- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Stephen Hawking is probably the coolest physicist I know. The fact he flew from England to America just to voice himself in a prime time animated show really shows true character, especially when they could've easily fudged his appearance on The Simpsons with some regular synthesizer. Same goes for Futurama, and most definitely, his greatest appearance, his role on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Also, he pinned up an article from The Onion about himself before as well.
Oh yea, and his contributions to the scientific world yadda yadda blah blah, whatev - mattsidesinger, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17I can't tell if you are being serious or trying to make an offensive joke. If it is the latter, I think you should read this http://www.hawking.org.uk/disable/dindex.html and consider yourself blessed.
- VeyronSengh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Read the disability section.
"Only problem is that it gives me an American accent"
Haha - SanFranMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I heard he's a playah. No joke.
- farrellj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10The web site is a complement to his musical website, which you can find at:
http://www.mchawking.com
My two fav songs of his are "F* the Creationists", and "Entropy".

***** you.
That comment was unwarranted by, if nothing else, human decency.
Being disrespectful to a gross degree is not funny just because you have 'internet anonymity' - krunkosaurus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I loved his album: "A Brief History of Rhyme". You can find it under his MC name MC Hawking.
- LustHog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I saw him speak at UC Davis a few years ago. He gave a speech and typed into his computer through a mechanism in his mouth. It took like ten minutes of silence before his machine started talking. Kind of awkward, but worth it. But when it started, it was great. He was very funny, and played clips from Star Trek:TNG. I can't believe the people in front of me were bored and falling asleep, cause the material is too complicated. They are seeing a living legend!
After his speech, some really smart looking guys went up to talk to him. One guy looked very smart, walked tall, big white hair like einstein, huge head and forehead, for a big brain, probably. A group of physicists or something. Then a few months later I saw the same guy playing violin in a bart station in Berkeley for change. Go figure. Just thought I'd share, as a Stephen Hawking fan. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Having read a lot of his stuff and seen his sense of humour, I think he'd have turned a smile at whamdangler's little joke.
Just look at his 'performances' on futurama and the simpsons (the flying wheelchair thing) and make up your own mind! Don't just jump on the 'eeek, he's making fun of a cripple' politically correct bandwagon without engaging your brains first! - LustHog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Geniuses and people who have accomplished great things like him usually are overly egotistical or really full of themselves. It's part of what drives them to and helps them do great things. They probably feel they have a right to feel that way because of who they are. History is filled with magnificient *****.
- chron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I won't give you the benefit of the doubt. You, sir, are a cad for not being sensitive to a fellow human being.
- Ramtech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think in his bio...
"300 years after the death of Galileo"... is very irrelevant.. Hawking is very conceited... i learned this after reading the book, "God's Equation" not too long ago... - sembetu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Hawk Man is one of the slickest MC's ever. Ever.
- seanmcgowan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2To save you all a trip to http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/cad ... it means "A lowbred, presuming person; a mean, vulgar fellow, a seducer." Thanks – good word to learn.
And, seriously, whamdanglers, that's in very poor taste. Try to only say things behind people's backs (perhaps? Hello Professor Hawking?) if you'd say them in front.
Most of us have the decency of burying your comment, out of shame, but if you were in the room with us we wouldn't embarrass you by exposing your poor taste in humor to everyone else. I hope in the future you show the same respect to – if not everyone – brilliant altruists. - OmegaNine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I heard the same thing.
- kaffein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Quake Master Mp3 is not working unfortunately, so check here:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=92973 - nmeadata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It is not about the messenger but the message, I am not saying I agree with everything he says but the focus on his physical condition decries all he has done. He has been a visionary and inspiration to many.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This qualifies as "Digg/News"? How is this news or even moderately interesting?
I appreciate the sentiment, I really do. As a matter of fact my fiance and I just finished watching (another) series featuring Stephen Hawking and his discoveries in cosmology. I spend a great deal of my free time reading his books, articles, and yes, this website. But if you care a fig about this, how can you not know this already? My friggin grandmother can find his site with a simple Google "I'm Feeling Lucky" based on the term "Stephen Hawking". How complicated is that?
Sorry, but the "I'm Feeling Lucky" result for a topic does not really impress me too much. - v4r4n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He has three kids... there was also some great footage shown on the Daily Show a few months back when he was in China...
- Ramtech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@LustHog
I completely agree with you.., but do you think Einstein was the same way?...
I dont think so.. he was different... very. - phlux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3He has had a website for YEARS:
mchawking.com
Yes it has a store - but the best part is where he has all his music. He is a famous rapper: http://mchawking.com/multimedia.php?page_function=mp3z - megaloid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Comprehensive list of favorite ***** genius examples:
Issac Newton
Henry Ford
Allistair Crowley
Charles Babbage
Vlad the Impaler
Julius Caesar
Now don't bother challenging my reasoning or you will never recover from the humiliation I shall heap upon you in front of your peers. My calculations are foolproof. - scott1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You obviously don't watch House. I was very surprised to find out that the actor that plays him is British.
- kafitz22, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2There's nowhere to run don't even try, cause all my shootings be drivebys.
- Filksinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He may be conceited, but what has that to do with the comment about Galileo's death? He is born on the anniversary of the death, to the day, of a famous physicist. I'd find that noteworthy even if I had no interest in physics at all. It is especially worth noting in the case of a physicist. ANY physicist.
Nothing in what he said, anywhere on this site, implies that he thinks he is as great a scientist as Galileo. Only that there was an interesting coincidence about his birth date. There's nothing conceited about that. - sedo1800, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I like his book but the website plus the books are awesome for a layman
- megaloid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Dug up for using the terms "playah" and "Steven Hawking" in the same sentence. Still, if the ladies give him those kinds of props, then that's cool. And if anybody deserves expedited access to experimental stem cell treatments, it's Steven Hawking. The guy has had ALS for 40 years. Most ALS-afflicted people don't last five.
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4@sideshowRAHEEM
Meaning that you are not anywhere near as famous as Stephan Hawking or as smart of a person. And plus he's not a "cripple", he's a cyborg and what's wrong with being a cyborg(or a "cripple...") either way it's a very bad thing to make fun of a person disability. - OmegaNine, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Frames? I would think he would be above using HTML 1 framesets
- megaloid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Don't be a playah-hater, mstnpb. Hawking be dropping mad science to crazy beats.
- mstnpb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1please, for the love of all that is right and holy in this world, please, please please...
please be joking. - Ramtech, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1how can he get high if he's disable???
physics?... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1http://thecreationfallacy.blogspot.com/
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2I heard Chuck Norris is his son :O
- GnuTzu, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Or is he saying that having those things would allow him to emulate the man?
Better it emulate a man's philosophy then his condition. - alej744, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Is this the guy who gave a lecture after he got high on pot?
- shovel24, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4It's too bad he can't get a synthesizer that sounds like that MERLIN system in the WIng Commander movie. That would make for more interesting lectures :-)
- sideshowRAHEEM, on 10/12/2007, -26/+4Jesus mattsidesinger you act like making fun a cripple is a bad thing.
- whamdanglers, on 10/12/2007, -65/+6He needs to add a "Professor Hawking E-Store." Where you can get the best Hawkin' prices on wheel chairs and text-to-speech devices for your car, golf cart, segway or office chair. Man that would be sweet.
