dum dum da-dum da da dum.... - ChileanGoD, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Did they really had to put the "i" on it? Will it play mp3s and display movies?
- rory2267, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2ah grabbed the top prize, pun, i see what you did there
- PabloIV, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2It works with electrodes just like older grip hooks do.
The difference is that it has specific digits that conform to any shape
It's also awesome. - Merendino, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2True. It is ***** awesome, I was just curious. Thanks.
- TheAuditor, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2It is already available on the NHS, he is just the first.
- AdvancedSoul, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1Why is there no information in this article? It only talks about how the arm LOOKS real and nothing about how it functions, what a ***** article.
- Jarasmen, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1Okay, so we have that, now for those flying cars...
- xero69, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1The i-limb, now with new i-fap technology!
- Frostek, on 06/10/2008, -1/+2Picture could easily have been flipped for "artistic reasons".
- winampman2, on 06/11/2008, -0/+1holy *****
