- Sixagon, on 07/20/2009, -0/+23Modern Man invented agriculture and with that created a system of role specialization that led to larger harvests, longer life-spans, and expansion.
Neaderthals got hooked on Twitter. - blitzwing85, on 07/20/2009, -2/+14I swear I deal with them everyday at work.
- lazyslacker, on 07/20/2009, -0/+8Alien intervention is to blame, of course.
- nextekcarl, on 07/20/2009, -0/+8Soylent Green! It's made from Neandertals!
- davewelsh79, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6We probably ate them all.
- KahRahTay, on 07/20/2009, -2/+6exactly. i think we all know that what really happened was interbreeding with the advanced humans from the 12 colonies
- DiggerDoombot, on 07/20/2009, -0/+3Here are three books about a surviving (and thriving) Neanderthal culture.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Neanderthal_Paral ... - askantik, on 07/20/2009, -0/+3Dugg for anthropology on Digg. I'm sure the anti-social science brigade will be mad. You know, the ***** who think that straight up chemistry or physics is the only kind of science there is and they ain't down with no interdisciplinary *****.
Well, I am. - revyn, on 07/20/2009, -0/+3Do you work for Geico?
- ImBaack, on 07/20/2009, -0/+3Neanderthals + Alien species = ***** Sapien
- Schweppesale, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2yea, that or we just murdered them all. wouldn't put it past us considering the last 100years
- Paulish, on 07/20/2009, -3/+5My guess is that the neanderthals hadn't discovered porn yet. That is enough to destroy a whole race.
- FredFredrickson, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2The three books are by Hannity, Coultier, and Beck, with forwards written by O'Reilly.
- BabyWookie, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2American conservatives are much better examples. See your comment history as to why.
- 3tcp, on 07/20/2009, -3/+5obvious troll fails
- nextekcarl, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2Yeah, if they need some living samples my last boss or two would be a great start. I have the address around here if they need it.
It seems like very other day I see some story on here about a previously extinct animal being discovered alive in some corner of the world. These researchers need to look around themselves a bit more, I think. Just because you find some dead animal doesn't mean the whole species is extinct. - pault107, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2Hence your username.
- 3tcp, on 07/20/2009, -1/+2*****, ***** sapiens are neanderthals that turned cannibals, that's how they evolved so quickly. It's also the reason why neanderthals went extinct.
- ImBaack, on 07/20/2009, -1/+2The rapid advancement of ***** Sapiens in the last 10,000 years is a fascinating topic, as is this one. Whether or not it was some ancient civilization, God, or visitors from space they must have had some help. Perhaps the Neanderthals fell victim to some type of disease or new bacterium that the ***** Sapiens were immune to. If you want to read a good book about the Neanderthals and humans living together check out "Clan of the Cave Bear". It is fiction but the facts and research that went into the book are right on point.
- Anomaly100, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1As long as you aren't inferring that Gaius Baltar was advanced.
- bliz20, on 07/20/2009, -2/+3I thought it said the Netherlands until I read this comment
- CanuckPenguin, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1At my office the rose to their level of incompetence and were promoted to upper management.
- ahhell, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1For the last time, there is NO "H" in the name!!!
- alappat1, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1I don't think many people realize just how big the scale of history is.. this story covers a timeline starting 65 thousand years ago and finishing 28 thousand years ago... that's a period of time 6 times longer than recorded history (before 4000BC)! ***** Sapiens began about 200 thousand years ago! And 18 thousand years after this story ends, agriculture was just being invented!
- ThraxyWaxy, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1Piers Anthony has cooler neanderthal books.
- Boogalou007, on 07/20/2009, -9/+9"sometime after 28,000 years ago, they vanished"
The Bible clearly states that the earth didn't exist that long ago. Ignorant scientists!
I'm so sick of the non believers using stuff like facts, and research, and numbers and stuff to try and disprove my beliefs! God didn't create Neandertals, he created MEN, and of course women to serve them.
Got to go and rebuke ma woman now, she didn't pray properly before eating, nor did she prepare my dish EXACTLY the way I telled her to.
- Reebee52, on 07/20/2009, -10/+10Obviously God drowned them in the flood. 4000 years ago. Because he decided that when he molded them from clay they look too much like humans. And there were a lot of protest groups, saying stuff like "Neanderthals are humanoids too!" And "Neanderthal rights!" And a lot of people called for Neanderthal's right to get married. So God drowned them too, until eventually he was like, "Screw it, you're all dead" and flooded the earth.
And that's why there are no neanderthals or dinosaurs alive anymore.
Except for the ones Jesus rode.
http://edvmedia.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/jesus_ ... - gkiltz, on 07/21/2009, -0/+0They were flat out over-adapted to one thing!
Neanderthals NEEDED the forest!
As the forest retreated, and became more patchy grasslands took over.
They were ill-equipped to live on the grasslands.
Modern man had been around less time, and had not become as well adapted to the forest. The other side of that meant that he could survive in either the grassland or the forest. Some individuals could even spend part of their lives in the forest and part in the grassland. A few probably moved back and forth as often as seasonally. Therefore, modern man could not only survive, but come into contact with other groups of his own kind, and breed. This kept a healthy gene pool.
Neanderthal, on the other hand was so well adapted to the forest, he could live nowhere else, even if he ventured into the edge of the grassland to hunt and/or gather.
AS the grassland intruded, and segmented the forest, he found himself isolated in ever-shrinking patches of forest, with no means to come into contact with other Neanderthals isolated in similar pockets. This resulted in inbreeding and destroyed the gene pool.
So, modern man, having evolved more recently, was less specialized, and more adaptable.
Evolution is all about adaptation. - Propethic, on 07/20/2009, -0/+0Wtf why have i never heard of this?
- inactive, on 07/21/2009, -1/+1Praise Raptor Jesus
- Chameleongoo, on 07/20/2009, -4/+3How about humans started pushing them out of the prairies and other livable areas, and into the jungle and swamp where fossils do not form. Did you know 1/4 of the united states has not been foot surveyed? Did you know that the US spent 60 years on an all out search for pandas before we found one? I say they never died off. We have thousands of sightings of Yetis, Bigfoot etc., way more than ever saw a panda in the wild, but we have not launched a fully funded serious expedition looking for Bigfoot.
Here is an overview of a well documented case in Russia, where in the 19th century a Bigfoot was captured and used as a slave. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/593867/ca ... - chrisdodges, on 07/20/2009, -3/+2It is a toss up between the terrible script and the terrible acting
- wolfing, on 07/20/2009, -2/+1The meteor that hit Earth, pushed major volcanoes to erupt, covering the whole area with dark clouds obscuring the Sun for years, thus, they died along with dinosaurs. There, I said it.
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -3/+1Wow that is a long article. Stupid Neanderthals.
- RealmDown, on 07/20/2009, -13/+7They are alive and well under a different party name: Republicans
(though some left politics all together and starred in Geico commercials) - TheBlueVulcan, on 07/20/2009, -7/+1Well, it's not like they stood much of a chance with the name "Neanderthal." The species likely perished of embarrassment.
- elbeesee, on 07/20/2009, -7/+0curiouser???
- SpazAttack5000, on 07/20/2009, -14/+6I thought it said "the netherlands" at first.
- mwrl, on 07/20/2009, -11/+1They never left, see Russians for examples.
- KRG12345, on 07/20/2009, -17/+6They were the lucky ones.. they died before having to deal with George Bush.
