- erichw1504, on 08/27/2008, -2/+61Why, I'm going to make up my own useless article. It'll be about the five next inventions for transportation in the future:
5. Super fast trains: a new train system in that will be faster than the ones we have now.
4. Electric and solar powered cars: Cars that run on 100% electricity or have solar panels built in.
3. Flying cars: Cars that will enable us to fly through the air instead of using the old tar built roadways.
2. Skyscraper railways: Built for the biggest cities, these railways will run higher than modern ones and avoid all ground traffic.
1. Portal guns: Like the Portal game itself, guns that will allow us to shoot out portal to instantly travel from one location to the other.
Digger up! - juliohm, on 08/26/2008, -4/+53blah blah blah pills
no details whatsoever - BrettFromTibet, on 08/26/2008, -2/+37I expected a little more detail from this article.. what are the names of these smart drugs?
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+34Is it herpex?
- sputza, on 08/27/2008, -2/+29Male birth control FTW! No more women trapping guys by "forgetting" to take their pill.
- Yookji, on 08/27/2008, -0/+21Simple. Just combine that with the male birth control pill.
- Shivan57, on 08/27/2008, -2/+22This seems more of the same far off and dreamy optimism that we've held as a culture since the 19th century. Somewhere in a lab/basement/gov't bunker... they are making a drug/superhuman/alien technology... Speculation is great, but with vague details such as these 'hope to unlock' 'have seen potential results' how do you expect anyone to get excited?
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -3/+20What? No invincibility pill?
- Sturmur, on 08/27/2008, -1/+18FOXDIE!
- TankerJoe, on 08/26/2008, -4/+21So we are supposed to take the blue pill?
- curtisag, on 08/27/2008, -4/+20This is really cool, but what is going to happen to the global population when humans learn to stop or reverse the aging process? We could be engineering our own demise. The planet can only support so many people and has finite natural resources.
- tidu, on 08/27/2008, -0/+14Well, Digg's not helping either.

- leerayIG88, on 08/27/2008, -1/+10Double Damage Pill?
- Smills, on 08/27/2008, -1/+10Wars will take care of that problem.

On February 1, 2008 the FDA issued an Alert to further clarify its findings, noting that "it appears increasingly likely that there is an association between Chantix and serious neuropsychiatric symptoms." - SimmaDownNow, on 08/27/2008, -3/+10First things first, where the hell is the flying car I was promised?
- diggopolous, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6You know you're not that far off Frix. I am currently taking a pill
to stop smoking called Chatix. It works by blocking the release of dopamine thus taking away the pleasure/reward cycle of smoking.
However for me anyway it took the pleasure out of just about everything!
I no longer want to go out, have a beer or glass of wine or even flirt. All that stuff seems now just absurd. - exformation, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6Lipozene is pure body fat.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68lYLohudfc - Frixionburne, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6"Dopamine is one of the chemicals that conveys pleasure, and doctors hope that by inhibiting dopamine, they can take the pleasure out of the addicted behavior, thus ending it."
What exactly defines addictive behavior? If I were to take great amounts of pleasure in helping people, and at the same time enjoyed smoking quite a bit, wouldn't taking this make me hate people and quit smoking? Not the most thought out idea IMO. - danlowlite, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6Uhhh, I would disagree.
If you're a guy and you don't want kids, would you take a pill? This is a dead simple sell. The guy takes a BC pill so he can have sex without that particular fear. So do women, right now. They should also be using condoms, too, but the "it don't feel as good" argument is moot if all you do is take a stupid pill.
All you have to do is think of all those unhappy guys "trapped" in unhappy marriages because they were stupid and got a girl pregnant. He's a moron for not using a condom, or it broke, or she was on anti-biotics, or whatever...but I think it'd sell.
It'd sell like crazy. Then STI transmission would go up... - sindex, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5Where the hell am I? *blink*

GOD! - mescad, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4I disagree. Drugs (or magic fountains) in the 19th century that claimed to extend your life or cure all diseases were purely hype and marketing, designed to quickly separate fools from their money. That's a great deal different from the work currently being done by real scientists who have shown preliminary results in laboratory test subjects. No, most of these won't come to market in the next year, but to me, real science is more exciting than pure fantasy.
- atact88, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4Nature? That's where we get most of our problems from. The human body wasn't made to go more than 40-50 years in nature.
- recruz, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4It's great that we can research and develop these drugs and pills ... but as Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jurassic Park) so eloquently put it, "... your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Doesn't anybody else think that Cancer/disease is nature's way of forcing a species to evolve as well as population control?
I know it's a grim outlook on things, but in the world of survival of the fittest, I feel like we are essentially making our immune systems and everything more pathetic by having all these drugs.
Same with the industrial revolution- we now need to go green after realizing we should not be destroying the habitability of the planet - chrispen, on 08/27/2008, -1/+5It's already screwed up...we just have to deal with that fact now.
- acidsurgery, on 08/27/2008, -1/+5Dugg for the sperm army picture
- BigBunz, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4You assume that people will continue to live their lives as they have done for centuries. Mortality and aging impact people's decision making when it comes to having kids as well as many other things. Remove or alter those two factors and new horizons open up. Maybe people won't feel pressured to have kids in their twenties and thirties. They'll have them whenever they deem the time is right...perhaps when they are 85.
- emjaymj, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4The nootropic that probably has the most research behind it is called Piracetam. The evidence actually suggests that it increases communication between the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

- Namingway, on 08/27/2008, -4/+7um.. the rich elite will make the pills cost so much that only they can afford them. Then they will shut down the hospitals & whatnot since they don't need them. Soon after everyone will be dead but the people that the elite of the world deemed worthy.
then we get hit by an asteroid. - joshikus, on 08/27/2008, -2/+5Hmm...exercise pill? What Nutty Professors!
