- Xanin, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15I'm colourblind, so I took a random guess. I take I made the wrong one.
- aggrazel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I like that their graphic illustration was made by a 5 year old in MS paint though.
- lucid270, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@jtrost - Actually its 62.1%
- Scynet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10It's all because of blood. Blood is red, love is associated with red because heart is red, which is red because of blood. Same with sex and death. Blood, blood, blood.
And blood is important because of it's own associations: we see it in birth and death, important and tragic events throughout our lives.
/amateur analysis - Septimus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Why? Black pretty much sums it up.
- PirateFSM, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9We're trying very hard to forget the red states...
- Fjinks, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10And the digg down button is also red :)
Click it! - orlyfactor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You must live in the Village...
- parax, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Death? In the West death is usually symbolized by black, in the East, it is symbolized by white.
- Domza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5And cordial. Red cordial.

- kilodelta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6and here i was thinking it was because of Michael Jackson's jacket. :(
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3FUN FACT
Doctors wear green and paint surgery rooms as such to balance visual photostress from looking at red blood of a patient. It helps in a 12 hour open heart surgery. - rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5It all boils down to the fact that blood is red.
We associate the color red to love, sex, death, revolution, danger, attention, etc etc all because of that. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Spoken like a true 40 year old virgin.
- abcdefghij, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3also associated with red:
-menstrual period
-bankruptcy
-roses
-gift ribbon
-shoes that Merryl Streep wore in "The Devil Wears Prada" movie that the lady wants to watch
all the things blocking guys from, or they need to have, to get laid - starguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Better Red than Dead!
- MikeFromAmerica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ignoring half the US population isn't a very good strategy for winning elections.
- resplence, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What about the use of red backgrounds in ancient Geocities sites?
- lazlonger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just finished reading Hominids by Robert Sawyer in which a Neanderthal civilization uses red to me "go" or "good" or "complete" as they see it as the color of blood and thus the color of life, not death as we see it. So where we use green they use red. Interesting...
- doocefan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I know a lot of men that prefer pink ;)
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ jocnnor
Take some Ambien - MikeFromAmerica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not if the cause of death is a pack of wild dogs. In that case, red seems about right...

I hope you don't mind that I'm going to put that in a card this Feb 14th . . . brilliant . . . just brilliant. - liquidhot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4"Love, blood, sex, death"
What? *surprised look* Not at the same time... - craigiedan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have written a few research papers on the color of red and its impact on social groups. In anthropological terms, the color red most often acts as a honest indicator of strength and fitness. The use of red ocher in pre-modern sites is usually associated with successful and powerful groups.
- jimmiem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Why do firefighters wear red suspenders?
- Neversoft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's not strictly-speaking true... Colour blindness (unless you're one of the very rare cases that can only see in monochrome) basically effects the amounts of red, green and blue you can see. I (for example) am red/green colour blind - it doesn't mean I live in a blue world, but I tend to interpret purples as blues for example. So yeah, colour blindness isn't to be taken literally, it just means you can "detect" less of a colour.
I'm pulling this statistic out of my arse but isn't 1 in 10 people colour blind? Check for yourself by searching for "Ishihara tests" - you might be suprised :) - Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not sure of this but I would also bet red has such a strong impact on us because it's the lowest frequency color on the ROYGBIV scale. I base this theory on absolutely nothing.
- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2pseudo-lectual?
It's clear you're a perfect example of an a-lectual. - inactive, on 01/04/2009, -0/+1And the United Statsicans? Right? ___, White, and Blue
