Congressmen: "KEEP SCANNING! ONE OF THEM HAS TO BE A TERRORIST!!" - bringmeupmusic, on 04/20/2008, -0/+18Haha they don't know what they are getting themselves into with my mind. *evil snicker*
- hinchb, on 04/20/2008, -0/+16Great, something else that can be pushed on the people of this country in the name of security.
- schnikies79, on 04/20/2008, -1/+15you misspelled "in my ass"
- mcla0181, on 04/20/2008, -0/+13The Orwellian error.... 2008 - 1984 = 24
- theboywonder, on 04/20/2008, -0/+121984 lifestyle here we come...
- inactive, on 04/20/2008, -1/+13SEE, I told you so, Big Brother is REAL. 9/11 = INSIDIOUS JOB!!!!
- Aokitsune, on 04/20/2008, -0/+10The hell of it is, the whole situation is a catch 22-
1. If we stand up to them and something happens, everyone will decide it was because we wouldn't submit to policy/ technology X
2. If we don't stand up to them and something happens then it's decided policy/ technology X wasn't enough and we need Y and Z as well.
3. There is still no guarantee that X, Y and Z will work- we could screw up, our enemies could get extremely creative, or a combination of the two (I'd say a combination would be most likely)
4. In the event of X, Y, and Z not working everyone will feel it necessary to create more policies/ technologies- at the expense of liberties- so that we feel safer.
5. Even if X, Y, and Z do work and nothing happens, there is no way to prove that X, Y, and Z are directly and solely responsible. Maybe we don't really need Y. Maybe Z is a useless inconvenience. But, Y and Z will not be easily dismantled because of fear- even if they haven't stopped anything yet. Everyone knows that the moment you relax is when terrorists jump out and get you. They're just good like that- always waiting for the slightest weakness to exploit.
The ones looking for control over the frightened masses clearly have the advantage- they can manufacture targets to be feared ( through media sensationalism, piss-poor foreign policy, and outright lies) and enact controls to nullify that fear. It's going to be a tough struggle for the few that refuse to be intimidated by our government or the terrorism it creates. - Leomarth, on 04/20/2008, -0/+9Top two reasons that will be used to push this technology:
1) Terrorism
2) Child molestors
Once this is shown as a possible "solution" to make people safer from #1 and #2, the technology will be welcomed with open arms. - frazw, on 04/20/2008, -0/+7watch out for a strong wind though
- jellygraph, on 04/20/2008, -0/+7Who is suggesting and funding these projects? Why are they wasting money on this rather than using it on alleviating poverty and hunger, etc? And, most importantly... What are we becoming? Because it sure does not sound human.
- ketchupcorsair, on 04/20/2008, -0/+6Wow, the government is actually retarded.
I've long suspected this, but now it is a fact. - theMockingNoob, on 04/20/2008, -0/+6Error 8008 - No brain found
- badassninja, on 04/20/2008, -0/+6I hope they can feel this because I'm doing it as hard as I can.
- cynikal180, on 04/20/2008, -0/+6Big brother is watching you.
- erhanaltay, on 04/20/2008, -0/+4This isn't the first time the government wasted money on telepathy. I guess paying down $10 trillion in debt takes a back seat to telepathy once again...
- asdfrewq, on 04/20/2008, -0/+4You might want to reconsider that move, there's a rather large American base located smack bang in the middle of the Australian desert full of CIA and NSA employees.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_Gap - enri, on 04/20/2008, -0/+4Joke's on you. The tin foil hat amplifies their mind control waves.
http://people.csail.mit.edu/rahimi/helmet/ - Doitdifferently, on 04/20/2008, -0/+3That is so not right on so many not right levels.
- RoboDonut, on 04/20/2008, -0/+3They're stealin' my intellectual property!
- flamewall203, on 04/21/2008, -0/+3George Orwell called. He wants his Thought Police back.
- Clydesdale, on 04/20/2008, -1/+4Is it just me or does this tech seem like it would be incredibly easy to jam or even spoof?
- aukxsona, on 04/21/2008, -0/+2Thank you.
- roho76, on 04/21/2008, -0/+2Wow. The tin foil hat people were right all along.
- scm21st, on 04/20/2008, -0/+2Not gonna happen. Regarding EEG, there are a large number of very specific sites on the head that must be measured to get an overall picture of thought, and the readings must be done without any interference whatsoever. You may see higher than average beta at one site for example, but there is little meaning without measuring levels at other sites and without knowing if high beta there is related to "problems" for that particular brain. Every brain is different, and varying amplitude levels at countless frequencies mean different things for every brain.
- Leomarth, on 04/21/2008, -0/+2Is it worth it to teach our children that we can violate principles whenever we find it convenient?
This may be an easy answer. And to come up with other answers would be difficult and time consuming. But that doesn't mean we should just stick with the easy answer. It often has very long term ill effects. - mnky9800n, on 04/20/2008, -0/+2But when they find out it will be grounds for a prison term!
- highlymodified, on 04/20/2008, -0/+2Oh right, like this is the first time the US government has wasted vast sums of money on mind-control/reading projects.

Don't worry, it's for national security! Have a nice day! - grimward, on 04/20/2008, -0/+2You know, growing up, I used to think the states were pretty much the coolest place on earth, America, the place where they kept things safe and where they had freedom and lots of opportunity for growth. .. and today, all I see is a nation of people suppressed by a government whose doing it's utmost to ignore it's own citizens cries for change and doing their best to reduce another country to ashes. I'm not saying America is an evil country, far from it.. but your government sure is. So, Americans, yes.. you the SANE ones out there, grab the opportunity and try to undo the horrible things your government is doing, get those jokers out of office already!
- sbostedor, on 04/21/2008, -0/+2This is not newsworthy. Governments have been trying to do this for decades. We're really not any closer than when we started. Our thoughts are not transmitted outside of our heads. This is junk science.
- NodOfficer, on 04/20/2008, -0/+2In the meantime, blackmail said men!
- Fl4sh, on 04/21/2008, -0/+2***** the Government! Bunch of hell spawn Satan worshiping demons if you ask me.
- hololoyell, on 04/20/2008, -1/+2oh really, I thought, (anyone else?), only Chinese gov do such mind-wraping job.
- highlymodified, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1My ass is in your *****?
- matschig, on 04/20/2008, -4/+5Well the funny thing about my mind is that it's located on my *****.
- highlymodified, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1Yes, actually.
Many seem really afraid to say it, but a big part of the Obama appeal is simply having a regular, intelligent guy in office instead of the usual politician nutjobs that have enabled all of the corruption of US ideals. New blood, if you will, to clear out the old and increasingly totalitarian ideologies. - aukxsona, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1LOL just what I was thinking. An EEG (or EKG can't remember) can be jammed by thought waves changing...(hum in your head...that simple) This will be fun. During questioning just think of the best sex you ever had...it will release endorphines etc...so when they torture you it won't hurt as much.
- inactive, on 04/20/2008, -2/+3Hello. I am a member of the Government and I just want to say that you need not fear the Government. The Government is here for YOUR protection.
- ryananger, on 04/20/2008, -2/+3My mind can beat up your mind.
- jellygraph, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1ya, exactly, which is why i would vote for obama
- thecoolestguy, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1Oh great, I'm going to have to wear a tinfoil hat.
- tranklan, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1I totally agree...
But what are your chances of being personally affected by either terrorism or child molestation?
(They are pretty minuscule).
Is it worth it to invade the civil liberties of millions to protect a few? - StaticThunder, on 04/21/2008, -1/+2I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you over the whining. If you don't like the surveillance, stop voting for these ***** and stop buying plane tickets. Quit blaming everyone but your stupid selves for these problems and take some lessons in how not to be hyperbolic and afraid.
- Fl4sh, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1My mind is the only safe place I have left from those *****! Stay the ***** out of my head!
- jessehadden, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1You know, I thought it was just typical of a mad-man when I learned that Hitler invested money and resources into the occult, to try to gain more power. Then I read stories like this, and I think, yep, it sure is typical of mad-men.
- Antwan718, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1Politician = Politician, we need a middle class American trying to get buy on a normal family income to run this country, not a person borne into the richest 10%
- Tenoq, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1He's right. You need a power source to Faraday cage your brain. :p
